Blockage: Northern Tomato Farmers, Traders Lose Over N10Billion in One Week, Cry Out for Help

By Wisdom Nwedene

Following the blocking of foodstuff by northern traders to Southern part of Nigeria, IGBERE TV has gathered the traders have lost over 10 billion naira in one week.

IGBERE TV had reported that members of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuff and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria across the Northern part of the country have started diverting their goods and all consumables to the neigbouring countries of Niger Republic and Cameroon

They have also begun blocking trade routes to the South by stopping food item-laden trucks from going south.

Speaking to IGBERE TV via telephone, a trader, Musa Tijani said they have lost over N10Billion in just one week and pleaded with the group to allow them bring their foodstuff to the Southern part of the country.

According to him, "most of the perishable foodstuff have spoiled because even the countries that we are moving the goods to have the items".

"So, what happens is that when we get there, they won't buy most of the foodstuff till we will just dash them or dump them there."

"We need stop this blockage and see ourselves as one. There is no difference between an Igbo man, Hausa, Yoruba and Fulani if we our leaders can unite us" he told our correspondent.

If only they can recall all their almajiris in the south and start feeding them with this Food it would do the south a better good

This is the only region that claims to feed others but their children keep carrying bowls knocking on people's doors for scrumbs

Nawa o
Just one week and them Don dey beg make strike end??
Wait till one month.
Even the cattle guys go bow.
As for that 10bn hoax, ụna dey mad

By the time Southern Nigeria gets alternative to cows eg chicken, turkey, goats who go chop cows again from North?
People like me who no dey chop meat sef no send.

By the time the perishable goods of this farming season eg tomatoes onions watermelon carrots etc wastes without them recovering the money invested in it ehn
Northern farmers go fight Northern cabal.
Make ụna chill
Southerners should just focus on getting alternatives to these thibgs.
Seasoning flavours
Tin tomatoes
Chicken, goats, fish or avoid these sef
Make we see if North can consume their food alone...
Ha enwekwaranu population sef??
He he he

They need to understand economics next time before going into business grin

You can only create new market for your products if you sell innovative ideas.

You can't sell your products well in other countries that already has a similar product.

I see Igbo men dressing like Alhaji s going to Niger to buy these goods very very very cheap from Niger and Cameron

They will still come back to sell it in Nigeria.
Then there will be confusion in the enemies camp,

Cameroon and Neighboring countries cannot get enough after testing the forbidden fruit.

it's called extrepot trade

This so called blockade will affect everyone one way or the other.

If the farmers continue to make losses it will impact negatively on their ability to repay loans which they took from banks and we all know that over 90% of the banks in Nigeria are owned by southerners undecided

Don't complain if the dividend payout ratio by your bank or insurance company drops this year
