Deadlytruth:Oga your obsession with Zik and Igbos is not making you reason very well. If Zik wanted to cripple Awolowo how come NCNC and AG became a coalition in the 64 elections? So bros stop trying to skirt round the issue, and look for something more credible to use because this one doesn't hold water. |

Deadlytruth:Can you just leave your Bias and just analyze Ironsi's speech in detail. What Ironsi did was remove the regions in Name. He still kept the governing provinces intact. The Military governors were still there, but now they are acting as sole administrators of the collection of provinces that made up the former regions. The fiscal revenue sharing was not tampered except it was directed from the centre similar to the command structure of the Military he unified the civil service so that it can be similar to the central command structure of the military where you can be deployed anywhere to work. The real person that destroyed Federalism was Gowon when he repealed the unitary decree and came up with decree 14 that split the regions into states and consolidated the sharing formula based on population and mind you the skewed census figures gave the north the advantage in terms of population. |

You sacrificed him for quick wealth, yet poverty - both of the mind and soul - has refused to part ways with your pitiable, miserable life ! DEADLYTRUTH ,your Tormentor in Chief, is doing a good job of tormenting your miserable life with some very hard knocks. We all can see the result. You're already sounding like a broken Record having been dealt some deadly blows of facts laced with superior arguments. Yam legged, smelly descendant of primitive cannibals, that's who you are. |

Ironsi and Ojukwu were part of the Coup!!! That was why Ironsi didn't even bother to hand back Power to the Civilian Government and Ojukwu was promising Allison Ayida a Permanent Secretary Ironsi would scrap the regions within 6 months. Things were difficult for Ironsi because the Northern Soldier's and Ogundipe had found out that Ironsi and Ojukwu were part of the Coup that killed their Military Colleagues and Leaders!!!! Read this from Gen David Ejoor on how Ironsi tried to set traps for him on the day of the Coup and even sent a message to his 2ic in Enugu to take over as Ejoor was not coming back ( They expected the Coup Plotters to have killed him and were shocked when David Ejoor turned up alive ) https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://maxsiollun./2009/04/17/igbo-soldiers-plotted-coup-from-independence-day-ejoor/amp/&ved=2ahUKEwix6svAyvPtAhWVs3EKHQFlDv4QFjABegQIDxAB (Modify) (Quote) (Report) (Share)

Deadlytruth:What matters is what Ironsi did, not what he said. Whatever name or connotation Ironsi used to describe the Regions, the truth is that he did not tamper or change anything about the 4 Regions of the time. |

gidgiddy:That Constitution was the basis on which independence was agreed 3 different regions mostly in charge of themselves As Awolowo said that Constitution was written with Wisdom by the founding Fathers to make sure their Future Generations would live together in Peace and Prosperity and Wealth |

Christistruth00:But Ironsi that didn't last up to six months and only promulgated one decree the unitary decree which was later repealed by Gowon how did all laws get made by him? You see why I say most people maliciously twist history to suit their unconscious bias and their own narratives. |

Christistruth00:Another lie from the pit of hell Ironsi and Ojukwu were never part of the coup. Go and read the report of the police special branch led by Alhaji MD Yusuf that report was the only authentic review of that coup. Others wrote based on their own convictions. Ironsi and Ojukwu were exonerated by MD Yusuf of complicity in that coup. Thank God for social media so that those who really know history can once and for all dispel all these lies |

Christistruth00:Ejoor was a biased man. Ejoor also lied in that comment. All Batallion commanders were invited for a party by Maimalari and Ejoor as batallion commander in enugu had to join that was why Ironsi prevailed on him not to go to Enugu. Again Ejoor was the main reason why the coup failed in Enugu because he rushed back to Enugu and ensured that the guys detailed to take Enugu were arrested and the armoury keys handed over to him. But to suit the lie that the coup didn't happen in the east and to satisfy his northern masters Ejoor deliberately hid his role in ensuring that the coup never happened in the east. |

obynzo:How long Ironsi stayed in power is not the issue here but that his deeds during his regime laid the foundation for all the structural failure we had today. Why must he take over power from the civilians despite there was no such provision in the constitution he, on his inauguration day as GOC, solemnly swore to protect and defend in all circumstances? He couldn't even abide by his oath of office. Such an irresponsible leader of the army. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 6:26am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:This is your problem. What you are ignorant of you call it a lie. You are just too childish! If Zik wasn't back to the side of the NNA then how come there were still issues of him still being president to be inviting the military to intervene as he refused to statutorily call upon Balewa to form the government? |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:27am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Bros you are the one who is rather childish you cannot back up your lie as a result you throw insults. That will ot work |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:30am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Please read Banjo's letter to Ironsi where he stated that he was among those who prevailed on him to allow the army take over the government. The truth is you were not born those that were born could testify to the fact that prior to 66 the Balewa government had lost control and it was only a matter of time something had to give. You are just bust screaming without even having a thorough analysis of the situation. Had Balewa been more circumspect with his actions Jan 66 would not have happened. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 6:32am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:If Zik was not back in NNA, then how come he still retained his position in government after the NNA had been declared winner of the 1965 elections? Didn't the East later break the UPGA agreement to boycott the election? |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 6:36am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:The more reason Ironsi was an irresponsible and power hungry idiot. If he himself wasn't greedy how could he fall for an advice from his own inferior officer to violate his sacred oath of office? Do you now see that Ironsi sowed the seeds of indiscipline, lack of professionalism and non-adherence to the culture of seniority in the Nigerian Army? |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:37am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:There was a stalemate Zik refused to recognise and form a government with Balewa because of the irregularities in the election. You seem to conveniently dodge that fact. There was an NCNC/AG alliance and it was not broken. Bros easy with the lies abeg |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:38am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Respect the dead. The man you call idiot has achieved more than your ancestors. For him to even listen to counsel of his officers shows you that the man was an approachable leader and not a dictator in the military |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 6:40am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:Neither were you yourself born then. If Balewa was losing it then, was military take over supposed to be the answer? Didn't Ironsi too end up losing it so badly that Nigeria became the mess it is today? If Balewa wasn't circumspect can we describe Ironsi as being better of than Balewa in being circumspect? The same Ironsi who surrounded himself with Northern army officers as security details at a time Northerners were seething with anger over his brothers brutal and lopsided murder of Ahmadu Bello and Balewa. Was that how to be circumspect? The same Ironsi was told of a Gowon and T.Y. Danjuma involvement in impeding revenge coup by Maddiebo his brother from the east and surprisingly he invited Gowon and T.Y. Danjuma to his office and asked Maddiebo to repeat what he said to him before the duo. Was Ironsi by so doing not far worse than Balewa in not being circumspect? When you Igbos talk you don't think deeply in this your quest to defend Ironsi's blunders at all cost. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:41am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Ironsi didn't sow any seeds of indiscipline but rather it was Gowon, and that seeds of indiscipline as Ojukwu told him would haunt him later when the boys he nurtured to disrespect Ogundipe as colonels removed him from power while he was in Kampala |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by odogwux(m): 6:41am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:Ejoor had absolutely no character. A very cowardly, dishonest and two faced man. A man that even his colleagues laughed at for his riding bicycle to Lagos comedy |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 6:42am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Bros you are just shifting goal posts if Ironsi messed why didn't gowon rectify it? Nigeria's mess what not and I repeat not Ironsi's fault. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 6:56am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:So violating his solemnly sworn oath of office was not an act of indiscipline? Refusing to punish majors who killed their seniors in cold blood was not a way to show the seeds of indiscipline in the army? Did you even read what you wrote before posting it? |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 7:00am On Dec 30, 2020*. Modified: 3:42pm On Jan 17, 2021 |
obynzo:Gowon was already trying to rectify the mess but had to halt it because of Ojukwu's intransigence. Moreover, Gowon didn't take over power from the civilians like Ironsi did. As at when Gowon took over power, there was no longer a democratic structure on ground for him to have handed over power back to. In fact there was no constitution on ground again. It had become a chaotic situation. But Ironsi met on ground a political structure and the very cconstitution he swore to protect and defend and which clearly spelt out what he should do in that circumstances but he refused and chose to start drafting his own selfish and Igbocentric constitution to pursue a separate agenda totally different from genuine national interest. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 7:14am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:As long as the results of that election had been declared by the electoral commission, it was valid until upturned by a court. So without going to court, Zik was doing an illegality by disputing the election outside the courts while still trying to retain his position. However his refusal to resign from the government to pursue the case in court meant he still saw himself as part of the NNA governing coalition. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 7:20am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:I should respect a dead man who laid the foundation of all the problems we face till today? Why haven't you given this same admonition to your brother here who just called David Ejoor some vile names here? What did Ironsi achieve other than a constitutional crisis which ended up in a war that took the lives of over 3 million of his own innocent civilian kinsmen? Do you even know what an achievement is? |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Deadlytruth(m): 7:24am On Dec 30, 2020 |
obynzo:Nigeria's mess was wholly Ironsi's fault for introducing military rule at all in the first instance and therefore violating the people's sovereignty and power to determine who leads them and change the person by themselves when they are no longer okay with him. |
| Re: Throwback Photos From The Burial Of Aguiyi Ironsi In 1966 by Nobody: 7:27am On Dec 30, 2020 |
Deadlytruth:Ironsi didn't create any constitutional crisis. The whole crisis started with Balewa remove your unconscious bias and analyse the issue clearly |
