With the present global challenges of Corona virus, what is your prediction on Naira...free fall?

Covid-19 virus has caused a global shock and every country are looking for means tO manage the situation but Nigeria been a mono-economy that depends on Oil revenue for almost everything will find it hard managing the present situation.
our reserves are down and may go down further, Oil price is currently at $34 which is below the benchmark of $57 which was used for the 2020 budget. In summary its only natural for the Naira to be on a free fail.


What is your advice on investment in Naira and dollars/Euros?
Many analyst at the beginning of the year recommended that it would pay to diversify your portfolio to dollar, especially if you have future dollar obligations.

Is it wise to divert investment in Naira to foreign currency?
YES but not all, also be careful at what rate you exchange your naira to dollar, don't exchange at a very high rate because what we are currently experiencing is people buying for speculative reasons which is fueling the demand for dollars, there is the possibility that is will be short lived and those who bought at a high rate will be at a loss.

Well done guys, am just hearing about Eurobonds for the first time. Please permit me to ask a few newbie questions.

So am interested in the interest rate or profit one can get for investing. Someone said 6 to 7%, is that annually? That’s if I invest $3000k, I will get $270 after 180days or 12months. If that what it means it’s too poor or there is other incentive attached.

Secondly, at the end of 180days period you can take back your money easy?

Interest rate is generally low at the moment, not sure i can recommend anything beyond that, for starter i recommend you go online to read about Treasury Bills, Fixed deposit, Bonds(savings bond and co) euro-bonds, after reading i could some of your questions.

Yields are currently low like you rightly referenced. What minimum yield are you seeking? What is your time-frame, since most dollar-based mutual funds expect 6-months at the minimum?

1. Stanbic IBTC has a dollar-based fund (see snapshot below). However, they usually display their returns in terms of Net Asset Value (NAV), rather than yield, since the price of the underlying fluctuates measurably and is marked-to-market daily. You can expect a total return of ~3.5 to 4%, based on the current yields and prices of the underlying FGN Eurobonds.

2. There are other alternative investment products as the Kudy Financial Eurobond fund and Cowrywise dollar mutual fund. You can send them an enquiry email for additional queries.
