ABIA (Isuikwuato LGA): New wave of criminality, hoodlums uproot rail lines | SEE PHOTOS

A new form of crime is gradually taking root in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia, as some hoodlums are seen uprooting the federal rail lines passing through some communities in the LGA.

AFNEWS reliably gathered that this gang act has been ongoing for a while. It was discovered that those perpetrating this criminal acts are colluding with locals of the affected communities to uproot the rail-lines which they sell as steel to recycling companies.

AFNEWS also gathered during investigation that the first set of individuals arrested for their involvement in this heinous act were taken to the Isuikwuato police station, but were however released by the police. Few days ago another set of hoodlums were also arrested uprooting the rail lines passing through Amaba and Ovim communities in Isuikwuato LGA.

This news sources as at the time of filing this report, gathered that those arrested are still under police custody, however the questions begging for answers is on whose authority are these individuals operating? Do they have the legal authority to attack and merchandise critical national infrastructure just because it is located in their domain?

AFNEWS is therefore using this medium to call on the the people of Isuikwuato to rise and protect national assets within their communities and not allow criminal elements destroy assets meant for the good of the generality of the masses. This is also a call to the Nigerian Police Force to embark on a thorough investigation to unmask all those involved in this dastard act.

The Local Government Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA is also by this medium been called upon to be alive to his responsibility by following up this case to ensure that all those involved in this new phase of criminality in Isuikwuato are prosecuted, as this will serve as a deterrent to others intending to carry out such acts in the future.

I saw this act in Aba and Umuahia

Even though these facilities are useless for the purpose meant for over a long period doesn’t mean they should be vandalized and sold

Since train is no longer using it, it is better to uproot it and the owner of the land should take back their land.

Nonsense

If this report is actually true, then, it is not logically justifiable on the ground of poverty but greed, sabotaging, blindness and moral decadence.

Those guys have done a great disservice to the adjoining terminals and communities. They shouldn't come online and start crying blue murder because they can't hold the few given to them.

Hoodlums in Abia uproot and vandalize rail lines passing through their communities to sell as scrap metal.

This is national sabotage that must be investigated and the perpetrators arrested.

No sane human will be part of this.

No need for any investigation. They don’t want the rail, period. And Buhari will not waste South South oyel money to build infrastructure for people who will vandalize and steal it. Stealing and vandalism is in their blood. It is their heritage. They tried it in Lagos the other time using #EndSARS for cover.

This is Abia state for you - one of the most underdeveloped states in the whole world.
A state where people actively support and promote evil. You can tell by the kind of criminals they keep electing each time as governors.
