Good morning fellow nairalanders. My phone got stolen two weeks ago and I have on it my MTN sim together with 9MOBIle.

Retrieving the lines has been an herculean task as i have been going to their centre for several days without any headway.

Please guys what is happening ? My sim is very vital to me especially to run accounts as I only do ussd on two of my accounts.

What's your experience like..................................... Honestly Nigeria is fast becoming something else!!!!!

I'm furious and angered ................ Just to retrieve sim is now like climbing Mount Everest

I'd be glad if this makes front page so relevant authorities can act on our plights

When you went to their offices, didn't they tell you what to do to retrieve your lines?

The truth is that Simswap is not easy to come by now owing to the fact that a directive was given by NCC

NCC has put a hold on sim activation for all Telcos. This means you probably wont be able to get your new sim to work. The guys upstairs (NCC) havent got a clue of the implication of their policy. Our prayer now is that the sim card and phone belonging to someone close to the NCC's bosses get stolen or lost so that they can lift the ban.

Na to dey pray mak person no get issues at those customer care offices/outlets o.

I saw hell when I went there to upgrade my MTN sim to 4G. They told me the sim is 4G already as shown on their system but the coverage is always 3G & I kept receiving messages to upgrade to 4G. I inserted other sim cards (my other MTN, Glo & Airtel sims) & they confirmed it that only that single sim (which is my hot line) doesn't cover 4G. They got confused & still stood on their claim.

I'm thinking of doing retrieval, maybe that would solve the problem but I do not have such a luxurious time to waste at the moment.

I went to a glo office somewhere in Abuja, I told them I lost my phone and needed a sim retrieval. He told me about NCC directives and all that. I waited until nobody was in sight, I squeezed into his hand $100 2 notes. when he saw it he was befuddled. What? He exclaimed, bring your sim pack. You have your most called 5 numbers and national ID card?
I handed Everything to him and disappeared like a king. Moral of the story. With money, everything works.

The best thing I did and still doing is avoiding getting my sim lost cuz I’m never ready to queue for NIN. I think I’m lucky to find my phone back after it fell off my pocket in a commercial bus. Maybe I’ll be here with ugly experience.

Mcslize:

Have you experienced where they pointed gun at you to bring out your newly bought phone of 74k with two of your Sims in it? You want to drag with them?

This one is not the phone falling off your pocket or someone stealing it from your pocket in a bus. They collect it from you with gun in a broad day light. That was my case on the 30 Dec, 2020.

Sorry for the loss no kind of that experience for me but i almost got robbed by five ugly guys late night as a street guy we just exchange words and drop some change for them to smoke but with gun no no.

Y'all should call NCC customer care line on 622 toll free and lay your complaints to them directly if your network provider is acting funny and giving you much stress.
