Hello,
I want to know if all is well with my 11months old daughter who has not really crawl on her knees but had tried crawling on her chest many times. This is becoming a concern to me as some baby of her age are already walking.
What do I do?

Hm.

Some children don't crawl but go straight up to walking. Though the attempt to walk will be there.

Is she making any attempt to walk? Like holding things to get up and moving around?

Are her legs bent inward at the ankle?
Are her feet very narrow, like what's the width of her under feet?

If she's not making any attempt to walk at that age and has any of the above features I mentioned, then something might be wrong somewhere.

Also take her to physio to check her bones to be sure it's not the cause.

She just don’t want to crawl in life. Let her be, when the time is right for her to walk, she’ll walk not crawl.

Place her on her tummy and gently push her feet or bumbum forward to give her an idea of how to do it. Then put your phone or anything else she likes in front of her but out of her reach to encourage her to reach forward and push herself to get it.

Remember to do tummy time frequently, it's very important.

But in everything just remember that children develop at different pace so relax and please don't pressure her too much. You mentioned that she is trying to crawl on her chest, as long as she is already moving if she gets frequent opportunities to crawl she will learn to move on her knees instead.

Same as my niece last year..

We were all afraid she wasn't going to work until one evening when she just got up and started working without even first crawling.

If she was vaccinated against poliomyelitis, then there's nothing to worry about.

It's a common practice from where I come from that of a mother that is breastfeeding her baby goes out to have sex with another man at any given time, the baby will likely not walk for a long time or for a life time.....


But that is just fetish......



Try using baby toys to have the baby want to have a touch of it and then you shift it to the front and keep doing that to see how the baby progresses in making steps....


This usually happens if the baby is your first child....

I didn't start walking till I was almost 2...if one neighbor had not forced me to walk ehn...hmm .. and when I started walking, I ran towards the main road all excited till someone ran after me just keep encouraging your baby. If it's to play with her on the floor do it...but it seems she wants greatness she wants to walk straight up like someone said above...get her a walker at this stage

OP, is ur baby chubby?

my 2nd didn't crawl. pushed around with his chest for 2 mths then started walking at 1 yr. His father was very afraid cos he walked at almost 3 yrs out of fear. MIL took him to the village and they buried his limbs in the earth. by evening he started walking.

If she can hold things to stand and walk, fret not but if the legs are wobbling, see a paediatrician.

Sorry oo your enemies are at work and your baby may be possessed, run to your pastor for deliverance. I believe those are the words you want to hear right now. Better allow your child do things at her own pace and stop crying. Children of this century do things their own way and not our own way.

Maybe you don't let her touch ground again. Some people are always carrying their children up and down, from back to back. Too much love stunts physical development. Girls also tend to take a longer time to crawl or walk (though they will tire you with talking about all the rumours in the street at 6months of age, while a boy is still learning to say "Baba").

Lay her down on her belly sometimes. Let her play on the floor. At 11 months she should be ready to walk, so she may never learn to crawl again. Teach her to stand (with support at first) while holding on to the side of a table or chair. Then gradually start encouraging her to start taking steps by walking her at first, then gradually letting her try on her own.

If you think there may be something physically wrong, take her to a paediatrician for an examination, or ask him to carry one out when next you're there for any reason. But personally, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Girls tend to be physically lazy at that age. If it was a boy, he would have been trying to jump fences and climb mango trees by now.

She looks perfectly fine. She ha never made an attempt to get up and hold something. She can crawl on her chest and sit down on her own but not to use something to stand.
Her physique is good. Her legs are normal. But whenever i tried to make her stand on her leg, she will bend it in ward or sort off. Sometimes, she will stand straight for a short time.

I think the problem is with her bones. Try and get her seven seas cod liver oil for children. Then increase her vit D intake from food sources like milk and fish. Also take her to a physio for bone check. Please.

Did she cry immediately after birth?Was her skin blue after she was born instead of pink?

yes, we massage the legs as normal during birth esp when bathing.
