As much as I've resisted the urge to comment, I have to say this. The gifts mentioned in the book of Corinthians can only be activated when the apostles lay hand on the Christian. That is why Simeon the sorcerer had to attempt to bribe the apostles to lay hand on him so he can speak in tongues.

This brings me to 3 question, and they are;

1) Which apostle laid hand on the so called people speaking in tongues?
Acts 2:1-12
'1When the day of Pentecosta came, they were all together in one place.
2Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

5Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
6And when this sound rang out, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking his own language.
7Astounded and amazed, they asked, “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
8How is it then that each of us hears them in his own native language?
9Parthians, Medes, and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome,
11both Jews and converts to Judaism; Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”
12Astounded and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?"'

A force higher than any apostles ever would lay hands on the so called people speaking in tongues, in the form of a strong and powerful wind, with a holy unction blessed them with the ability and gift of speaking in tongues

Todetayo:
2) The gifts varies, and so why is it that no one has claimed to have the gifts of interpreting tongues?
All the gifts, including of interpreting tongues, are not for flaunt purposes.

Todetayo:
3) Even in the model prayer (Our father who art in heaven) was there a point that Jesus spoke in tongues?
The model prayer (Our father who art in heaven) was there, Jesus likely to have been spoken in Aramaic tongues

Todetayo:
Maybe I'll know the next thing to say If all these questions are answered.
Now that all three questions have been answered, be our guest, with giving what the next thing you've got to say

iamDrRhymes:
I guess you are as confused as I am.
1 Corinthians 14:33a
'For God is not a God of confusion'

God is not the author of confusion. Besides, God has given you a spirit of power, of love, of a sound mind and good judgment

I believed in many of the JW's doctrine for many years but I have come to realize that they are denying the power of God. I still appreciate them till now though and I think they are the most consistent Christian set.

Dear writer

I was like you before: making mockery those that wanted to impart it on me until it hit me one day while I was praying alone.

I was a born again but never believed in Speaking in Tongue. I thought it was a scam. It was so until I had the encounter one night in my room. Since then, I have been 100% fan of tongue-speaking.

Because you don't have it, don't conclude that it is fake.

I think every genuine believer must have the gift. Remember, that is the first thing Peter, Paul and the apostles of the old must do whenever they converted a soul.

Yes. It's initial evidence for every believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit but the gift of speaking in tongues is different.

If anyone is not speaking any human being language, then such is deceiving themselves that they are speaking a heavenly language, because on each three occasions, that the gift of speaking in tongues were biblically recorded, they on those three occasions, spoke in tongues that clearly were human and had meaning enough for those present to understand, without needing any interpretation or anyone to interpret to them all that was spoken.

It was from the speaking of tongues and after the speaking of tongues, that those targeted and present in the audience, began believing, then fully believed to then become believers

carbon copy iamDrRhymes

iamDrRhymes:
Well, your view though but I believe speaking in tongues is way deeper than the way you placed it.
1 Corinthians 14:5
'I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy.
He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues,
unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.
'

1 Corinthians 14:26-28
'26What then shall we say, brothers?
When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation.
All of these must be done to build up the church.
27If anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone must interpret.
28But if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God
'

1 Corinthians 12:7-11
'7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom,
to another the message of knowledge by the same Spirit,
9to another faith by the same Spirit,
to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10to another the working of miracles,
to another prophecy,
to another distinguishing between spirits,
to another speaking in various tongues,
and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, who apportions them to each one as He determines.
'

It is not my view, it is the bible view.

The 9 manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, are in 3 categories, classed as revelation, vocal and power gifts:
1. Revelation gifts
(i.e. gifts of the ability to reveal something)
- Word of wisdom
- Word of knowledge
- Discerning of spirits

2. Vocal gifts
(i.e. gifts of the ability to say something)
- Speaking in various tongues or languages
- Interpretation of tongues or languages
- Prophecy

3. Power gifts
(i.e. gifts of the ability to do something)
- Faith
- Healing
- Working of miracles

The view of the bible (i.e. 1 Corinthians 14:5) concerning, the position of speaking in tongues, in its Vocal gifts category, is very clear.

Now, iamDrRhymes , I'll ask you the following questions:
1. How is speaking in tongues in any way deeper than the way the bible place it?
2. What to your understanding, is the specific purpose for the gift of speaking in tongues?

No.

But of a truth, many believer speaks in tongues without knowing they do.
the problem is that most people want to sound like their pastors.

if all the disciples of Jesus had it even Paul the greatest had it and he gave it to everyone he preached to. if the apostle were incapacitated without it. if Jesus instructed them to wait for it
if every present great men I know have it I mean people that command sign and wonder. why do you think it's irrelevant

Only God or zion knows his children, and only the children would choose and decide how, what and when they act as they deem fit . It is not for any one to Pass judgment, rather it is a private matter between the 2 parties involved; in this case zion and his child

All those churches are ignorant of God's word. Apostolic Faith do believe that only those who spoke in tongues are the ones baptized by the spirit which made many struggle to speak too. Majority in turn fake it so as to be accepted by the church and brethren as brother. What a low thinking sect. They claim to have holy spirit but lack the fruit of the spirit.

anything received by faith is not fake.

What a beautiful experience but the question is that must every Christian speak in tongues and an evidence of having the Holy Spirit. I know the gift of tongues is real.
For me I think that every Christian mustn't speak in tongues as evident, the evident of the indwelling of the holy spirit is a total change in your behavior and the purity you exhibit, that is a sign that the holy spirit dwells in you. Cause purity is the nature of God and when you are pure, you have the holy spirit in you. I have always had the holy spirit in me way before I started speaking in tongues.

Selah!

But like I said, desire the gift of praying in the holyghost, it really helps you unlock some hidden spiritual potentials in you, also it empowers you to command higher spiritual authority. When I wake up midnight and feel a demonic presence in my room, I command it to get out and burst into tongues, it leaves quietly.

I used to have this roommate who was a member of one of these Pentecostal fellowships back then in campus. He had just graduated and was actually doing his clearance when I joined the room to replace him who was considerably older. So it happened one evening as we were getting to know ourselves better. He asked if I was truly born again with the evidence of speaking in tongues which I told him that I do not. He went ahead intently to tell me if I know that I can be baptized by the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongue right there in our room. Well, I must confess that I wasn't buying his idea then because I didn't know what speaking in tongues will do for me and secondly, I was of the Jehovah's Witness' stand point as I had been welcoming their teaching for years earlier.

He swiftly went to close our door from behind as he saw my readiness to give his 'Holy Spirit' a try. He prayed in tongues for while and after, he laid hands on me hoping that I will fall on the bed under his 'claimed anointing' but I could only encourage him to try harder with my theatrics. He tried and tried until I willingly granted his request and he felt better but became even more intense with his ritual. This 'Spiri koko' brother will then ask me at intervals if I have the urge to speak in an unknown tongue and I will always give him an outright 'No' till hot sweat covered us both ([/i]he must have been figuring out what could be wrong with this Pre Degree Student[i]). After about an hour of his unyielding exercise, he just told me to speak anything that comes out my mouth without refraining myself. So for the fact that I can't wait to leave that tinny room for a deep breath of fresh air, I voluntarily granted his request again. I spoke one of these popular gibberish- 'skibobobo' .... and he said [/i]'Yes! That is it! that's your tongue! Continue!'[i]. He became very happy and even worshipped God for saving a soul while I was having a good laugh inside of me. After that day, he will always ask me about how many hours I have spoken in tongues each day and of course you know, I will always give it to him so as to discharge myself on time. grin

Well, the above story was a funny experience I had more than 10 years ago and to the Glory of God today, I have shredded out doctrines and believe systems that deny the power of God. However, I still question the much emphasis on speaking in tongues by many churches today.

Jesus Christ said in March 16:17-18: [/i]“And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”[i]

Note that Jesus Christ made mention of other signs that will accompany those who believe, not just speaking in tongues. So why can't we have people like my former room mate say: Are you born again with the evidence of driving out demons? or with the evidence of healing the sick or any other signs mentioned in that Mark's Chapter?
‭‭

Speaking in the tongues is part of the 9 Gift of the Spirit mentioned in 1Corinthians 12:8:11. The chapter also says that the Spirit Himself give as he determines- that means that any of the 9 spiritual gifts can attest to presence of the Holy Spirit even though it is possible to operate in more than one or even all the gifts (Ephesians 1:3). Why is this singular emphasis on speaking in tongues? What happens to the gifts of interpretation of tongues? Why is the relegation of other spiritual gifts?

Infact, the gifts of tongues appear to be the least in all the 9 gift of the spirits? (Matthew 23:23) Peter never spoke in tongues before he rose the lame man at the entrance of the beautiful gate, did he? Did he speak in tongues before he rose Dorcas from the dead? Did Paul speak in tongues to restore Eutychus to life. Where exactly can we find it in the bible where signs and wonders were performed through praying in tongues?

Is it a lie that speaking in tongues has be abused or hijacked by strange spirits in the church today? You get to a church and you will see everybody muttering the same incoherent syllables in the name of speaking in tongues (Matthew 6:7). Could it be that they got their own speaking in tongues using that my formal roommates style? How does the spirit of God come upon someone who do not have the true knowledge of God? God can not be mocked! Even unbelievers already know popular lines of speaking in tongues incase they find themselves in same corner I found myself 10 years ago. You will enter a church these days and you won't even know the prayer point because nobody is or can actually interpret their 'claimed tongues' (1 Corinthians 14:28). Again, why the emphasis on speaking in tongues when other spiritual gifts like prophesy are been left unattended to?

Please note that I never said that speaking in tongues isn't real, Infact I believe in the reality of the tongues of angels because I have experienced it before (1 Corinthians 13:1) but my point here that, is speaking in tongues not just a gift amidst numerous gifts in the bible? Why will speaking in tongues be the only evidence to prove the Holy Spirit? Our emphasis as Christians should be in godly characters i.e the fruits of the spirit which are: Chastity, self control, modesty, faithfulness, gentleness, godliness, long suffering, peace, patience, kindness, joy, charity (Galatians 5:22-23). Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 7:15-20, by 'their fruits we shall know them'

Do you even know that speaking in tongues is not only a Christian phenomenon? Somethings are connecting as regards to the Christianity we practice in this age. May God grant us the spirit of discernment (1 John 4:1).

You were trying to correct something done wrongly but you filled your write up with so much insincerity.
The Word of God is not some mechanical interpretation. One can only operate on that which he/she understands.

Matt.13.8 - But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
Matt.13.9 - He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

I hope the spirit of discernment comes upon you to understand the above verses.

Where did I say every Believer should speak in tongues?

Every Believer who claims to Be Filled with the HOLYGHOST should Filled with the evidence of the Holyghost.

When you surrender your life to JESUS, that is the first step.
You Press towards Sanctification which is removal of the adamic nature of Sin.
When that is done, you press towards having to be Filled with the HOLYGHOST. It's a whole new level.
Not all believers are Filled the Holyghost.

Read the whole of Acts 2 to under the impact of the Holyghost

So are you saying the only evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues? If that what you r saying and it seems so then you are wrong. As its not scriptural that being filled with the Spirit translates to speaking in tongues.

Once you are born again, the holy spirit come into your life, he comes to help you in your new life you just found and you know it and can recognise his presence. Meanwhile he is to help you to grow, to know Christ more and more in order to assume maturity.but you are yet to have him in his fullness, you have him like a portion of water inside a glass of water, it is baptism that makes you have him in his fullness, and the evidence of that fullness is speaking in tongues.when you are baptized, you easily recognise his presence in any anointing arena. This baptism comes with a lot of gifts that facilitate your spiritual maturity, like revelations, quick understanding of the words without struggle, access to his voice in several ways of communications.
A lot of people didn't know the blessedness of speaking in tongues they just make jest of it to their detriment, but I know it is an attempt by the gate of hell to underscore his important in our spiritual journey. I had being challenged that I couldn't put words together in prayer, I was only saved by pray in tongues only. Hallelujah!

1 Corinthians 12:30
'Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages?
Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages?
(i.e. Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?)
Of course not!
'

Every believer do not have to 'speak in tongues' as an evidence of having the Holy Spirit because aside 'speak in tongues' there are other manifestations of the evidence of having the Holy Spirit for every believer

'Speak In Tongues' is available to be given, as a gift, as when it is deemed necessary for each believer to possess. This meaning that, not having the gift of 'speaking in tongue' is not a sign of a fault or failure to meet any certain standard

1 Corinthians 14:13–17
'13Therefore, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.
15What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also.
16Otherwise, if you give thanks with your spirit, how can anyone in the position of an outsider say “Amen” to your thanksgiving when he does not know what you are saying?
17For you may be giving thanks well enough, but the other person is not being built up.
'

1 Corinthians 14:22
'So then, tongues are for a sign, not to those believing, but to the unbelieving;
but prophecy is not to the unbelieving, but to the believing.
'

In the hierarchy of the gifts and manifestations of the evidence of having the Holy Spirit, 'speak in tongues' is at the lower rungs of the hierarchy ladder

It is interesting to know that Apostle Paul downplays the importance of speaking in tongues. As, Apostle Paul, on record, is seen to say, do not speak in tongues without an interpreter, but this advice and guideline, is religiously, regularly and openly disregarded during gathering worships, corporate and personal prayer sessions.

Tongues, actually is meant to be used for a sign, for or to 'targeted' unbelievers, but not, to or for believers directly. So, the questions, to be asked then, are:
1. How is or are tongues, be used as a sign, for or to 'targeted' unbelievers?
2. Who originally is 1 Corinthians 14:22 referring to specifically, as 'unbelieving' or talking about as 'unbelieving'?
3. What exactly is it that, the 1 Corinthians 14:22 'unbelieving' are not accepting as truth, especially without proof, that necessitated using the gift of speaking in tongue to pass on information with to them?

God bless you. You are knowledgeable and read your bible too. Kudos once again.

Anyone who tells you that speaking in tongues is the ONLY or the MAJOR evidence of the spirit is ill-informed. Tell them to also state that as further evidence as in the day of pentecost, there MUST be pple in the vicinity who speak the said language and can hear the said language, since we are doing this tin verbatim.

Bassreeves has explicitly and intelligently explained this as backed and corroborated by the bible in his post. I dont think there really is anything more to say.

We are sealed with the Holy Spirit as He confers on us the sonship of God!

Here you mix up two different things. Yes, we are commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit!

How?

Acts 2:4:
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Shows what happened AFTER they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

To be FILLED with the Holy Spirit is being CONTROLLED by the Holy Spirit. This leads to a joy from our hearts to the Lord

Eph 5:18-19:
"And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"

How does a person get filled with wine? Simple!
By drinking more wine!

How does a person get filled with the Holy Spirit? Simple!
By obeying more of the Holy Spirit!

The effect is Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
AND
Getting full Controlled by the Holy Spirit.

Here are examples of being filled with the Holy Spirit having nothing to do with tongues

Acts 4:8:
"Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said to them , You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,"

Acts 4:31:
"And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness."

Acts 9:17:
"And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared to you in the way as you came, has sent me, that you might receive your sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost."

Acts 13:9:
"Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him."

In all the above, being filled is different from tongues

It's obvious you have a mixup with what Spiritual gifts are:

Spiritual Gifts are supernatural abilities given by the Holy Spirit at His discretion to Every Child of God for the Edification of the Body of Christ.

There are two kinds of tongues
1. The Acts of Speaking/Praying in tongues
2. The gift of Tongues

Let me make the distinction for you:
1. The Act of Speaking/Praying in tongues

You will agree with me that All Christians are expected to Act in ALL aspects of spiritual gifts not necessarily because the have the gifts. Examples: All Christians are expected to Prophesy, Teach, Evangelize not necessarily because they have been called as prophets or teachers or evangelists. Similarly for the "Tool" gifts like Healing, Faith, Discernment of spirits, Tongues and interpretation ALL the the level of our faith and grace.

The fact that I haved been used to heal doesn't mean I have the gift of healing
The fact that I have faith doesn't mean that I have the gift of faith
The fact that I speak in tongues doesn't mean that I have the gift of tongues

2. The Gift of Tongues:

There are diverse kinds of the Gift of tongues

a. Acts of tongues (glossa) interpreted into the language of the listeners in their ears
b. A known spoken language (Edo) translated into Berom language in the ears of the listeners
c. The speaker (Hausa) speaking spontaneously (an unlearned) (Japanese) language
d. Ability to learn and be proficient in a new real language within a very short time.

There is no spiritual gift that is for personal Edification!

The Acts of Praying in tongues is for personal Edification

Eph 4:11-12:
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:"

Tobechuckwu:

1. Having d holy spirit : Acts 1 Vs 8 , John 16 Vs 13.2
.

Here is a repost if it will help in clarifications

There is the Act of speaking/praying in tongues (glossa). This is NOT the gift but the act.

Let's Note the following:

1Cor 14:14:
"For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful."
1Cor 14:15:
"What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."

1. It is your spirit that prays (not the Holy Spirit)
2. You do not understand your uterrances
3. It is under your control to choose either to pray in understanding or with your spirit

1Cor 14:2-4:
"For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God: for no man understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he that prophesies speaks to men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself; but he that prophesies edifies the church."

4. No one understands you
5. You edify yourself

1Cor 14:13:
"Why let him that speaks in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret."

6. Even though, no one understands, it is not meaningless. It could be a prayer, prophecy or praise in communication to God or to man.

Note:
Every Christian is expected to be able to Act in ALL areas of spiritual giftings and offices not necessarily because they have been gifted as such.

Example:
OFFICE GIFTS:
-All Christians are commanded to teach even though not all Christians are Teachers
-All Christians are commanded to evangelize even though not all Christians are Evangelists
UTILITY GIFTS:
-All Christians are expected to heal even though not all Christians have the gift of Healing
-All Christians are expected to have Faith even though not all Christians have the gift of Faith

-All Christians are expected to serve even though not all Christians have the gift of Service.

There is the Gift of speaking in tongues (dialectus). This is NOT the act but the gift.

Acts 2:8:
"And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?"
1. It contains messages for human comprehension.

1Cor 12:10:
"To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:"

2. It is a gift given by the Holy Spirit (not your human spirit) in the order of miracles, prophecy, discernment of spirits

1Cor 14:27-28:
"If any man speak in an unknown tongue , let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God."

3. Not all tongues(languages) are unknown. In the case where the language is unknown AND there is no interpreter, the speaker should keep silent (in the church). When it's known, there is no need of interpretation.

Acts 2:6-13:
"Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language . And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What means this? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine."

4. Sometimes the Gift of tongues operate diversely on the listeners where each one hear the speaker speaking his own particular language.
5. The tongues may be like noises to the ones the message was not meant for. If 120 people are speaking loudly in English language, I doubt if anyone will be able to comprehend what they are saying.

1Cor 12:10-11:
"To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."

-Most of the time, the Gift of tongues operate in the mission fields where language is a barrier to the gospel.

-Sometimes, it occurs in the cause of one to one evangelism where language is a barrier.

-And sometimes, there is a prophecy, word of knowledge or wisdom for someone.

The Gift of Tongues is not for personal edification like the Act of Tongues.

Shalom

Fact!

Righteousness2:
Speaking in tongues is not what you learn to do.
Speaking in Tongues is an Evidence of HolySpirit in you.
Every believer who claims to be Filled with the HolySpirit should have the evidence of speaking Mysteries
But note, you can't be living in sin and claim you have the HolySpirit and you can speak in tongues. It is not Possible.
The HolySpirit cannot stand the sight of any form of iniquity or sin.
So if you are living in sin and claim you can speak in tongues you are Just rapping!

Speaking in other tongues isn't fake. We have genuine ones and otherwise. Interpreting other tongues is a gift from God. We still have people with such gift. I can't force myself to interpret tongues except God gifts me. I must also be sincere that there are also fake tongues too. Let God be the judge.

There is nothing to interpret about speaking in tongues. Acts 2:4 clearly explained what happened in that room:

"And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability". They spoke in other languages, not the gibberish all these fake gods of men claim to be speaking today.

Correct.

Can u kindly show me in d Bible where d gift of tongue is mentioned?
Eph4 vs11-12, u talked about is mainly for the work of the ministry which is basically d call of God upon pple. These are pple that are called by God specifically for a purpose in the ministry.

I think I've told how to be filled with the holy spirit already, when u pray in the holy ghost he takes over u nd the holy ghost takes charge that is being filled with the holy ghost. Filled with the holy spirit means for him to have control over u than ur normal sense. He's in charge nd control. When speak in tongues, u give d holy spirit more access over ur life to be incharge. Eph 5 Vs 18-19 added to ways of being filled.

Speaking in tongues is for every Christian , he gave every Christian the holy ghost while will he now allow only few to speak in tongues?

And I ask... All that speak in tongues... Are they all real or do we have fake ones?

AND how do we identify the real and fake ones
Re: Must Every Believer Speak In Tongues As An Evidence Of Having The Holy Spirit? by stancydg: 6:08pm On Mar 07, 2021
Its commonplace these days for the enemy to use various channels against the Church of Christ, even seemingly innocent and well crafted write ups. No wonder he has to do so much cos he knows he has but a short time. If not, there shouldn't be any reason to debate why a kingdom/nation or ethnos has its own lingua franca. Just like a child learns the language of the environment he is born into, why doesn't it make sense for logical folks to see the necessity of those said to be "re-born" to gradually communicate in the lingua of the new world they now live in? Of course, the answer is in the Word...Spiritual things are meaningless to the carnal mind.

Otherwise, it would be clear that the spiritual communication that prayer is can't run smoothly without words that are in line with the "Will of God", which The Spirit helps the believer to come into by " Groanings that can't be understood". Rom 8: 26 - 28 as quoted below;

So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

27 And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.

28 We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

So, how on earth is a believer supposed to function in line with God's Will without the evidence of speaking in tongues that builds up his "Most Holy Faith" according to JudeV20 and helps align his prayers with The Father's Will?

Don't be deceived.

Scriptures on the gift of tongues: interestingly, the bible speaks about DIVERSITIES of tongues (Not just the glossa you all speak in churches). Glossa is just ONE out of the several means by which the GIFT of tongues operate.

1Cor 12:7-11:
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these works that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."

1Cor 12:28-30:
"And God has set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?"

Tobechuckwu:

Didn't I give you at least four Scriptures where tongues is NOT associated with being filled with the Holy Spirit?

Act4:8, Act4:31, Act9:17 and Act13:9

When you speak in tongues (glossa)
1. You edify yourself (not the church)
2. Your spirit prays (Not the Holy Spirit)

Do you know just ONE other spiritual gift that is for self edification?

Tobechuckwu:

Speaking in tongues is for every Christian , he gave every Christian the holy ghost while will he now allow only few to speak in tongues?
Every Christian can speak in tongues if they are willing to exercise the required Faith
However,
Not every Christian has the GIFT of tongues.

I have tried to explain the several manifestations of this gift in my other writeup and mention to you.

The gift of tongues is most useful in evangelism where language barrier is a factor.

Let me copy and past a section of it here.

The Gift of Tongues is not for personal edification like the Act of Tongues.

you said that!

Politician. The point is its very erroneous to equate being filled with the Holy Spirit to speaking in tongues as tongues is just one of the gifts of the spirit.

This error had prevailed amongst Christians hence the various devilish tongues and manifestations.

Dont you wonder, a Christian blast tongues for 3 hours yet his character is flawed. Its yhe fruits that you exhibit when filled with the spirit not the gifts
