ogbeni shut up and stop making fool of yourself jare.. 70% of pos shop wont accept transfer.. they are at the risk of more loss compared to customers.. it is almost impossible for the pos to have your card details and even if it has it , you would need to input the pin to initiate every transaction...

Just so you know, most of our atm details are for sell in darkweb for as cheap as $50.. so incase of op, it is either his wife atm is cloned or someone close to her used the atm then delete it.. years ago I did this for my dad since he no dey use atm that year , he would always go to the bank to withdraw ... Immediately i used it , I will just delete alert and do fem.. the day I transfer 40k was when he noticed and decided to go to the bank on monday ( it was actually friday )..oboy I quickly returned the money on Saturday and I told him the bank don rectify the issue... grin I thief my papa money no be small..
Btw, I'm not a pos agent , but this is common sense..

Most accounts are swiped due to carelessness.. but still any account can be swiped. best thing is not to have atm card atall ..

Most pos agent don’t collect transfer

Cox they don’t want fraudsters using their account as middleman to transfer money from hacked account

So they always insist on atm card

What about the ATM cards they collect?

Do they find out if a customer is the true owner of the ATM card or not?

undecided

Log on to your bank account online and go to the statements section.
Bring up copies of each statement listed until you find the transaction you are looking for.
Note the date of the transaction and the amount, along with the transaction ID number as listed on the statement. Call or visit your bank to get more information on the transaction.
The more information you can supply the bank, the more information they will be able to give you about the specific transaction you are trying to trace.

GOODLUCK!

bank can't release another person info for her..

Did the pOS merchant stole the card from your wife?

This is a simple case of stealing, carried out by an insider who has access to your wife's phone.

Debit alert was sent, and the person deleted it.

oga stop saying things you don't know. don't let poverty make you think you are smart. there is no POS machine that can ever save a customers pin! not even the number at the front! in case you don't know, all pos machine has a bank acquirer. so which bank will give you a machine that will allow you save sensitive data that even a bank manager cannot assess. may God help your ignorance. you clearly have not done pos business before so sh*t up. kelloger ni kelloger ko. trying to be clever when you are dumb.

Now I see the level of your tech advancement.

I do POS transaction and it's strictly based on transfer with the agent I use.

As a good customer, the agent doesn't have any issue with me.

You are the dumber here.

he gave you the reply befitting of an idiot like you. how will you say POS agent are thieves? you and your USSD transfer criminals should never come close to POS stand, we know your type. any sensible POS agent don't accept USSD transfer because of quick teller boys like you

Point to where I said POS agents are thieves.

Na guilty conscience dey worry una...

Same way we have bankers stealing customers' funds in the banking system is the same way we have POS agents stealing funds from customers secretly.

The above statement doesn't mean ALL POS agents or BANKERS are bad. There are always bad eggs in the system.

For you to be this pained about my stand on using USSD, you must be one of the bad eggs who needs to be checked.

Nobody has the monopoly to scams.

Most POS agents refuses this type of transfer transactions cos it lands them in trouble. Some of the customers are fraudsters with fake alert, or uses a stolen phone to do the transfer.

My neighbour's daughter got into trouble with her bank. She had to pay 55k she didn't eat.

Some people would do transfer and still report to their banks that their account was used for fraudulent transactions.

So, are you saying some people who use ATM cards at POS terminals too can't report to their banks that their account was used for fraudulent transactions?
Re: PHOTOS : How Do I Track A Fraudulent POS Transaction? by johnkay1(m): 8:37am On Jan 09, 2021
Somebody actually take her ATM to that pos and withdrew the said amount.

I've not seen POS machine that withdraw with only ATM card number alone. The only cardless withdrawal will send token to your phone number to be confirmed from POS.

Snapping your ATM card number can only be used to buy things online not withdrawing on POS.

This particular one is perpetuated by someone close to her who have access to her card and also know her PIN

On the 6th of January, the sum of Twenty Five Thousand (25000) Naira was fraudulently withdrawn from my wife's Stanbic ibtc Bank Account. What baffles me was she didn't get alert for the transactions till even as i types this. She found out her money was missing when she bought airtime directly from her account.

We went to the bank to get statements of her account put realised her ATM CARD was used on the POS centre and machine below in the picture.

Please, how do we track this transaction?
Thanks

How many times do POS agents ask if a customer is the true owner of the account or device he/she is transferring from?

That's the reason they are even more at risk than the user. Not defending some bad eggs among them(of course their is no profession that doesn't have bad eggs) but that business on its own is risky.
Back to the topic, there is no doubt it's an insider job that may not even relate with the POS agent.
Infact with the screenshot,it shows the card was used in a supermarket.

You're right...both POS agents and customers are at risks.

Let's see how it pans out.

I hope the OP gives us feedbacks on this thread.

Yen yen yen. The same way you're painting us black is how God will paint you black. There's no doubt there are are evil people every where trying to sabotage the good one's image. But doesn't mean you should generalise it. How has the withdrawal affected the POS merchant? He came to their house to steal the card abi? Everyone is trying to avoid problem so even if come to me make withdrawal by transferring to me, don't you I am also at risk? How do I believe the account is even yours?
You dey mind him. I had to repay 67k someone came to my shop to make a transfer unknowing to me that the money was coming from a gunpoint/robbery scene, to cut the long story short sha I was arrested the next day for being an accomplice. May God save us.

I gave you insights why POS agents don't usually accepts transfer transactions. It has landed so many of them in trouble. Many have paid what for money they didn't steal.

The Nigerian system dont really protect POS agents on transfer transactions so long the money was transferred to an account. Even businessmen have fallen victim of the ussd/app transfer transactions.

Now, for your question above; they can make reports. And your reply does not correlate with what I said earlier.

Using ATM Card at POS terminals puts you at risks.

Try as much as possible to make USSD transfer to the POS agent account when you need to transact.

You need to run away from any POS agent who refuses to receive transfer from you.

No let dem run you street.

don't be naive bro.. You should never allow your atm to leave your sight while using it at a pos center.. Never allow him or her focus too much on your card..

You can't trace the POS unless the back itself take it upon themselves to help you. You visit the bank and call their customer care line. I meant superior customer from there Head office. They would be able to help you.

look at your short brain, does bank ATM verify if the card is for the owner? as far your pin is correct the POS operator does not owe you any explanation. you go and open your own pos and be embarrassing your customers.

As I am talking to you, a friend just called me that someone transferred a 200k to his account and that his bank already placed his account on lien because of it that they needed the transferrer name. I told him that once he gets to the bank, police is taking him away.

A woman came over to one of my PoS' outlets the other day. She was jittery and restless.

Fast forward>>>>

I handled d transaction by myself. After the transaction, she got alert in a phone. She shouted yes, in excitement! "This is why I came with the phone, so I can delete the alert she proclaimed". I asked why? And she said, it's her husband's ATM card. I said oh! I was like if ur husband could trust you enough with his ATM pin...... And she said that I won't understand. I mind my business after all

My point is, someone close is most of the times responsible for such cash out. A good thief will not spare any amount in the account.
You guys should check; there's a resident thief close by.

MOST PoS AGENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE. MOST!
