Please what cgpa is guaranteed for getting a masters degree. Is 3.59 ok for msc. Please anyone. Let me know where my head is. Can't waste money.
Hi,

Your 2.1 is eligible to apply for an M.SC, but it's not always about CGPA, Research Potentials is very important , cos you can't just apply for an M.SC admission if a Professor has not accepted you to his laboratory.

The above brings about the below question

- Are you going for a Thesis-based Masters in Computer Science?

If yes,

Have you made attempts in Sending Mails to Potential Supervisors (Professors) for M.SC positions in their Computer Laboratory?

If a Professor has decided to accept you in his Laboratory for an M.SC position, that will give you an assurance you are likely going to get the Admission & your Application fee won't be a waste

I travelled with my kids on Monday the 28th Dec. Kids' written approvals did not come out on time and I did not expect that it will considering we only found our about it a week to our travel dates. We decided to take the risk regardless as it was really expensive to do a date change and the only available dates would have been end of January, long after commencement of lectures. We were able to enter into Canada without any issues. Also no1 asked for the written authorization. Pls note that I am Nigerian, international student, but kids are Americans though reside with me in Nig. We had a bit of delay before the airline carried us from Nigeria though but the focus was more on my status as an international student just coming into Canada not a returning student, not so much about the kids accompanying me without an authorization. A family friend had a different experience a few days before though as the airline refused to carry them without the authorization. So i dont know if its cos of the nationality of the kids or the discretion of the airline. Thought to share the experience for anyone that needs it. All d best fellow mothers

Goodbetterbest:

Hi there. I applied with my kids...still waiting for approval. What is this authorization letter you speak of? How can one get it? Please keep us updated if its not too much to ask. I pray you meet your deadline. Compliments of the Season

I’ll advise you try master’s
Chiphunter:

I’m checking my option for both.
What would you advise due to the fact that I schooled in Cotonou

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Chocs(f): 3:33am On Dec 31, 2020
In addition to what lentomac has said. There are 2 types of master’s:

Course-based Master’s: no need to be accepted by a professor, most likely no funding will be available since no thesis will be done. Less competitive admission process.

Thesis-based Master’s: Mostly likely have to be accepted by a professor (90-95% of the time), there’s usually funding available. More competitive admission process.

It's extremely difficult to understand how those guys work. Although in my own case, I probably didn't disturb them (read as send them mail) enough. When I started asking questions, things changed.
