If you devalue, you suffer (maybe), if you don't devalue you suffer more because manufacturers struggle to get FX at this overvalued rate and foreign investors cannot come in when the currency is overvalued. It increases their risk of having to leave with a devalued currency.

I agree bt we can only devalue when the economy is moving in the right tragetory or else the suffering will be long and greater.

The solution is to fix the economy to a stable position with other alternatives and ideas. There are many bt the government lazy and clueless.

They have no choice they will still want to borrow from IMF again and they won't get shi shi if they don't devalue naira. We are still been colonized bro. That's the fact. By devaluing naira again, there's no hope nigeria is going to be able to pay back all those money. Trust Nigerians we will start spending dollars in this country.

You are defending instead of advising that most under performed governor in Lagos history to halt the re-opening of the toll gate until justice is done.

Do you know long CBN has been fighting to keep the naira from devaluing. If not for CBNs effort (by proping the naira in the forex market) to keep the naira from going down, it should have been 1000-2000 to a dollar by now.

That's why they borrowed from China. IMF are not the only ones that lend money.

The naira is already devalued. Nobody gets dollar or any other foreign currency at the official exchange rate. These has resulted in multiple parallel rates which isn't good for the country's monetary policy.
What CBN needs to do is to unify all exchange rates in the country n this can only happen if they allow the naira to be officially devalued.
Other measures pursued by CBN such as restricting remittance from overseas, banning Bitcoin or restricting imports are futile effort that will only expand the demand for parallel market.
Nobody will exchange his dollar for 360 naira, when there's an alternative for 500. If it means travelling to cotonou to change it....people will do it.
CBN is the one that should get it's monetary policy right.
But u are right on one thing...IMF has no good intention for Africa.

This is what happens when a government borrows from IMF and World Bank, our leaders are the real cause of this, if they had learned how to mange our resources prudently, there won't have been any need of borrowing from this bodies who only sick to cripple and enslave other countries Economy, so they can remain strongest Economy while other remain debtors.
