thebosstrevor1:Maybe you lack insight about government generally. Governments are formed to manage what every share in common. It is stupid idea to start forming mob like groups under the guise of religion to come back and influence the govt that permitted that religion in the first place. |

The same speed that the 12 northern sharia states governments used to adopt sharia criminal laws must be the same speed for the non-sharia states to use to adopt laws banning open grazing of cows in their states.

IamWonderful:You people talk rubbish in order to propagate your personal doctrine. What do you mean by unfermented juice? Do you even understand what fermentation means? The minute you squeeze juice out of its fruit, it starts fermenting. My wife who has very little alcohol tolerance has gotten tipsy on zobo she made and left in the fridge for 2 days. How did ancient Jews during the time of Jesus and even after unferment grape juice? |

The Nigerian constitution itself states that government must not adopt any religion as state religion. Even the penal codes exempts non- Muslims from being subjected to sharia penal codes. But well, in Nigeria, anything goes- the laws are made by the rich for the poor alone to obey. |

Jerryherd:Is it right for states to make laws governing everyone in a state based on a specific religion instead of based on the Constitution in a secular country? Saudi Arabia you quoted is an Islamic nation, their Constitution is based on Islamic tenets so it is understandable if they make their laws governing everyone in their country based on Islamic rules irrespective of any other religion any other person living there believes in, anyone going to Saudi Arabia already knows clearly that he or she is going to an Islamic country governed by Islamic rules, so they get prepared for that, now the question is, is Nigeria an Islamic nation? It is common sense that a house of assembly with Muslims as majority will always have their way in voting for any issue that benefits Muslims, but that does not mean everyone in the state are Muslims and should be forced to live like Muslims in a secular country with freedom of religion and association boldly enshrined in the Constitution which is a superior document to the state house of assembly by-laws. State house of assembly by-laws should never go contrary to the supreme document governing the country which is the Constitution. The Nigerian constitution itself states that government must not adopt any religion as state religion. Even the penal codes exempts non- Muslims from being subjected to sharia penal codes. If the state house of assembly decides to make Islamic by-laws, then it should be clearly made for only adherents of Islamic laws which are the Muslims because Nigeria is a secular country and not an Islamic country. Imagine if states down south with Christian majorities begin to enact Christian doctrines and laws into the state by-laws and force everyone irrespective of their religion to abide by it, don't you think that will throw this country into a civil crises situation ? |

jswitch:It because of the arrogance of the Fulanis, they feel they own the whole country and can go to other people's lands and behave anyhow they like in the name of one Nigeria, but control and restrict others that come to their lands. Sharia law was supposed to be on the same level as customary law. It should only apply to people that subscribe to that custom or Religion. It should only cover civil matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, etc. But it is veering into criminal matters. The annoying aspect is that they are only obsessed with sales and consumption of alcohol, probably because most people that sell alcohol are southerners. They are not interested in the selling of drugs such as Marijuana, codeine, tramadol, etc which are mainly sold and consumed by northerners themselves, and is a far bigger problem than alcohol. Anyway, as a niger-deltan, I will not advice my people to go anywhere near the north outside Abuja. |

The Sharia law is an Islamic law practiced in an Islamic country e. g Saudi Arabia but because of greed finds it was to Nigeria (a secular country), and to the north because of illiteracy ( and yet adopted) to be used by on all citizens living under the territory . What a shame that religious stupidity have finds its way to the medulla oblongata of our citizens. I weep |
