Got a request this night while I was heading home. Destination wasn't too far from my house so I decided to make it a last trip.

Called the rider, confirmed her location and went there. On getting to the location, I called this rider again I was around. Her response, "okay, I'm coming out".

I swipped arrived on the app, kept the vehicle running and was looking at my front back right and left as I waited.

Next thing I saw, order cancelled by passenger. I was so angry and sent her this.

I can only hope another driver does not fall victim

Continuation:

Sorry for the kind delay on this episode. The gbos gbas are just too distracting and it seems as though some persons(haters) await an opportunity to attack my person. Anyways, we moove.

Talking of the Toyota Camry brand(big daddy): this car is big, spacious, has strong body with good interior speed and ground clearance.
The engine cap is 2.4Ltr , 157 hp @ 5600 rpm.

That of corolla is 1.8L engin, 130 hp @ 6000 rpm and that of civic is 1.7L, 115 hp @ 6100 rpm.
The Accord V4 is 2.4L, 160 hp@5500rpm while the
V6 is 3.0L, 240 hp @ 6250 rpm

rpm(rotation per minute)

Looking at the above hp vs rpm if you're the type that love speed like me you should know which car to go for.
Pls take the v6 out when making decision for transportation business.

The engine capacity as stated above for all these cars I've used should also inform you better which is best for your business in terms of fuel because fueling is one thing drivers spend almost 50% of their earnings on. So you may have to apply wisdom in your selection.

Another thing worthy of note is the second hand and resale values of these brands of cars. because e no get as a bad reach you must have to sell the car one day, so it an important aspect of the business you have to also consider b4 making a decision on which car to buy.

Base on the above, what I always advice people from experience is to always go for Toyota because it has second hand value and a good resale value as well. This is one thing the Honda brand of cars don't have in any way. Especially the civic. I pity drivers who take these cars on a HP deal because I wonder what will be left of it after using this car for 2yrs and how much a new buyer would paid to own it.

This is the reason the corolla brand is No.1 choice for every driver on ehailing.

From experience a driver on rental with a corolla is saving 3x the value of what a driver on Camry because of money is spending on fuel.

Importantly, If you must buy the civic brand of car I'd advised you either stick with manufacturers tier sizes for balance/handlings. If you must increase the tiers size for better ground clearance make sure you don't go above one size up.

Take for instance; manufacturers size for the civic 03 is 185/70/14R. You can change to 185/75/15R, better still maintain 185/80/14R (this this size of tire is very scarce here in Nigeria because of bad roads)

The reason is good to maintain manufacturers' tire spec especially the tire width(185) is because it determines vehicle handling, traction and fuel economy.

Mr.B will spend more money on fuel using 205/65/16R on a civic n Mr.A will have better vehicle handling than Mr.B and will save more fuel as well using the manufacturers recomended tires.

I hope I'm able to broaden your scope in this regards.

Good luck in making your decision

Isn't it ridiculous and mere show of stupidity for someone who drives/invest on ehailing hustle to brand those that drives on same platform as failure in life or as a karma resulted job due to the fact the person he/she is throwing tantrums at was a paid worker before.

Is there any major difference between someone that rent a car then pays rental fee, and a paid employee...

one sells his/her time/competency/skill and experience for salary while the other pays a rental fee for possession and use of someone else property ( both just modern day Trade by barter ) So where does the karma or failure epilogue comes in.

If you think ehailing is for failed people, why associate yourself with the hustle or even parade yourself in a platform made for the failed.

The table of life is always rolling , on that table is so many sides full of deliverables, enjoy the side facing you without rubbing it off on your fellow human, cos the table is always rolling just like a dice .

I just want to clarify few things......

When in business you have to find your COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE ..... At the time people were using Toyota cars Corolla and " Big daddy " etc .. .. The cost of those cars tokunbo and even naija used went up.. It didnt make sense for me to buy Corolla or camry, plus I didn't like those cars at all .. They were like sachet of pure water litter on Lagos road.. It was an eye sore .....

So I decided to research and went for Elantra cars 07 to 09. Since I import cars to Nigeria personally myself , the Elantra were extra cheap for me. The elantra was so cheap, it was like using Corolla money to buy (2) Elantra cars...... .. I can recall my landing cost of 1m naira for an elantra that I used personally .. I was that lucky, with car business depending on your location in the USA , You will find very good and watery deals .....This was my competive advantage........

Now , Elantra are very good cars for uber. I love them and it was easy to fix ... some of the issues with cars in Nigeria can be explain briefly below..

Finding the Right Mechanic and Good Parts. Unfortunately and I will say it with full confidence, finding good mechanic that will not cheat you of your hard earn money and do a good job , is like finding a needle in haystack ....

A mechanic can frustrate you to the point that you end up selling your car out of frustration. And the parts that you buy contributes to the issue .. Most of the parts been sold are more than likely worn out and by the time you use them, it will only last few weeks or months ... so out of frustration the car owner blames the car, instead of the mechanic or low quality parts...

Adapting to your business environment... The ehailing business was changing for the worse and it was affecting my bottom line . The cost of Elantra cars were going up and I couldn't justify buying them with income coming in. They were price changes that benefited the riders than partners .. So Elantra didn't make sense at the time anymore , people were still buying Corolla, which got me scratching my head...... So I had to think outside the box and look for an alternative ....

Lucky for me, when I was buying Elantra at my early stage of my uber business, I came across Honda Civic 03 for $700 . It was a steal and decided to try it out , it was cheap and the landing cost was less than 1m naira. It was just ridiculously cheap.

The 03 Honda civic did very well compare to the Elantra and likely the Corolla . So I did more research on my end and I came across cheap Honda civics .. It was a game changer for me ... so that is how I came across Honda Civic .. The maintenance cost of the Civic is cheaper than the Corolla or than any other cars. The parts were cheaper.. And the shocks on the civic can last a long time......And this is the reason I can lower my rental depending on the driver driving the car.

If the driver and car are saving me from high cost maintenance , than I should able to reward the driver. The same business model I use in selling my engine oil. Buy it cheap enough cut the middle men and the customers will enjoy big savings.. This is another example of a business competive advantage.. You just have to find yours.. We are selling the same products, what makes yours special from others is what u will need to find out.....

I have been saying this time to time .. Don't put all of your eggs in 1 basket .. Transportation business should be a section of your business.. It is equally as good as it is challenging .. You need to diversify your business to avoid headaches... I wouldn't want to have more than 5 cars on ehailing.. At times it is very tempting to do so ,but for now 5 is my max..

You, sir, a savvy business man. You should lead an MBA course on logistics, transportation and entrepreneurship.

Weldone sir.

I have read all your posts on this thread and today I'm going to address them.

This is why "Nigerian workers are bad". Bosses/owners make them so.

You obviously don't understand it costs more to find and retrain a new employee than it does to retain an old one. Same as customers. You obviously also don't understand what it takes to build LOYALTY and employee buy-in/ownership in your mission.

The companies that started fresh are struggling with new employees. Not to put my business out there but I made sure not to let ANYONE go during lockdown (even the ones I was thinking of firing before). I informed them because there was no income I could only afford to pay 40% and they were okay with that. How? FROM PROFITS WHEN THE GOING WAS GOOD. I prioritized their safety and opened later than other businesses. It was the employees who insisted they would take the risk and go to work until they couldn't. THEY came up with a plan where they took turns running a skeleton crew. Why? I was thinking of them and in turn they thought of me. They understand we are a TEAM through the good and the bad.

During lockdown they did everything they could to stay open or continue doing business quietly. Guess what? EVERY MONTH SINCE SEPTEMBER THEY HAVE BROKEN THE PREVIOUS SALES RECORD and IN MY ABSENCE! They are currently posting numbers almost DOUBLE what they posted before all the katakata started. Their productivity is through the ROOF and my complaints/mistakes are the lowest they've ever been, even with the ones I was considering firing. I have been contacted by other frustrated businesses owners asking what I did to make my employees so loyal as they tried to poach them repeatedly and they won't budge. I just tell them I treat them like I like to be treated. Even one of the so called "bad NL Uber drivers" now works for me and can testify to this if he chooses to reveal himself.

So please stop coming to this thread to insult and demoralize people trying to make a living. Create an Uber owner partner thread where you can criticize, insult and advice all you want and no one will bother you but savvy business man you are not in my opinion.

That's all the energy I have for your matter.

I totally agree!

Dru23 despite his disputes has repeatedly backed up everything he has ever said on this thread. I propose everyone ignores him from this day forward. First one to acknowledge jpworld's existence after this owes everyone a round of drinks at your next get together.

EDIT- below are the scanners we usually sell. They are out of reach for a lot of people which is why when I saw a need I found cheaper ones to give away. the fact this pus decided to get in my business is why I carry his matter for head. Apologies to the thread for derailing though it is technically a public service wink

With all due respect ma'am, you're just the female version of felicity and please I haven't said this to spite you. But what I don't understand is this back and forth of trying so hard, and i mean so hard, to make someone who cares less about you or what you represent to understand your stand point.

The way I see it?

The harder you try the more easily you compromise whatever integrity you still have left. I can't seem to understand why you will have to dig out personal WhatsApp records just to prove your point. What if jpworld comes out tomorrow to say glen is a 2min man, does that mean to prove otherwise you'll have to do a 45min video of him hitting you hard from behind, or from whatever your preferred position is?

Geez, I think its time for everyone to grow up and trash their ego.
