IS ALCOHOL PROHIBITED IN CHRISTIANITY?
..
Some people would always come to the defence of Hisbah’s destruction of millions of Alcoholic Beverages by asking the question: “Is Alcohol NOT Prohibited In Christianity?”
And such people would always end their taunting questions by adding: “Go and STUDY your Bible”...
..

My Answer to such question is very simple....

Alcohol is NOT Prohibited in Christianity.
1st Timothy 5:23
and Ecclesiastes 9:7..

..
What is prohibited in Christianity is:
“Getting Drunk”
..
For someone to get drunk, he had to take excess alcohol way beyond his brain-carrying capacity.
..
And this brings us back to the Bible again, where the Bible condemned Honey in a way.
Something that is as good as Honey, the Bible warns us not to take it too much.
Proverbs 25:16.
..
What Christianity is preaching is That: “Too Much of Everything Is Bad.”

..
Too Much of Food Is Bad.
Too Much of Water Is Bad.
Too Much of Salt Is Bad.
Too Much of Sugar Is Bad.
Too Much of Religion Is Bad.
Too Much of Spirituality Is Bad.

For those people that would come here to say that the Bible was referring to Non-Alcoholic Wine.

..
..
The Jews that lived during the time of Jesus knew only how to produce the Natural Wine with Vine Grapes, which is a Naturally Occurring Alcoholic Fluid..
If Jesus Drank Grape-Juice which was made from the Vine Grapes, it would be stated as Grape-Juice in the Bible. (But Grape-Juice is very difficult to get and stored in its Non-Alcoholic form using natural processes, just the way it is very difficult to get and store Cashew-Juice or Soursop-Juice from natural processes.)
The production of Non-Alcoholic Wine from Vine Grapes is a more complicated process (and is done with some technologies that was invented during the medieval times).

(Even the so-called Non-Alcoholic Wine, once it is uncorked, begins to turn alcoholic after some hours - then, imagine the Jews who never had the technology produce the Non-Alcoholic wine in the first place, not to talk of having the technological means of preserving it).
..
Simply Put.....
During the time of Jesus, they drank the natural wine from Vine Grapes which is a naturally occurring Alcoholic wine.
If the wine was not Alcoholic, then the Pharisees wouldn't have complained about it.

cool

Sharia Law doesn't cover non Muslim, however State laws on ban or regulation of alcohol is binding to all residents as long as 2/3 of the state legislature passed it and the Governor signed it

Like in Saudi Arabia, Alcohol is sold at places and camps were Oil workers and Foriegn expatriates stays,

In UAE Ajman industrial has one of the biggest Liquor shop I have ever seen, everything is there from RedOx to Hennessy

First Question: Why would the Hisbah Police be the ones destroying Alcoholic drinks of Non-Muslims, instead of the State Police or the Nigerian Police, since it was supposed to be a State Law??

Second Question: Was there actually a State Law in Kano State of Nigeria, which banned or regulated the use of Alcohol?

First Answer; arrest of criminals can be done by anybody for crimes committed (state police, local police , agency etc) however only constitutionally approved agency of Government can prosecute such crime in court

For example LASMA a Lagos state agency like Hisbah Kano State agency can arrest and impound your car for traffic violation just as Hisbah seizes Alcohol in Kano

Second Answer; yes Prohibition of Alcohol, and establishment of Hisbah is a Law and ACT passed by Kano State Legislature and State Government, and it is Gazzeted as Kano law bidding to all residents

(@1st-bolded-statement) Lagos State LASTMA arrests or impound vehicles and hand over to the State Government. Kano State Hisbah Seizes Alcohol and destroys them straightaway...
Were they given such express authorities by the Kano State Laws?

(@2nd-bolded-statement) I understand it better now.
At least, it is very clear to me now that Alcoholic drinks were destroyed in Kano State because of a Kano State Law which is supposed to be binding on all citizens and residents, and not because of Sharia Law which is meant only for Muslims.

Thanks for the enlightenment.!!

Even though we are a secular state, you will discover that most of the Laws have strong religious undertones - especially all these laws we call “State Laws”..

This does not invalidate the fact that Nigeria was created as a secular state, not for both religion to govern it by their laws.

There are traditional worshippers which is the oldest set of religious belief in this country and they drink alcohol

Yes too much of everything is bad but you shouldn't be the one to force another man the extent to drink in his body

Too Much of Intervention Is Bad.
Too Much of Intrusion Is Bad.
Too Much of Minding Your Business Is Bad.
Too Much of Everything is bad..
..
In the meantime, I need some replies to these five situations.
..
1. (Sincerity)
If you were in your brother’s house, and he happened to step out to get something from his neighbour's house and coincidentally, kidnappers came to the house looking for him with their daggers shinning, (and they came for him and nobody else), since you know where your brother was at that very moment, what will you tell the kidnappers?
..
2a. (Humility)
If you were given ₦300,000 as an advance payment for a job of ₦1,000,000 so that you can mobilise yourself and start the job; and after you did the job halfway, you were given another ₦200,000; then after you finished the job, you were balanced only ₦200,000; instead of ₦500,000 which was remaining. You asked them why they did that, and they said that they are not owing you anything, and that if you don't like what they balanced you, then you can do your worst. What will you do in this situation?
..
2b. (Humility)
If someone who is old enough to be your son got newly posted to your desk, and he is also some ranks below you in your office, but he is related to your immediate boss (not related to the overall boss though), and for the fact that if you do anything bad to the new officer your boss would also get offended, you now transferred part of the respect you have for your boss to the new junior younger officer. But the new officer has an attitude problem, and as time went on, things had turned bad between you and him, and he talks to you anyhow and even threatens you sometimes that if you do anything to him, his uncle will hear about it. What will you do in this situation?
..
3. (Kindness)
If you see someone who needed help, and you looked at yourself and discovered that you don't have the resources to help the person, but since you have judged that the person needed the help, you really wanted to help him. So you went and borrowed some resources in order to render the help. But just at the moment you wanted to render the help, you discovered that the whole thing is a scam, but then, you have already gone very far with the whole process of initiating the help. If you stop the process, both you and the person will loose. If you complete the process, the person will gain from the help and then disappear, and you will still have to pay back the resources you earlier borrowed. What will you do in this situation?
..
4. (Prayers)
If it happened that highway robbers tried to stop a bus that you were travelling with and the driver headed into the bush in order to avoid them; and somewhere inside the bush he stopped and opened the bus and told the passengers to run for safety. Then coincidentally, it happened that the time when everybody were running around to find safety was also the exact time for prayers. The running happened for up to Five-Solid-Hours. What will you do in such a situation since the exact time of prayers had passed??

That means Kano is an Islamic state.... good for them.

When Wike said Rivers is a Christian state these same northern hypocrites cried out and protested that statement.

I only blame Southern Governments who are scared of making and enforcing laws that reflects thier religion and culture.

in Timothy it was Paul speaking but in Leviticus 10:9 God says through Moses, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

Numbers 6:3
3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
Deuteronomy 14:26
26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
Deuteronomy 29:6
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.
Judges 13:4, 7, 14
4 - Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: 7 - But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. 14 - She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.
1 Samuel 1:15
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Proverbs 31:4
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
Proverbs 31:6
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
Isaiah 5:11, 22
11 - Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! 22 - Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
Isaiah 24:9
9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
Isaiah 28:7
7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
Isaiah 29:9
9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
Isaiah 56:12
12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

So, if you live near a Church in Enugu State, and they made laws inside the church to govern their members, you that is not a member of the church should also obey the laws just because you live near the church, and happened to hear their laws through their public-address-systems??

BluntCrazeMan just one question, can you stand at the centre of a busy express road?
The center of every express-road is called Median Strip.
So, to answer your question..
My answer is YESS..
I can stand at the Median Strip of a very busy express-road.
In fact, I can even lie down there.
..
..
But then, don't tell me that you're referring to Sharia Law as “A Busy Express-Road..”
That's really ridiculous.!!
