If you can afford those expensive stuff,buy it and use. But don't do it to impress anyone. When the rich people decides to be stingy, how can the poor get some of the welath

I’m rocking my longspan aluminium jejely. I’ve used my Gerald money to buy two and half acres of cheap land that I will sell to yankee returnees who can buy and install Gerald roofing.

I’m not in competition.

Some people build bungalow( including myself) and then install Gerald because we like it. 90% of the time I wear wrist watch it is under my sleeve no one sees it. the wrist watch is not to impress anyone or to keep time. I wear it because my dressing process give me some level of satisfaction. I Like to open my shoe rack to select the right shoe, select the appropriate curve links and the right wrist watch. I am not a fashionista. it is only my wife and children that knows what is in my ward robe. My dressing is not to impress people but the process give me satisfaction. The same thing people can buy Gerald or Lexus not necessarily to impress anybody but to derive self satisfaction.

Below are three types of bench that my Mukaila can construct.
If you ask him to make a bench for you, he’d do the one in pic 1 but if you show him pic 3 and give him materials in pic 4 to work with, he’d produce something close to or better than pic 3.

That’s where creativity sets in!

You seem to think these benches are better that each other. They are not. they serve difference purposes. In fact if you asked me to choose I will choose Picture 1 because it can be used both indoor and outdoor. Picture 3 is permanently outdoor while you can use pic 2 outside pray it doesn't rain when you forget to bring it in.
But I got your point. If you don't like the way the bio digester chamber is exposed you can put a flower pot on or put a decorative light on it. The options are endless

I commend your effort in impacting young ones. However I think that is a different topic entirely. Buying Gerald instead of Long span does not stops one from giving back to society. Bill Gates live in Medina where average real estate cost is close to $3million. It didn't stops him from helping people all over the world. He didn't move to Newark New Jersey because the reduction in the cost of living can help more people.

If you are the one standing in the front in suit. what you are wearing are not just nice stuffs they are luxury to some people. Apple fan boy is a discussion for another day

Exactly! The Nigerian mentality abhor positive or friendly competitions, motivation, inspiration and always self-centred. When I left Nigeria I was amazed how I was received and provided with every possible materials to succeed by complete strangers. I still remember how my classmates and I used to dream and talked about technologies and means available abroad, today I am in a position to experience and work with what we have always dreamt about, if I die with those knowledge it's a complete waste hence I do my best to share and provide them the possibilities to experience the dream too, the means are open on the streets here why keep them to myself.

The area is a swap area so the piling is to prevent the house from sinking in the future.

It's just a normal 4 Bedroom bungalow foundation. Nothing special

I started promoting this solution as far back as 2014/2015. Here’s are true and interesting facts about the biodigester. Key points highlighted in bolded part below.

I think our naija marketers are just too lazy to provide adequate information to those who might be interested in using this solution.

ELEVEN FACTS ABOUT BIO DIGESTER TOILETS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Biodigester toilets are biodegradable systems that turns solid waste into organic manure for a safe disposal into the environment.

These toilet waste digesters aim to address the liquid and solid waste water treatment issues associated with traditional means of waste water treatment methods that we have become accustomed to and grew up using.

Some of these methods included the use of pit latrine, ventilated pits (KVIP) and more modern waste treatment means like cesspit, culvert tanks and septic tanks.

What is different from these other toilet waste management systems?

Unlike the cesspit and septic tanks that requires periodic emptying, biofil waste toilet biodigesters as the name suggest are biodegradable and does not require emptying (dislodging) the way septic tanks require trucks to do that.

Before explaining how this is done, the biodigesters described in this article are NOT those that produce gas for domestic purposes.

Here are the Eleven facts about biodegradable digesters that you need to know:

FACT 1: Where does this solution come from? History of biodigester toilets

The history of biodigesters is not clear but they became prominent after the 2014 severe cholera outbreak in some parts of Accra.
The solution was first introduced to me in Nigeria by a Ghanaian friend.

The Ghana Government with the aid of the World Bank agreed that considering the sanitation situation especially in low income households in Accra, these biodegradable waste digesters from the test of the effluent level would avert the problems we have in the way human waste is managed traditionally in Accra and its environs.

The Government through the GAMA Project has since been constructing these digesters for home owners in low income areas. This technology has proven to be a better option than traditional foul smelling cesspits and septic tanks in Ghana and has since helped considerably in reducing the problems brought about by the lack of effective human waste management systems

FACT 2: How do bio digesters work?

Biodigesters eliminate toilet waste water odors by overpowering the natural occurring bacteria mostly found in septic tanks and manholes.

For example in biofil digesters, the waste water from the flush unit (water closets) is organically filtered through a porous slab, allowed to penetrate a small rock-filled soak hole from which it leaches into the soil.

In places where there are gutters, the black water is organically filtered out of the bottom of the digester and drained into them.

Bio degradable toilet waste digesters have established themselves as the modern day answer to KVIPS, pit latrine and septic tanks as toilet waste treatment systems.

FACT 3: Where does the waste water from a biodigester go?

Because biodigester toilets are used as part of the process of treating biodegradable toilet waste water and sewage sludge, the process often referred to as anaerobic digestion is adopted.

Natural composting organic manure are introduced to treats all organic biodegradable materials through the natural process of anaerobic decomposition.

Flushed water and solid waste enter at the top of the biodigester where IMMEDIATE separation of solids and liquid contents of the waste occurs.

All liquids will then be organically filtered out of the bottom of the digester and drained into the soil where further and final decomposition occurs.

Other solids (toilet rolls & all degradable cleaning materials) are decomposed and converted into rich & safe soil for easy disposal in the environment.

Now the final effluent (waste water) produced is a clear odorless liquid suitable for discharge either into a waste watercourse, through a customized soak hole trenches or a drain filled system or can simply be stored in a tank through enhanced filtration and the waste water can be reused to water flower plants flowers on your compound .


FACT 4: Waste Water Soak Hole Pit Construction

We fill the bottom of the soak hole with a layer of rocks. With each rock about 3” in diameter.

The layer of large rocks will determine how many inches high they should be based on how the depth of the soak hole is going to be.

A typical construction of a soak hole must ensure that the bottom of the soak hole is 2’6” below the bottom of the leachate pipe hole to allow for easy filtration of the waste water into the digester.

The depth of the soak hole from the surface of the ground will depend on the water table for the toilet site.

FACT 5: What Becomes Of The Solid Waste In A Biodigester?

Because the biodigester is a simple compact onsite organic waste treatment system, it provides an enclosed space where the activities of the self-perpetuating population of earthworms and micro-organisms are optimized and used together with porous or wire mesh filtration are used to facilitate the rapid solid-liquid separation as well as to serve as attachment site for the micro-organisms in addition to coconut fibre which is used as the bulking material.

It uses a biological filter consisting of a fiber, medium of black soil and in some cases porous concrete. The bacteria and other organisms generated through this technology then biodegrades solid waste.

When the digesters get the maximum per day uses, it will take at least 5 years and as much as 15 years in some cases for the toilet waste box to get filled up and ready for emptying.

FACT 6: Reasons why people choose bio digester toilets

The cost and pricing of biodigesters has become a tussle point for some homeowners interested in digester waste toilet construction. Even though some have claim they are too expensive, in comparison to septic tanks there’s no doubt they have become the choice for most homeowners in Ghana today.

FACT 7: Biodigesters cost less to construct (install)

It is cheaper to install biodigester (as compare to digging a manhole or buying culverts for septic sewage tanks). The land space needed, the material list needed for construction all goes to attest to their low pricing as compare to other waste management systems.

Even the idea of digging all those feet’s and doing all those concrete works makes biodigesters your best bet any day.

Installation of a bio waste digester plus a soak-hole pit can all be done in a day if precast slabs are used. Two days if blocks are used.

Except plumbing works, the cost of a bio digester toilet installation is inclusive in the total digester cost.

FACT 8: Biodigesters are the most eco friendly biodegradable technology

Biodigesters are the most environmentally safe and highly improved means of treating toilet waste water. The use of locally sourced materials means that they are safe for the environment.

There’s no need to apply any special chemicals.

They are easy to maintain and do not come at any additional cost to the homeowner.

FACT 9: No more dislodging

There have been some misconception about this saying.

But what we are simply saying is that with DreamHouse biodigesters, you don’t need a typical truck to show up saying they are there to empty your tank.

Because digesters uses an aerobic digestion process, solid waste after a cycle (which usually last between 5 to 8 years) changes into sand (manure) which can easily be disposed of at your backyard.

As a result, no septic sludge is stored and as a result the bio digester product has a unique ‘odour free’ operation guarantee.

FACT 10: Groundwater not affected

Water is directed into top soils where microbial activities are most active. Nutrients are removed by soil bacteria decomposition. Because of the depth of the digester (about 3 feet depth) ground water is not affected.

Digesters are designed above ground and typically has no more than a week of decomposed contents in them.

FACT 11: Biodigesters have international approval

Not only do biodigester toilets in Ghana have governmental approval (you can check from the nearest District Assembly), they have also received worldwide acceptance by the World Bank.

In fact over the last 5 years the Government of Ghana has received over $150 million in grant from the World Bank as part of a project complementing efforts to provide low-income households with increased access to improved sanitation and water supply. Simply put are biodigesters are safe for everyone; private homes, offices and public needs.

. If the project is in Abuja and its environs I have a cheaper alternative for for you. Everything will cost you 5k/sqm, labour and materials. Only if the site is not more than 200km from Abuja. Zamfara/Sokoto can fly as I have some ongoing projects in the aforementioned states. It's called polystyrene ceiling, finished work looks like POP ceiling. From your experience, what is the ratio of bags/sponge to sqm. i.e. how many bags of POP cement will cover 1sqm or how many sqm will 1 bag of POP cement cover.

good morning. When you want to convert to inches, multiply the meter size by 39 and divide by 12 which is the value of 1ft. When it's in feet, you first convert to inches and then divide by 39

okay. The battery I am using is 150ah which cost 60k for one. So let's assume your house is 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom, you can manage 2 batteries. If your house is 4 bedroom or duplex you can use 4 batteries and have it in mind that you must be checking wattage of any electronics you are buying or using (the lower the wattage, the longer your battery will last after fully charged). You MUST use original AKT energy bulbs with 5-10 watts maximum in your house to make the batteries last longer.

So what's are needed :

1.. batteries 150ah cost 60k, 200ah cost 95k

2... Inverter (this will be the one to supply light and also charge the batteries when we are in raining season) price is 65k for 1kv and 120k for 2.5kv. you can buy used one to cut cost which is 35k for 1kv and 75k for 2.5k.

3... Solar panels. 150ah batteries needs 300watts to charge it full with 5-6hours sunlight. so you can buy 150watts 2 for 150ah battery which cost 25k per 150watt. If you don't want your roofing to be filled up with panels, you can buy single 300watts for 38-45k (but I prefer 150 watts)

4... charge controller: this is used to control the sunlight that will be charging your batteries with solar panels to avoid over charging. It cost 8-10k

5... You need wire that will connect your solar panels from.th roofing to the batteries inside. The price depends on the height of the roofing and the location of the batteries. price shouldn't be more that 10k assuming the house is 2 story building and you live down.

In conclusion, your pocket will give you what you want and the more the batteries and panels, the longer the power supply. When my batteries are fully charged (with 5-6 hours sunlight my batteries are full already) we use it from evening till the next morning.

There is always a cheaper version of expensive and redistribution of wealth. My understanding of the market is you pay the excess for the premium names and not it quality. Here we have laboratories/test centres that test cheaper products against expensive premium and the results are always alarming. Surprise! The cheaper products always performed better and gets higher marks than the expensive ones. They do this to avoid producers/brands from misleading the consumers/public that their products is the best.
Why should I buy a Versace jacket when an Oakwood can do the job to keep me warm?
