Omoikarekimire:Some part of the US are hot though. However, those in colder regions use wood for residential construction because insulation can be stuffed easily in-between woods. |

searchng4love:I don't think so... Burnt bricks are heavier to move and time consuming to make, does not give room for colour change while internal plumbing is impossible.. It's practically more expensive in Nigeria. |

Aconomist:One steel is no far superior and it's is not cheap and not light in weight. You don't need to use steel to build small structures but it is usually used in reinforcements. |

I even prefer woods to steel, building houses with woods is promoting the green technology. I love those USA and Canada homes built with woods |

Aconomist:The building skeleton above would still require concretes. Would still amount to double cost? Or how would you cover those spaces? |

n3xt:Your building below looks beautiful. In terms of cost, how much would it have cost if you were to use normal cement to make this? In percentage term. |

n3xt:Hmmmm. I don't know anything about architecture. I am open for knowledge. Are you a builder? Have you done steel building and concrete building b4. Were the costs differ greatly? |

I would love to see the interior of this building. Also won't it be easy for someone to break into the building through the walls n3xt: |

tollyboy5:mentality of limitations why think of scarcity ? as Americans build house reach - bridges tunnels, stadia, highways etc, we don’t even think of scarcity - even the Trump call most parts are steel abs never heated one day the contractors are skeptical of steel availability- hmmm |

Aconomist:Steel reinforcing bars are actually a key constituent of reinforced concrete, which we also use for building construction in Nigeria. Most of the structural failures are due to the absence of structural assessment of the building's design by a structural engineer before the building is erected. You can get away with this in a bungalow, or 1 to 2 storey building. However, for high-rise buildings, a thorough structural analysis must be performed by a team of qualified structural engineers. Assessments like resistance to wind loading, elasticity (yes, this sounds funny but is very critical), bearing capacity for both "dead" and "live" loadings, soil bearing capacity, etc. These are some of the major issues. |

Empiree:theres a middle ground. Just use rrgualr cement and make a smaller flatter brick. Nigerian houses are built with military grade walls lol. Theres no benefit to using our bricks unless youre trying to make sure nobody can hit you with a missle. if maka thieves, theives dont come through walls. A wall is a barrier against the elements of nature, not bazookas |
