Where Do We Go When We Die? by Nazgul: 8:31am On Jan 10, 2021
Good morning and happy Sunday. This question has really been bothering me cos we've been made to believe that once a person dies, he'll either go to heaven or hell. But the Bible is saying something totally different.

Let's observe these three scriptures.

1Thessalonians 4:16-17
King James Version
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Revelation 20:13-15
13 [a]And the sea gave up her dead, which were in her, and death and hell delivered up the dead, which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 [b]And death, and hell were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.

[b] Matthew 22:23-46
23 (A)On that day some (B)Sadducees (who say (C)there is no resurrection) came to [a]Jesus and questioned Him, 24 saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘(D)If a man dies having no children, his brother as next of kin shall marry his wife, and raise up children for his brother.’ 25 Now there were seven brothers among us; and the first married and died, and having no [c]children, he left his wife to his brother. 26 It was the same also with the second brother, and the third, down to the seventh. 27 Last of all, the woman died. 28 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her in marriage.”

29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, (E)since you do not [d]understand the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither (F)marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 32 ‘(G)I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, (H)they were astonished at His teaching.

In the first scripture it talked about the rapture. The second coming of Christ. It says the dead in Christ shall rise first, meaning when people die good or bad, they remain the in ground according to that passage pending when the trumpet shall sound. But this contradicts what we were taught in Sunday School that once you die and you're a Christian you'll find yourself in Paradise.

The second passage confirmed the first passage that there are actually people in the ground whose souls are waiting for judgement. It says the sea gave up the dead, meaning those who died and we're buried in the earth, those buried in the water or anywhere else would be resurrected on the last day to face judgement. Here also doesn't speak of the dead immediately going to heaven or hell upon death.

Finally the last passage was an answer Jesus was giving to the Sadducees. He made them understand that even though there's a resurrection it would happen on the last day and not immediately after death.

My question is If the dead are already in heaven as we're made to believe, how do they rise at the second coming?

Or would they descend from heaven back to their graves on earth then resurrect to face the last judgement?

If all the evil people are already in hell, why will the sea and the earth give up the dead in them for judgement and why will the book of life be opened to check if their names are written on it since they've already been jugded and thrown into hell?

I'll like to be clarified on this issue.

[quote author=Nazgul post=97905971]Good morning and happy Sunday. This question has really been bothering me cos we've been made to believe that once a person dies, he'll either go to heaven or hell. But the Bible is saying something totally different.

1. The second coming of Christ is different from the rapture. The second coming is when the saints return with Christ. You’ll see that in Rev 19. (I thess 4:13-18) is the rapture.
2. When a Christian dies, his soul goes to be with the Lord, awaiting rapture for the redemption of his body. See (Rom 8 ) to understand the redemption of the body. (1 Cor 15:51-53) will tell you about that mystery.
3. When a lost man dies, he goes to hell, awaiting judgement.
4. The passage you put up on Rev 20 is the second resurrection, also known as the resurrection of the dead. This will be the lost people that died from Adam to the end of the millennial reign of Christ. That’s why the ones in hell will come out for judgement, after that they will be thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the last product of hell.
5. These will take a lot of time to put you through. If you need to know, send me a pm, when i have time, i will put you through it.

This question usually plagues those who believe that humans have a dualistic framework, for those of us who see no reason to believe such things, it is clear that the human ends at death. When a movie ends we understand that the story that movie is telling has ended and while you can speculate on what happened to the characters, you know that they don't go on in some other place. When the human being dies there is no continuation, the story has ended, the movie finished.

Death is only a change of world....from the physical or material to the spiritual..

We are made up of spirit from God the father and body from God the mother(mother nature) who provided the dust for the body. When we die our silpirit becomes one with God the father who gave it and our body becomes one with God the mother who gave it...

Nazgul:

My question is If the dead are already in heaven as we're made to believe, how do they rise at the second coming?

God never promised anyone heaven, the permanent destination God planned for mankind is Earth {Psalms 115:16} Adam's sin brought oldage, sickness and death upon all his descendants that's why we're dying {Romans 5:12} Jesus' assignment is to reconcile humans back to God by [1]Teaching us how to please God [2]Sacrificing his perfect human life to pay off our sin [3]Set up a government that will rule us for 1,000 years and lead us to perfection.
This government supposed to be stationed in Jerusalem {Isaiah 2:4} but the Jews profaned the city by killing God's servants and finally Jesus' was Condemned in the same city. So God Condemned Jerusalem! Matthew 23:37-38
God foresaw what the Jews will do and show his son (Jesus) who told his disciples the evil that will befall Jerusalem {Matthew 24:2} that's what brought grief to the minds of his disciples so Jesus has to tell them that he is going to prepare another place where the government seat will be established (heaven) John 14:1-4

So it's just the limited number that will rule with Jesus that's going to heaven not all good people, for your information none of those who lived before John the baptist is going there! Matthew 11:11

Or would they descend from heaven back to their graves on earth then resurrect to face the last judgement?
All dead people will remain in their graves until Jesus comes to take away his limited corulers, after that Jesus and this born again Christians will come back (as spirit forces) to destroy all none Christians, while the living Christians will be alive with nothing to shake them {Psalm 91:7} then comes the time to resurrect people back to life on earth {Revelations 20:13} all those destroyed by God's judgment will not be resurrected only people who had no opportunity of hearing God's warning but it's the Christians who had died that must be resurrected first to welcome these ones. Then the Christians will begin a global preaching and teaching work that will not be distracted by false religions {Revelations 20:3} this will continue for 1,000 years until all those on planet earth become perfect, no oldage, sickness or death will cause any stress or grief for people that time. That's the meaning of 1,000 year reign of Christ because it's only Jesus' teachings that the whole earth will be studying throughout that time!

If all the evil people are already in hell, why will the sea and the earth give up the dead in them for judgement and why will the book of life be opened to check if their names are written on it since they've already been jugded and thrown into hell?
It's misinformed Churchgoers teaching that people are going to a place of torment, the Bible book of Revelation was written in signs and symbols so it's not to be taken literally, God has no intention of tormenting people in fire {Jeremiah 7:31; 19:5} after the 1,000 years of intense training everyone will become perfect like Adam, only those who failed to comply with the teachings will die (as youths) when they're 100 years of age {Isaiah 65:20} the rest will survive and nobody will grow old or sick. Then Jesus must release Satan and the demons to come and tempt people for the last time {Revelations 20:3} This is necessary as most of us are blaming Adam and Eve today saying "if i was the one God gave all those goodies, i will never disobey my God" so the stage will be set to come and prove yourself. The only people who won't experience this are those limited number that Jesus has taken to heaven with him {Revelations 20:5-6} all those on planet earth by then are still not qualified until Satan is destroyed for good. Then God will declare everlasting life for all of us {Revelation 21:3-4} if you will like to know more about this wonderful program please contact JWs in your area for more information.

For now we're passing through the darkest period in the history of mankind, i pray to see you there when all things has become new in PARADISE! Luke 23:43 smiley

Good morning and happy Sunday. This question has really been bothering me cos we've been made to believe that once a person dies, he'll either go to heaven or hell. But the Bible is saying something totally different.

The highlighted shows that you're hungry for spiritual truths and it's commendable. Matthew 5:3

But you see, to satisfy that urge it is essential to locate the right source because just anybody out there can claim to be a Christian. Such a person might even own a Bible and claim that he reads and uses it. Often, he'll tend to misapply and miscontrue scriptures in an effort to put up an argument.

Is his example different from a mechanic who lacks technical skills and even attempts to fix a motor engine with a car jack?
That's the same case with a so-called Christian who cannot use the Bible effectively. Matthew 7:21-27

The title of our thread asks, in effect: Where do we go when we die? which is a very straightforward question. The simple answers to that question are found at Genesis 3:19, Psalm 146:4 & Ecclesiastes 3:20.

Meanwhile, the first question you should be asking is why we die in the first place which MaxInDHouse has already answered for you so I need not get into all of that. Romans 5:12

OP all you need to do is welcome a visit(by telephone) from one of Jehovah's Witnesses. They'll handle any other question that's bothering you. Like MaxInDHouse has already done above, another Witness in your area of local residence will take it up from where he stopped and will guide you to more fountains of spiritual truths which will in turn set you free from falsehoods. John 8:32

NO it's not always about choices!
Many makes wrong choices and today are living fine while many decided to live right yet end up as paupers! The hardship my friend is talking about isn't about his own personal condition but what is happening generally.
You can't walk with your woman to feel the sight of the dark sky with it's twinkling tiny stars.
You can mistakenly drop something valuable and expect the next person to pick for you.
You can't go to the market and get the value for your money due to the insincerity of marketers.
You can't leave your doors even when you've been with your neighbours for decades.
You are scared of the oncoming neighbour at night whereas you're 100% sure he/she is human not a beast.
These and many more are what contributed to the hardship we are talking about not just our own personal lacking! undecided

First and formost, the genesis account is a jewish creation myth. Every culture has one. Adam simpky means man, it is a short form of the word "Adamah" which simply means taken from the earth. And Eve means woman. They are not proper names.
The story is not literal , it is a recast of an earlier babylonian epic. It tells of how Man lost or forfeited the chance to dwell on earrh forever. . So you interpreting the story as literal simply shows you lack spiritual understanding..

From Dust you where made and to dust you shall return..

The serpent in jewish folklore simply means " to beguile"

Not devil or satan. Those beings dont exist in judaism..
