LANDING GIST

Hello house, congrats to those who have gotten approvals on their applications and best of luck to those awaiting a decision. It will end in praise. Let me summarise my landing experience and not bore you with stories since I still have some energy after arrival.

SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT MURTALA MUHAMMED AIRPORT

I flew with Ethiopian Airline and the flight was at 1:40 pm. I got to the airport a little late due to a last-minute rush/parking. Fast forward to entry. The first point was two immigration officers. They asked about my final destination, I told them Canada. They sighted my passport and handed it back to me. The next checkpoint was to weigh my luggage. Hmm! the first luggage (box) weighed 26kg and the second box carrying food weighed 33kg. I was forced to return some stuff back home and paid 60 dollars for the excess luggage and obtained a receipt because I was not ready to return any food so I rather reduced some clothing. Please try to use a travelling bag for your foodstuff to avoid overweighing so you won't be forced to buy ghana must go at the airport. The next check after was a lady who asked for my COVID test result, school enrollment letter and my passport. She snapped the enrollment letter and passport then sent it to someone by WhatsApp for confirmation. She asked for the Arrive CAN receipt. I showed her on my phone. The next point was where I got my boarding pass. After this, i started walking fast to the point of boarding because my aircraft was already boarding. I would advise you to try to get to the airport much earlier due to these new changes at the airport so you don't start rushing.

SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT ADDIS ABABA AIRPORT

The Ethiopian Airline flight took off on time around 1:55 pm. The flight was okay, a very massive Boeing aircraft and was not fully loaded to capacity. I guess due to COVID and not much demand due to travel restrictions. Our first stopover was at Addis Ababa. We had to pass our hand luggage, remove our shoes and belts, laptops through computer screening at three different areas in the airport. Such tight security. One of them saw dollars in my pocket, I told him I was a student, he had to check my passport and boarding pass to confirm. It is that strict. There is nothing wrong with holding your cash. Just let them know you are a student if peradventure they ask you. The next check at Addis Ababa was an Immigration Officer. She asked for my Negative COVID test result, evidence of Arrive Can and confirmation of booking of the 3 days stopover hotel in Canada. She took a copy of the COVID result and gave me a health form to fill ( like a questionnaire) I filled and returned back to her.

Try to make at least 3 copies of all your documents before travelling just in case an officer ask you at any of the airports. It all depends on the officer but better to be prepared.

SUMMARISED EXPERIENCE AT TORONTO AIRPORT

We were given 3 forms to fill in the plane, one of which is the declaration card ( the declaration card is where you will declare if you are holding 10,000 dollars or more, and foodstuffs like (meat fish, nuts, egg, vegetables, fruits etc). We all had to fill it in the plane, even the pilot kept announcing for us to fill it. We finally landed in Toronto after almost 20 hours in the air. Even when the plane got to Toronto airspace. It still spent almost 2 hours in the air before landing. CANADA is really big. I am not surprised it is the second-largest country in the world after Russia.

The airport looked a little skeletal. Some offices were not opened, I guess due to COVID. The first check at Toronto was different counters with immigration officers. We had to queue and was assigned to each one at random. The officer asked for my negative COVID test result, Arrive Can, evidence of booking my 3 days stopover hotel and evidence of booking of the 14 days isolation and the declaration card so I gave him all. I showed him the confirmation of 3 days hotel booking on my phone. I did not bother to print that out since you can only book 48 hours to your arrival in Canada and would be too late print. He did not even bother to review the card. He just signed and gave it back to me.

The next check was another set of different cubicles with various immigration officers ( The main point of entry). I noticed one cubicle was free and a Chinese-looking lady officer was there so I just went to meet her. She did not even press me as expected. She just asked for (1) Letter of Acceptance (2) Evidence of Arrive CAN (3) Evidence of booking of 3 days hotel stopover (4) Passport and then she asked two questions: Why are you coming to Canada, I answered I came to study for my MBA then the second question was how are you funding your studies and I said my biological parents are sponsoring me. She felt satisfied and printed my study permit. It all depends on the officer that would be interviewing you.

The next step was getting my luggage and I proceeded to another queue to register for the COVID test and was subsequently directed to a tent where a nurse took samples from my nostril and told me the result would be sent to my registered e-mail. After that, I got to another queue where I waited for the taxi going to my 3 days stop over hotel.

I wish everyone the very best as you plan your journey to Canada.

Congratulations once again and thanks for this information is it surely needed.

Hi guys I need your honest opinion on this, like put yourself in my shoes and tell me what you would do. ok so I started this studying abroad journey back in 2019 I was fresh out of high school and didn't plan on schooling in Nigeria, Canada has always been the only country on my mind. So I apply to one school in Canada, university of Manitoba, Winnipeg I was granted admission in November 2019 and applied for visa December of that same year, my decision envelope came and I was denied because of insufficient fund not because I didn't have the money the account wasn't funded so we funded the account and applied again and I forgot to add am not the only one going it's me and my junior sister and when I mean wasn't funded the money there wasn't enough for two people. So we funded the account and applied again in February 2020 and yes we we're using an agent so I didn't get any response from the embassy till October when only passport was returned without it being stamped and a little note which says Decision making is still in progress, final decision not taken I found that weird but since they gave a reasons I kept on waiting sending emails and webforms till February when I reached out to my agent and he said he got a mail from IRCC and he needed to see us privately and I was like wondering what went wrong so we met up with him only to tell me I've been banned from Canada for 5years for misrepresentation. Turns out IRCC already sent him an email since October to respond to clear their suspicion about misrepresentation and my agent didn't respond to them neither did he let us know about it until he was arrested, This was the same for my sister. I posted that on nairaland asking for you guys help and so on, i was told to avoid these countries:US UK Australia and New Zealand because they share the same database with Canada. Now I've searched for countries and I've come to the decision that Germany was ok for both me and my sister I've even picked two schools already and yes I'm going for a Bachelors degree and I plan to study anything relating to business, it could be marketing, business admin.,management e.t.c. ok so now I've spent 2yrs at home already and all my classmate are in school and I don't want to waste this year again on a country that would waste my time and money then not grant me visa and with what am seeing they said booking Appointment date with Germany is like asking the Nigerian government to pass a death sentence bill for (financial) corruption which is a first red flag for me like I don't have have another year to waste I want my application to move smoothly. my question is do you have any know European country that I could try I mean put yourself in my shoes and tell Me what you would do? At this point I'm confused and No schooling in Nigeria is not an option neither is schooling in Ukraine Cyprus or turkey so pls I need as much opinions as I can get

I will suggest you and your sister apply to different countries. You can choose either Germany, Belgium, Ireland or even the Netherlands while your sister choose Scotland, Spain,Denmark,or even Uk

Omo see ba bottom line here is there are other European countries that are top notch when it comes to education.
What God cannot do does not exist, do not look at where your classmate is at the moment, your time can bring massive favour and speed

No be who start the race go finish the race. So prayerfully choose a good country that will bring good news, speed, favour and all round fulfillment. There is always a reason behind every situation we face in life

Lastly don’t back out on your vision. If you don’t want to study in Nigeria or Ukraine, turkey etc then stick to it and I promise you will laugh eventually.

You can start your study elsewhere and still get a lawyer to help with this ban or study else where and wait for the ban to expire....

Best of luck girl

Sorry about the sad outcome of your application. The bad effects of being found inadmissible to Canada for a period of 5-years is extremely terrible and after serving this punishment/ban, it will be quite difficult to secure a visa to Canada or to any other top-rated English speaking countries (US, UK, New Zealand, Australia) whom have information sharing agreement with Canada.

Nonetheless, I know of a friend presently in Canada who was in same situation like yours and stupidly replied to the Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL) himself. He did not realize the severity of the situation and doesn't know how important it was to hire a lawyer to reply to the PFL letter. He ended up receiving a 5-year ban from IRCC for misrepresentation. After the ban was issued to him. I urged him to seek for a legal assistance/advice on the present matter. He heeded to my advice and went ahead to hire an experienced attorney. After having a 30 mins phone consultation with the lawyer, he felt confident that a ban is not actually a death sentence as it could also be overturned. The lawyers specialize in more difficult cases and they helped him in fighting the 5-year misrepresentation ban through the Judicial Review. Fortunately, they settled the case with the lawyer from IRCC. The lawyer from IRCC decided to settle and accept the settlement offer instead of going through the whole Federal Court process. He was elated because at the end of the entire process, the lawyer got the ban removed and his application was submitted for redetermination which was later approved by another immigration officer. Be careful not to wait too long. You only have a 60 days eligibility duration to fight through judicial review if the decision of your application was made outside of Canada. The major drawback involved with fighting through the Judicial Review process is due to the fact that its an expensive and time consuming process. Trust me, its worth it as you will receive justice on your case.

Prior to the implementation of the above suggestion as narrated by me, be sure and truthful to yourself that the bank statement submitted with your study permit application is in fact genuine and you've strong evidence to support its authenticity at the Federal Court of Canada as well as evidence to support the fact that your application was prepared by a compensated agent. Apart from this, I would advice you explore other good countries in Europe which don't have information sharing agreement with Canada. Germany, Lithuania, Belgium, Ireland, Poland, Spain and Hungary are good options.

I hope this information is helpful to your situation.

It will end in praise

Remove the admission letters from other universities in the US. Then commit your application to God. All the best.

Explain in your SOP, the part you will be explaining your proof of funds or under the table of content/list of documents in the proof of fund tab reasons you can’t submit the MBS for your sponsor.

RxOtunba:
-SOP
-Admission Letter to UWindsor
-Tuition Deposit receipt
-My dad's personal bank statement(MBS nt available in d bank)
-Dad's CAC docs
-Sponsorship letter on my dad's company letterhead
-Sworn affidavit of sponsorship(Do I need to add it since my father is my sponsor?)
-My salary acct statement(MBS)
-Payslips for the past 3 months
-Work ID card
-Reference Letter from my workplace
-Father's property documents
-Land given to me by my father in 2018(with legal backings)
-Passport, visas(both used and unused), travel stamps
-Family pics
-Admission Letter to other universities in US

Please what do I need to add or remove......I'm doing final review b4 submitting. Thanks

Okay boss, I will remove it. I wrote in my table of content "N.B: Ecobank said they don't have the facilities to generate MBS certificate, and that's why I couldn't provide my father's MBS certificate." That's okay I guess.

Sorry for the long questions

1. Book online https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/latest-travel-health-advice/mandatory-hotel-stay-air-travellers/list-government-authorized-hotels-booking.html#wb-cont. Choose province of where you'll be landing, preferably where your school is located, if your school province isnt there, chose the nearest amongst the 4 listed on the website then u book a connecting flight to your province where ull finish the 11days compulsory quarantine.

2. When filling the arrivecan, you'll input the address of your final destination where you're gon quarantine for the remaining 11days. So ure def gon book another flight to your final destination, now or before the 3rd day ends at the hotel.

[quote author=Molly90 post=99643439]Remove the admission letters from other universities in the US. Then commit your application to God. All the best.

Explain in your SOP, the part you will be explaining your proof of funds or under the table of content/list of documents in the proof of fund tab reasons you can’t submit the MBS for your sponsor.

What if the admission letter is from a school in Canada can one put it?

Hello everyone , please I need an urgent response to this. I submitted my application on 25th February 2021, got NSE request for IELTS only on 2nd march and expires 1st April. I honestly cannot submit this due to work pressure. Do I write an explanation letter or allow the time to roll. Thou I plan writing end of April during my vacation.
Note that I submitted MBS

Good day mr/Mrs doubleeazy

If you can't fulfil both of the NSE requirement I suggest you leave your application and wait for it to be processed the normal way after 30days. Writing a letter would not make the vo consider your application, and fulfilling the NSE request is not a guarantee, as people get visas without NSE of which am sure you will in regard of whatever route you choose.

Hope this helps.

Good Evening guys,
Please how many days does it take to get PPR adter BVL:- its been 7days now since i got Bvl. And my application would be a year old my march 20th. E be things.
Paper application. Timeline
- Applied: 20th March 2020.
- Biometrics done 20th March 2020
-Admission deferred to winter 2021- June 25th
- Got AIP (Approval-in-principle) : 25th September 2020
- Medical Request: 1st October 2020
- Document Request (New LOA):- 5th October
- Document Sent:- 6th October
- Medical Updated to Passed: 14th October 2020.
- BVL:- February 26th 2021.

And No news from them since then. Is there anyone here with a Similar Timeline?

Is your passport with you? Was it returned after the pandemic started?

You need to send mails to them. If you take time to read back a few pages, you will see where this same issue was raised and the advice that was given to the person.

The person thereafter got her PPR. So do well to read back a few pages and do the same. All the best.
