Why Is It Always Hard For Successful People To Help Other Grow? by Humbleguy92: 6:04pm On Feb 15, 2021
Good evening guys, I really don't know if here is the right place to post this but i will post it here nonetheless.

Am writing this base on my experience (which I know others have had same experience before) and thanks of iLegendd for giving me the zeal to write this even doh he don't know me because I hardly comment on his post but I always read and observe.

So what am I even talking about?
Yesterday which was valentine day, iLegendd decided to do something unique by giving 12USDT to a lucky girl, he did not just give it to her as cash but ask her to download binance, after which he transferred it to her. The surprising thing is that, he did not just give this lucky girl the 12USDT and say okay bye, you can do whatever you like with it (which most people will just convert to naira and withdraw to their bank account), rather he decided to help this lucky girl trade with the money to get more cash ( this is a girl that has no knowledge of how binance works before or how to trade crypto currency).
He even made it public here so others can learn and within few hours this girl made an extra 3USDT profit making it 15USDT by following the simple step he gave her.

Now why exactly am I making reference to this?
This is someone that does not even know the girl and instead of giving her the money, he decided to teach her how to use the money to make more money.

Now most people might find this write up annoying or meaningless but this is what most people lack in this country,
You go to someone to help you or teach you what he or she does because you are broke and they are doing well for themselves (be it your friend or not). When they finally decided to help you, they will tell you to go look for capital and come, knowing fully well you are broke before coming to them.
Now my question is, if you are doing very well in what you do and you know with your mentorship, the person you want to help will succeed, why can't you just borrow the person a little capital and make sure he follows your way to earn, after which you can get your money back and he continues with the profit he made from it. It's not so hard

Some will tell u, I paid a lot of money when I wanted to learn so u must pay,
Since u had the money to pay and others don't, does that stop you from helping them?

Well am just saying this bcus of how impressed I was by what iLegendd did yesterday, doh I am not the said lady but I was so happy for her and wish I can find someone that can do that for me.
Ever since I graduated and no job, have asked my friends to teach me online stuffs like this binance crypto trading, forex and so, they did teach me but never borrowed me the capital to start and I wonder why they all behave like that and none could give me a reasonable answer.

Well have decided to keep searching for job and also wait till I get capital to start so as to remove myself from being broke.

I just want to use this medium to say, there is nothing wrong in helping someone fully by giving out little capital to those you genuinely know they don't have capital and help them grow because in helping that one person, you have just reduce the number of unemployment in this country by 1 and it keeps going that way up.

Once again much respect to iLegendd and please keep up the good work.

iLegend is really a great guy, don't expect to find a lot of people like him. I'm actually just reading about what he did which is both giving a person fish and then teaching them how to fish. Bro,I think your friends may not want to give you any capital because they think you might lose it considering that about 80% of beginner traders lose all their money undecided

It is okay to want to express appreciation to someone for a perceived gesture/favour shown.

First, @the bold, Nigerians rarely volunteer to learn from others. Most Nigerians prefer, even insist on, cash handouts. In fact, several times that I have personally tried to give some people insights freely on how to create wealth within my area of competence I was always presented with a million reasons while those individuals only need the cash for now, and never the skill of how to create wealth for life.

Don't ask people for something you don't do... How many people have you trained freely, that you then hand money to for the purpose of building the business? And no, it is not a function of being rich or being poor; everyone has something to give.

Favours and generosities are freely given; you asking individuals who have taken then pain to train you, asking them to again give you money to start is a display of entitlement mentality. No one owes the other anyone and you cannot tell people how and when to dole out favours to you. You can say that to you parents though, but not to others. Neither is it anyone's job to mentor the other. What matters in all is building good relationship with those you want to mentor you first. Don't go about expecting people to train you freely, and after that also give you money to start the business/investment.

the fact that your friends even taught you is a plus to them,if you had passion for what you were thought then that drive will spur you into looking for the capital yourself but you you want them to do everything for you lol. And if you no sure why they dont add the capital for you why not ask this your said friends?because as for me I think they just tryna find out if you serious or not.

Nice but you still speak like the people I talked about, like I said why not help those you know they actually don't have money? Some people can easily get money from anywhere but there are some that has no one to ask for money except friends, the fact that you can easily get money from anywhere does not means other can too.
You make it sound like it's easy to get money from anyone or anywhere as long as you have the passion to learn. Well if that is the case, why do we have brilliant people that have the passion to learn and want to go to skull but have no capital?
Well no body expect you to do everything but if you have the funds, why not borrow it out, follow up with the person and get it back when the person generate interest from it.

As for the reasons you asked for, it's all the same reason of I paid money for it or no one though me for free, they will even say am just doing this one bcus you are my friend so go find the capital and come back for the rest when they know you don't have and that's why I said their reasons are not reasonable enough

Last last he go better

Actually it's not all trade, some are other legit risk free Business and for loosing the capital, that's why I said they should follow up with the person to make sure he does not loose the capital like what boss iLegendd is doing as long as the person is willing to learn.
Tell me if they ask you to do exactly what iLegendd did with that girl and you so same, how will you loose the capital?

As for boss iLegendd, he is really a Great guy and I hope to meet him one day

Thanks for the write up, it really made a lot of sense and a lot of good point made too.

Well I know we humans can be funny sometimes and that's why I appreciated what iLegendd did by not giving the girl the money in cash, rather he transferred it into her binance account (which I know she don't even know how to withdraw it sef), and then teach her how to make more, also in the process monitor what she does with it.

That's the kind of help am talking about

The fact that you have a poor mentality does not mean you should show it off anywhere you go.
Stop beefing someone that does not even know you and even if he do market his stuffs on nairaland, what's your business? Does that stop you from hustling.

I can never be friends with your type of person, You reek of self entitlement. People especially Nigerians never appreciate free things, you actually had friends that taught you & still expected capital from them? In this generation of connects & information hoarding. More like helping you find a wife and arranging the wedding ceremony also, & most of the time we know the results, your type will eventually bite the hands that fed you. Unserious fellow.

the reason I'm able to understand your said freind better is because I've also helped people for free b4 but naturally humans dont really value free things, the ones I taught na me still dey disturb them kinda(like I'm forcing them lol) when I've seen the same attitude from few friends I've decided of put a price on what ever I'm gonna teach you so youd value it more.
free resources no dey get value for our eyes na the ones wey get price tag we dey value, you talking about brilliant graduate isnt an excuse,if you really get passion 4 something omoo you go enter any where just to find the capital to expand your knowledge and make your work better and also secure more profits.

This is an entitlement mentality taken too far. The truth is, some people don't know what to expect from family members and what to expect from strangers in the name of friends.

That's how I attended my secondary school class meeting with my car last December only for one of my classmates to chat me up on Facebook to collect my number.

He connected with me on WhatsApp and started asking me to teach him what I do for a living. I simply told him that what I do is not what I can easily teach someone because it took me several years to acquire the skills.

The next thing, the guy asked if he could come and be living with me. I mean, how do you process such request. This guy currently stays at Onitsha while I live in Lagos. So, he expects me to bring him to my house, feed and take care of all his bills and then help him to look for something to do with his life.

I did not get it this easy from anybody. People want to be spoon fed. There are lots of resources online that you can learn from. Binance just held a Webinar last Friday to teach people how to trade on P2P. With that training, I just bought my first USDT worth 100k and it's currently sitting on my account pending when I see a better trade to enter.

Instead of people to task and inconvenience themselves to go out to seek for information, they are sitting down ranting on social media of how nobody wants to help them.

There's a step you will take and people will see giving you money for business as an investment and not a high risk venture.

Help me tell him biko... When you think you have seen it all with respect to my fellow Nigerians' entitlement mentality, then someone like the Op again breaks that record. Even the free training is a lot already. I had been doing that for long but I noticed only like 1 to 10 % of those so trained valued the training. At a point I gave a guy (not even my friend) 100K to sort things out with his training, only for him to return a few weeks after that that I should send him more money for the take off of a pet project. I wasn't rude or something, I simply told him no. That was literally the last time he spoke to or even greet him. That happened years ago.

You have to have a very good relationship with me now for me to even train you freely. You pay between 100k and 500k. Anyone not serious enough to get a training at all cost will never be serious enough to make anything out of any additional capital you give them.

I think the entitlement mentality is a reflection of poor parenting in Nigeria. You don't bring up your children with them thinking every other person they meet on the street that seems to have the means should be responsible for their lives. Not even when they are family members. It is shocking how deep this mentality runs in our society...

Few months ago an acquaintance of some sort approached me that he saw a vehicle belonging to me at a mechanic workshop. The next thing he told me gave me a huge shock: he actually opened his mouth that I should dash him the car! Then over Christmas another one called me that he noticed my wife was the one driving a new car I recently acquired. He too asked me to dash him the other car that my wife used to use more often.... I was against speechless. These are able-bodied men! I shouldn't even start with my experiences with ladies.

Interestingly, most (if not all) of these individuals I am talking about I had for years given them unsolicited investment/business ideas... I demystified the erroneous belief that money isn't all you need to break through financially. Most of the men, for years I advised to stop wasting their income on women... N2,000 today, N5,000 tomorrow... That's how money goes ago. They never listen. Every kobo that I have I worked for it, through discipline, meticulous planning, painful learning, patience, and a lot of hard work. And for the life of me I cannot give a kobo to an entitled person who thinks he/she is my responsibility. Who is more likely to use my money to smoke igbo, play BETnaija (or whatever), to sleep with some olosho, or use it to acquire a luxury my discipline wouldn't even allow me to indulge in. Yes, we have individuals being sponsored by us through training and schools, but I make such decisions extremely carefully after I must have watched you closely to know where your priorities lie.

I was about to sponsor one of such individuals a few years ago who had a very fundamental need having to do with her career training. The parents were poor, making combined less than 20K per month. I set up an opportunity for her through my wife and I paid her more than double what she deserved just to allow her save for that training. Imagine the silly lady rather than inform the father that she had part of the cost of her training saved, she used the money to buy a second phone that she said she always wanted to buy! I was soooooo maddddd when I heard this. That was the last time I opened an opportunity for her or spent any kobo towards her training. I called her, informing her about this in front of the father and telling her that I hoped she would learn from that.

I know that most of us in Nigeria were poor into a terribly poor economy; we literally inherited poverty when we are born in Nigeria. However, many have remained poor and will remain so because of poor choices that we continue to make. Parents need to train up children with strong characters who feel irritated asking every tom and dic.k for help. And stop watching most of our Nollywood nonsense that keeps making you think others are responsible for your life somehow.

If this Op is not very careful, this mentality of entitlement will lead him no where good. When his peers are busy doing the hard work of escaping their poverty heritage, he is busy thinking it is everyone's job to train him for free and then set him up with capital for free. Just like my late uncle, too lazy and too entitled to work hard, he had no woman to marry him. My dad, who is the younger brother, had to get him a wife and every market day my uncle would come to our house to ask my dad for the money to give his wife to go to the market. I hope he changes... Otherwise, he is going to grow up angry and bitter that no one is helping him.

Interesting thread..

Summary of lessons here: Refuse to settle for the Receiver but do all you can to be the Giver. That way, it's a win-win for you.

@OP , I came to understand that all we truly need is the right information and passion. The capital will come if you desire it enough and the right information will help you not to make mistakes.

Finally, please don't discard those your friends who had helped you in the best way they could.
God grace your efforts.
