What are your expectations?
A 4-course meal. Served by waiters and butlers in a Silver service manner?

I don't need a 4 course meal of course, nothing luxurious. Just considering traveling with kids so I can thoroughly make adequate plans to stock up the backpack

Now I understand where you are coming from.

Can you email HomeOffice first to explain your situation? I think considering this situation you should be able to renew your brp with expired passport.

Fantastic idea. Thank you Just wise

Gurus in the house, how lucrative and what's the job prospect for someone who studied 'M.Sc. operation management' in the UK?

Disclaimer: I am not a guru.
My ‘church mind’ advice:
I would advise the person to visit UK job sites (such as indeed, Reed, CV library, TotalJobs, etc). Search carefully for the skill sets required of an MSc Operation Management holder.

My inner thoughts: MSc in operations management (on its own) will not place you above other applicants in the job market.

Gentlemen and ladies,

While we are on issue of expired passport; what will be the implications of sending off the expired or almost expiring passport to get renewed in Nigeria and get sent back without actually travelling?

You didn’t seem to catch my humour and sarcasm.

Are you aware that during passport renewal, a phot is taken, and also fingerprints?

Has the person any other experience apart from this master's degree?
If the person has some experience in the whole supply chain, logistics, procurement area, preferably in an MNC, they could give the UK a shot. Otherwise, my opinion would be that that degree alone makes no real difference to anyone's place in the long long line of jobseekers.

Oh, no idea. This my first time to renew. Done all that during registration initially.

Well thanks for the heads up sir.

Used to think I’ll need only fingerprints but being clarified. I’ll just wait till it expires and apply for emergency travel one and renew in Naija.

Passport for 5 years I think is cheaper than emergency travel certificate in the UK , so once the embassy is fully running then passport probably better to target

Beating a child doesn’t solve the solution all it’s doing is just encouraging violence.

Yeah, the work experience is all that would matter most. They can intern the COO of a small company or do those graduate schemes. It will be a good stepping stone.

I was hoping you will say that. A lot of Nigerian adults say that also.

But look around you, look at the country, why do men beat their wives and people think it’s alright, violence is seen as the norm. A lot of parents damaged their kids all in the name of discipline. Most of the adults in Nigeria today have been damaged by their parents and the saddest thing is that they do not know it. They carry on that same mentality to bring up their kids and the circle continues undecided undecided undecided

Discipline is good but shouldn't be excessive.

I remember stealing money to buy a whole box of sweets at age 7 , it was the beatings that re structured my thinking grin, otherwise I wouldn't i have known it was bad, plus I could have turned it into a habit if it wasn't for the help of the quick correction.

That’s exactly what I am talking about it’s not okay to hit , A lot of Nigerian kids are so timid and they end up not able to look people in the eye. it’s child abuse. Now you think that beating is okay. All I’m saying is that if you bring up your children here the way Nigerian parents do you will end up causing everlasting damage. There are many ways to discipline a kid that doesn’t involve beating.
Kids are very curious and they ask a lot of questions, sit down and talk to them instead of giving them the brush off.

Thanks for your response. The person has some experience(10yrs) as a director in his father's company in Nigeria. Can this be considered as well and what can be done from Nigeria to give the person an edge in the UK labour market.

Agreed but there's a dark side to it. Some kids don't change until you discipline them in the traditional way.

What should we say about those kids running rampage in the UK stabbing each other? , mostly brought up in a westernised way and still ended up violent.

I’ve been watching a lot of Dr. Gabor Mate lectures on YouTube.
He once said and I quote “the best and most effective way to discipline your child is make them your disciples”
That’s stuck with me.
