#Logik #DeepThinking In this age and time, we should be reviewing and filtering these traditions, especially the ones that has subjected us to perpetual sufferings and pain. Do not forget that these traditions were formulated by ancestors who at the time could barely read nor write... their level of ignorance as we may notice is beyond shocking if you juxtapose our current reality now with these primitive traditions we still practice, centuries after their demise. Do not forget that these traditions were passed by traditionalist who worshiped craven images in the form of deities. Most of you reading this piece, over the age of 28 will agree with me that your grandfather's ain't christians and that most of your grandfather's has got chief priests or native doctors as friends. What do I mean? These traditions that u abide by are not scriptural and are in direct contrasts to what your religion permits. It is wrong for a Muslim or a christian to live by laws made by a traditionalist. Africa wake up !!! |

You need to understand that there is tradition and their is religion, traditions ends up being religious rites and also religious rites becomes tradition. Africa before colonization were practising their various traditional religion, the rites from the religion was also part of their tradition. Then came colonization and the muslim slave trade which converted many Africans into christianity and islam. Colonization and muslim slave trade forced Africans to become Christian or muslim, Africans wanted to please their masters by agreeing to become Christians or muslims but the Africans didn't forget or leave their religious traditions. If you read some Christian missionaries books, the writers were amazed that some Christian converts were still practicing their traditional religion at night. The missionaries were angry and admitted that converting Africans to their religion was a fruitless excercise, they infact gave up. The reality is this, you can force a man to convert to any religion but you can't remove his tradition from him. |

thebosstrevor1:This is 21st century... a child born today knows nothing about how it started... the child grows up as a christian or a Muslim, yet is being introduced to some wack tradition. The worlds reality as at now coupled with the daily upgrade in civilisation should warrant persons to allow their religion guide them by their own choice. Not some primitive culture imported from the past into the future. |

Traditional laws should be erased because they were enacted decades ago according to the level of life then. Humans should enact laws to suit the present day living without a glimpse of religion in it because laws from religion end up being worst than the tradition. Human relations and interactions should be based on humanity just human and not weather you are a moslem or Christian. Religion should be a very personal and private affair. Religion has not helped us as a collective entity let's embrace humanity and see how far we go. Let us just be human Just human 1 Like |

BadRadio: Religion is everything, tradition is everything. A man without religion or tradition does not know where he stands and also does not have value. African tradition is not primitive but conservative. Stop looking down on something you don't understand. |

goodmorning40: You are ignorant. All law and civility starts from religion and tradition. You can not erase traditional laws because they are the foundation of every law. The Christians got their law from the bible The muslims from the koran African traditional religion from their corpus |

thebosstrevor1:what's conservative about spending millions burying a useless corpse, when one can just open the earth and put the stinking cadaver... every one goes home. This is prevalent with those folks in eastern Nigeria |

BadRadio: Why can't you seperate the person spending millions on a burial and his religion. Many do that for show off and it has nothing to do with religion. |

Any flaws you find in Traditional religion can be found multifold in Christianity or Islam. While I agree that some aspects of our traditional religion should be done away with, I don't agree with discarding it entirely. We should be thinking about how to merge our traditional religion with modernisation like many other countries have done. |

BadRadio: And also it has nothing to do with tradition. Christian rite Is Christ tradition. If a Christian spend extravagantly, are we going to blame Christian tradition or the person for spending lavishly |
