For those of us applying for study visa, can we fix a date this week to gather at the embassy so they can know how grave our situation is

Hello, did you apply for a study Visa also? I submitted since the 4th of January and I have not even received a text or email concerning the status of the visa. My school is to resume by the end of February and I have been unable to carry on with my registration activities.

Why will you do such a thing guys? You will likely be showing them how desperate you are! And, this may affect their decision on your visa application!!!

Hello everyone. I want to know if there are other people facing this challenge.
I applied for an SA study Visa on 4th of January, submitted my application in VFS lekki and since then I have not received a text message or email regarding the status of my visa. My school is resuming this February and my passport has been with the SA high commission for over a month. What would I need to do know to expedite this process?

. Contact the embassy. However, study visa applications take 4weeks to 8 weeks or more. More importantly , be in contact with your university.

Hello everyone,
please, can birth certificate be used to proof the relationship between I and my sponsor(my sister) for visit visa and what documents need to be authenticated?
Please, can someone help me with the needed information?
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Blurpy: 7:49am On Feb 10, 2021
Birth certificate is not needed in adult application. You need bank statement and letter of invitation if she's based there.

It is so sad that I was banned from posting for no obvious reasons. Even after the expiration of the ban, my posts were still being deleted followed with another ban!

This is really ridiculous. What's Nairaland turning into? I guess it's time to activate guest mode.

So, let me just respond to all my mentions here once and for all:

mikael11:

Was there any 14 days quarantine you did?
Because I'm working on my honeymoon in March 29th after wedding 27th. If I apply next week Tuesday how long do you think I will get reply because I need this information quickly so that I can work on alternatives like Mauritius.
Thank you for your kind reply

I was told since my covid test was negative, I didn't have to observe quarantine period.
My application took exactly two weeks while my wife's took 2 months and three days.
Probably her application took that long because of the sudden rise in covid in December.
But now that the infection rate is going down and/or they now have some vaccines, I think application should not take that long.
I can't really give a definite answer as to how long your application will take but the earlier you submit the better.

I would like to suggest that you should back up every claim with relevant documents. That may help to facilitate decision on you application.

If you are married and you wish to take your spouse and/or children along, you may have to get your marriage and birth certificates certified at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first time I went for submission, I was turned back! I had to go to Abuja to get them certified before I could submit.

Bros, how we go know now?

It's quite common these days. Especially that una bot just dey ban people when he no like their moniker or names. I've been banned for posts and comments in the past weeks that were not against any nairaland, moral or ethical rules.

I think the bot needs to be reviewed really.

NB: I still got a funny ban this week for what I don't know and I have a thread that was block for "God knows what' reason.

Hi, just be patient!

is it a study visa or what? Study visa applicants should be patient a little bit... because even sa citizens here are also facing challenges due to changes in semester and new laws only to accept new 20k students from metric or so... Due to covid things might be hard...but don't lose hope with God all things are possible.

My big sister applied for visit last year December 12th or so before they went for holiday. We just got a reply today and it was declined due to insufficient funds (personal account). I stated in the letter that i would be taking care of everything financially and also another reason for rejections is because documents lack credibility. She had 1m and got salary payment Monthly with #150k. Apart from that we started we would take care of everything in the invitation letter and sponsorship.

For the document's credibility I did  DHL all documents and nothing was fake.

For a visitor visa I went the extra mile to add more documents such as a marriage certificate, our Id's, letters of invitation, sponsorship and property rates and tax. Our last names were all the same.

I got citizenship and my wife also and we added both bank accounts and that of my wife were added also. I don't understand...

I will be calling the embassy tomorrow to ask questions just googly to see if laws have changed also...

Please does anyone have any idea what is needed? don't they regard sponsorship anymore? must a visitor to SA earn and have over a millions before they can be approved to visit their family? even if you have someone sponsoring you financially?

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by justt: 10:16am On Feb 11, 2021
Sorry about the rejection.
Sometimes, visa officers could be torn in the flesh and may be unpredictable!
I strongly believe the rejection is not due to financial reasons (your sister's account) but with documentations.
If you are the one inviting and had indicated full responsibility for her welfare, her account details is just an addition.

I also guess document coming from SA are expected to be certified by the Police, did you get them certified?
Too much documentations may also be a problem. I guess adding your wife's account may be wrong.
You shouldn't spend all you have to take care of a visitor.

@ justt,

I did certified all documents and we never got any calls from them to confirm the invitation letter or anything & I also stated it in the letter that I would take all responsibility financially and she would be staying with us.

At first when i mailed those documents to her i did not include a marriage certificate and flight.

It was not my intention to add those extra they requested for it on the day she wanted to submit that without it she must sign a letter that when her visa declined they would not be held responsible. On the day of submission she called that they refused to accept all the documents they wanted for a marriage certificate and i asked why this is just a visit? said since i am a Nigerian they don't care about my status here in SA that she must use my wife since she's originally from SA. She's a SA born Zim  so they would be needing our marriage certificate and my sis made arrangement there with a law firm...

I don't want to use agents because they might put something bad down due to long time experience.

@Justt, try check some government approved covid 19 test centers on NCDC website. My husband paid 50,400 for his test @Afriglobal but his friend had his own at a government center( Federal Medical Center, Owo....this center is for people in Ondo State) for just 10k. The service is even better.than Afriglobal's...result is sent to one's mail within 24hrs without any delay.
