IPTV is really giving DSTV run of their life, The truth is that the world has gone digital , even if DSTV slash to 2k naira on premium package it cannot be compare to numerous entertaining channel on an Internet Protocol Cable TV.

Go buy yourselves a Xiaomi android TV box. Then download wss app. Connect the Hdm1 cable from your Android box to your flat screen, and you good to go. Look for a very good network internet provider like "may be" airtel (I no Dey naija sha..)

I love wss like die. It gives you options on picture quality on the channels. Just a simple click will do. Nice portable smart app.

I followed this thread from page 1, yet no one explain in concise terms what an IPTV is and how it works across all TVs and devices. Here I will explain to the best of my ability.

IPTV is not an app. Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) refers to applications that enable you watch contents streamed from the internet. Examples of IPTV apps are Netflix, Showmax, Mobdro TV, etc.

To switch to IPTV, you will need a Smart TV or an Android box; a device like decoder that can be connected to your non-smart tv. It has memory like phones and it works like an Android phone. You can download and install apps from Google play store in it.

There are tons of free and paid IPTV apps. You can download and install many of the FREE ones on android box unlike on Non-android Smart TV like Samsung appstore for Samsung Smart TVs.

Is it cheaper?
Cheap here is relative. I will use myself as an example. I have a Samsung smart tv, Spectranet router modem, netflix account and DSTV decoder. I do the family or Yanga plan depending on the month. I use Spectranet because it is fast in my area. I subscribe to the 10.2k plan monthly. I do Netflix some months and only watch between the hour of 1am to 8am because Spectranet data cap is unlimited between those hours. Cobranet, IPNX and co don't have coverage in my area so I can't do any fibre optic data subscription.

DSTV is cheaper for me and IPTV will cost way more to me if I were to switch. But for someone whose location has good fibre optic coverage and who's doing DSTV premium, switching to IPTV on android box or Android Smart TV and subscribing to a fibre optic plan below 15k will be cheaper.

Data is the new thing. Just find which network is fast and suitable in your location, and you will say good bye to DSTV.

I have not used DSTV in 16 month. I wish I can sell my DSTV Explorer. It is just occupying space. The only thing you can do with dstv is watch their mostly outdated TV shows.

My FibreOne Unlimited Internet subscription is just NGN 10,800. I use between 400gig and 700gig of data per month. It is data buffet.

Just buy 1 terabyte for 100k annually, that will give u more than 80 gig if u devide it by 12,simply means u are getting 80gig for 8300 naira, its available on mtn, airtel and glo, then get urself a smart TV or android box, simple

Just picture a free live TV on the internet which can connect you with all the continents in the world, If you have a smart TV which is connected to the internet , You will have to download the APP and stream live matches, TV shows, Comedy etc , across the world and if you don't have Smart TV, You can purchase IPTV box, it runs on android , So you can download more APP if you want .

It's optional. But the operating system of most smart TV might limit what you can do. Just like Apple store may not allow you to download some Apps esp. from third party platforms.

If your smart TV is already Android based, you really don't need an Android TV box. However bear in mind that pre-installed Android in most TV consumes so much data, and the user interface and experience is very poor.

With my experience with TV box, it's so smooth that I even bought a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard and turn the f**king TV to my personal computer.

It's like the pandora box of entertainment just opened up in my life...from Netflix, to YouTube, to Mubdro IPTV Channels, to any streaming websites to and Apps you can think off....the choice is unlimited.

And since DSTV stop playing foreign cool hip-hop jamz and blues, this just fit my life so perfectly because I hate the nonsense most Nigerian musicians are singing. If I want to watch Davido, I simply type in Davido and watch all his songs.., Likewise if I want R.Kelly or Michael Jackson....I just enter their names and and have it.

Basically, with TV box, via data...you own and choose what you want to watch. To me, this is really "consumer is the king" system.

The good thing is, if you miss a program, you can search for it and watch it at your own time. DSTV may never show you again a program once you missed it.

Wow, that's beautiful, I hardly watch tv during the day reason why I prefer tstv. Good sound and picture quality. No issue like going off and on since November I got one till date.

With less than 400 mb, I watch full match directly from the internet. All you need is good ntwk. I stream live matches from hesgoal, epicsport, Burma TV, live football TV etc. You'll watch 3 matches with 1 gig
