From what you've posted, your problem is very very solvable. You're 19, very very young!

Being an introvert doesn't stop you from making friends, at least I have some

Trying to join a rough school because you want to be street smart is not the way either, you might end up being a cultist and regretting your actions later

Look man, I'm introvert but whenever I get out of my parents house, man I shine my eyes, don't let no man talk down on you. If you are from Imo state, you should know that mbaise road Douglas is a rough place, they normally take people's phone there, but lanky and skinny stood with about five guys who tried taking my phone, even when people are passing by, but I stood my ground. Bro learn to stand your ground.

It's not too late to start going to market on your own, you just gat to be wise especially bargaining price, that's the market itself..

On thing I hate in life is labels. I'm an introvert, extrovert, ambivert, melancholic and all those bulllshits. Do you know why, because it limits you. It's makes it easier for you to not do so many things. It a way of providing ready made excuses.

So stop with the label, you are who you are. Do away with those labels!

You are young but at 19 there so many things you should be doing yourself. You should be able to go to the barbers shop yourself, I see nothing wrong with following your mother to the market to get you somethings but it shouldn't be everytime.

You just have to accept that you have low self esteem, hold on, it's not the end of the world.
Now you need to work on that. The easiest way to do that is to get out of your head. Move out from your room occasionally, gist with your family members and use them to learn social skills. You don't have close pals right, start making friends with your siblings friends, it's a easy way to start and make it an assignment to work around everyday.

Yeah! Dress up and just walk around, it's good for your health and confidence.

Also, join a group. Maybe chess club, dance club, choir or the usher if you're a Christian. Learn a musical instrument. Be very good at something. Have a football club and follow them, go out to watch them in ball house.

Whenever your family members call you mumu, tell them firmly that you are not a mumu and they should stop calling you that.

Try to make friends too and be nice to people. Greet strangers and complement them. If you see a fine girl or boy, tell them they are good looking. If you see something or someone you like, say it. They'll love it.

There so many books on how to make friends and build your confidence, download, read and put to action.

I think I know of 'how to make friends and influence people'.

Try to be carefree and happy, you are too young to unhappy for no reason at all.

I don't know why people find it so hard to understand me. I don't why people find it so hard to understand that I love being b myself, wallowing in my loneliness more than I love hanging out with friends. M family keeps insulting me, calling that I'm a "mumu" and not "wise". I've been told that since I was a kid, before I could form a defence around my mind, before I could protect myself. Do you know what it feels like to be told you're useless, a mumu, not sharp, almost everyday of your life? Nobody in my family believes in me; they all believe I'm an idiot.
I grew up as a very shy kid. Extremely shy in some certain situations. It's like I was born that way. According to some researches I've carried out; mine seems genetic. My dad's was that way, so I guess the 'dirty' genes were transferred to me. Everyone keeps insulting me, but they don't really understand what I go through. They don't understand that I don't consciously choose to be shy, it's like I'm not in control of it. It happens automatically, but no one understands.
I grew up in a 'broken' home. My father left since I was five. So, they're some things I never really learnt from my father what a man should learn. I'm constantly being insulted all because I don't know how to fix electronics. I'm being told that it's the responsibility of a man to be able to fix anything that get spoilt at home. I mean, is it my fault I can't fix the damn thing? I know these are things boys learn from their fathers, but since I never had one; how am I supposed to know how to do that? Even when I make attempt to try, I'm constantly being berated. I've been insulted to the point where I don't even bother trying anything again.

Well, my main issue is this: due to my 'solitary' nature, having virtually no friends(I do have some though, but don't hangout with them), there are some things I'm lacking in. I grew up most of my life indoors, where almost everything was done for me. They cooked, washed, took me to the market to buy clothes for me. I mean, which boy at 19 years old still follows his mother to the market to buy clothes? My sister's even insist on takin me to the barber to barb my hair. Damn I feel so ashamed of myself. I feel like these are things I ought to know how to do by now. Though I'm learning sha.

My main problems are:
1) I hate the way I'm being told I'm not smart or wise. Yeah, I get that I might not be " street" smart because I was raised like an ajebutter even though I'm not. I hate my family for calling me that. As much as I try to deny it's not affecting me; it is!

2)I hate the way I was raised. Maybe I should have hung out more with the street kids. Maybe I would've been street smart. Maybe I wouldn't still be taken to the market to buy clothes. Just maybe

I know people might not understand what I wrote up there, but anyone who do, please just help me.

My only hope of making myself better is when I leave for University. When I get exposed to the real world, when I leave my comfort zone and I'm choosing a very rough school. I must develop by force.

One other thing I'd suggest is learn from people that are confident and borrow one or two things from them.

Take for example, confident people always look in your eyes during conversations, so next time you are talking to someone, look up and look into their eyeballs. Look away from time to time in other not to come off as wired.


Have trending haircut. You are a teenager it is expected that you exhibit youthful exuberance.

Buy trending wears too (if you have money).
Don't dress like pastors, unless you want to be one.
