kudos for negotiating that kind of money. on the other hand, I would have liked to see him elsewhere. I feel he did better much than Lillard though, as in dont let team loyalty stop you from getting max dough.

It's for the best. The last thing the league needs is another superteam steamrolling everyone to a 72 - 3 record

Good to see Harden on the court playing basketball and looking involved, that is what he needs to do. He has a contractual obligation and he understands he needs to fulfil it irrespective of the trade demands.

The Rockets are playing differently with J. Wall at the PG and Cousins at C. Silas is obviously going to do away with jacking up 3’s as the only strategy. They are moving the ball, playing inside out with a lot of penetration.

We start the preseason with a L but I like what I saw with some of our new rookies especially Prichard.. That kid looks like he is ready for the NBA.

I just realised that everyone who left the Lakers went to the east. Bradley to Heat, Rondo to Hawks, JaVale to Cavs, Dwight and Green to Philly. Everyone running far away from where LeBron is grin They've experienced his dominance firsthand so they know better cheesy

Giannis signing an extension basically ends any false belief of him going to Golden State. Not just for this season, but for the next 3-4 years, as long as Klay and Steph remain on that team. Because there's no way you can have 3 players on a team earning 40m annually. No way. The only way we can see Giannis in GS is if one of them opt out of their contract and re-sign for less, which is unlikely to happen. So, Giannis to GS is ended for real.
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 10:55am On Dec 16, 2020
Pretty good on Giannis to collect max dollars to stay in Milwaukee. I think offloading guys like Bledsoe and essentially replacing them with Holiday would help. They didn't make any big signings but quietly improved their depth all over the roster. Getting a Bryn Forbes who is a decent shooter would help.

Giannis has not played well enough in the postseason to justify him bolting from the Bucks and bunny hopping to another team for a path of least resistance that would have certainly hurt his legacy. I think if he wins even 1 ring with Milwaukee he would be respected and revered like Olajuwon in Houston. He still has time, he's 26 and even the GOAT and LeNomad at that age had won a combined 0 rings

We will see if he can live with reduced touches and respect Silas. The organization has always moved mountains for him, and I am not sure he can live a new regime. I think this is strategy to drive his value up before a trade - we will see sha

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30528130/james-harden-houston-rockets-breaking-point

THE HOUSTON ROCKETS' culture in the James Harden era, which bridges two owners and now four head coaches, might be best summed up by a former staffer's three words:

"Whatever James wants."

Unless they were on the front end of a back-to-back set, it was essentially a sure thing that the Rockets stayed overnight -- or even an extra day -- after games in Los Angeles, Phoenix and other road cities that rank among Harden's favorite stops.

If the Rockets had two or three days between games, it was a good bet Harden would call for an off day and charter a private jet to party in Las Vegas or another city. He always gets an excused absence from the first practice after the All-Star break for the same reason.

"Just James being James," those currently within the franchise say. But these circumstances are drastically different than at any previous point of the perennial All-Star's eight-year Houston tenure.

Harden has pushed the Rockets to upgrade every offseason, saying he would want to be traded if they couldn't contend, sources said. And he had final say on things beyond just travel and practice schedules as well. He could call the shots on personnel moves, both on the roster and the coaching staff, a power he flexed to push for the firing of head coach Kevin McHale and departures of co-stars Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, sources said.

And the Rockets considered it good business to do what Harden wanted to keep a historically elite player happy. But when Harden tried to rush the Rockets to trade him in recent weeks despite the lack of an offer that they considered fair value, it wasn't the annual ultimatum for improvement. It was something more.

By leaving the Rockets twisting in the wind while camp opened with little communication, Harden made his absence the focus of rookie head coach Stephen Silas' first days of practice. And by blowing off the NBA's COVID-19 protocols, partying maskless during the pandemic and boasting about it on Instagram, Harden revealed what could come if he doesn't get his way.

"Yeah, he's going to act up," a former Rockets staffer said.

"He's never heard 'no' before."

I don’t understand how some GMs choose to disrupt their teams by making certain things public. I understand the Sixers have publicly said they are open to including B. Simmons as the main trading piece for J. Harden.
Now, while I could care less what they do but openly talking about Simmons is capable of ruining their entire season especially if Harden is traded else where.
This is stuff that should have remained in-house especially for a high profiled player until there was clarity. They better hope they can complete this trade with Harden else they would be having a disgruntled Simmons for the entire season.

Won't be suprised if it's Daryl Morey's handwork. The name Harden gives him erections.

Simmons refusal to get a jumper and his durability issues just makes him more expendable than he should ordinarily be.
Re: The NBA Begins by steady986(m): 12:06pm On Dec 18, 2020
I think I like the Harden-Simmons Trade. It would be better for both teams. I love me some point guard/big man combo. That should put Philly in contention to come out of the East. And for Houston, I like Wall at PG and Simmons at PF, Cousins at C. If they can all stay health that's a top 4 seed in the west.
