cococandy:you are not just a farm tool but a dumb one at that, show me where or when iweala or mrs johnson have ever identified themselfs as ''feminist''?.so every successful women is automatically a feminist?.first of all feminism is a leftist political ideology that has much marxist/socialist influnce, most if not all conservative/rightwing women dont want to have anything to do with feminism, feminism is just another liberal nonsensical experiments, and i dont expect any serious african women to identify herself as a feminist. |

haybhi1:May I remind you that this OP's passion to support the feminism movement, was fed by the inability of his dad to demonstrate enthusiasm, when it comes to allowing his woman to exude any of the good qualities he mentioned? Of course, no one ever accused men, especially africans, of a willingness to accept that they oftentimes only audio-want logical, intelligent, smart and all the other attributes from their women, that they can barely handle, due to some hierarchical ascendancy, passed down from their ancestors. A lot of Nigerians are walking stereotypes. Or you yourself, in all honesty, can you allow an Okonjo Iweala type of wife, to blossom in "your house"? Leaving you with the baby and no soup in the house, to attend some summit in Holland, being opinionated as to where you should settle..and the works... Reaaally? As the OP has tacitly suggested, there is a thin line between challenge and quarrel. |

Rocktation:Don’t mind them. That’s the definition of bad woman to the average Nigerian. Putting her career before the man’s egusi soup cravings. How dare she?. Those who use the okonjo-iweala family as an example of women who still succeed despite the “fake oppression” are never honest enough to tell themselves the truth. That they will be the first to condemn any woman who sacrifices what that woman had to sacrifice to get to where the family is. A man who lets his woman soar like her husband did would be a simp by their definition. But now that the family is successful, they want to use her to score their foolish insincere points |
Happy International Women's Day to the females out there. When growing up as a child, my Mom faced a lot of discriminations in the hands of my Dad and his family. She faced constant assaults physically, emotionally and spiritually. My Dad never wanted my Mom to fulfill her potentials because he felt his authority in the house would be challenged if my Mom become financially independent. My Dad's anti-progressive attitudes towards my Mom drained all her aspirations to become great in life. She abandoned her lofty ambitions because she's a wife. She left the things that would have made her fulfilled because she's had to save her marriage. My parents lack of cooperation affected my upbringing and education(thanks to exposure and good friends). I could have been making South Nigeria proud if I had good education but hey, here we are ![]() I discovered my Mom wasn't the only person in the league of subjugation by men. It came to my knowledge that women are slaved beings in that thing called Marriage. I discovered most men are envious of their women who seek to be free and great in life. All of my childhood experiences and societal ideologies made me arrive at the conclusion that marriage is nothing but a trap for women. Crazy enough, women are the ones who seek marriage the most. I have decided never to get married because I believe in great potentials that women harbor. I strongly believe in the strength of women. I believe in women's capabilities. Many of you guys would say Nigerian Women are useless. How many of you guys would husband a woman who aspire to be as great as Okonjo Iweala, Folorunsho Alakija? How many of you doesn't mind having a wife who is richer and influential than you are? Well, me don't mind seeing my woman greater than I am. Her breakthroughs would only multiply my desire to be greater. As for me, I have decided to shun marriage. Even if I have to get married in the future, she must be a woman capable of challenging me. What I mean by challenge here isn't the woman who quarrel me, I mean the woman who have a lot to bring on the table. A woman I can gain from intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and of course physically. She must be a woman ready to speak up for other women. FEMINISM DOESN'T BRING AN END TO THE THOUSAND YEARS REIGN OF MEN IN THE SOCIETY. FEMINISM IS CREATING A FUTURE OF FREEDOM FOR BOTH GENDERS TO GO AHEAD AND FULFILL THEIR GREATEST POTENTIALS. My Advice to Our Ladies Out There: Seek to be independent in all ramifications. Financial, emotional, spiritual, physical independence etc. Choose to be the best you can be with track records, don't choose to be a hoe. HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY.
thanks for this. Made my time on NL worthwhile |

Op, I share same believes with you. Though my own believe in female gender emancipation wasn't because females around me got subjugated in any form. I just believe that humanity stands to gain more from a world of gender equality. However, how many women are ready to embrace this gender equality we're talking about Believe me that a large number of Nigerian ladies are satisfied with their current place in the society as second fiddles to their male counterparts. Emancipation of the female gender also calls for change in the way certain things are done in the society. How many are ready to change![]() |

Billyonaire666:I believe this about summarizes what I was going to type in response to this topic. Someone just came in here, admitted he was raised in a dysfunctional home, admitted to having a bad childhood, then ended up being a feminist because of the emotional trauma associated with his upbringing. Classic!!! ![]() As if sensible people don't already know that majority of modern feminists are a walking shit-load of emotional baggages. The OP simply needs to heal. Not everyone was raised in a home like his, and as such, won't need to become feminists before having common sense. |

When I see write-ups like this, I suddenly realise the rise in number of men shunning marriages as well as those of more women clamouring for it. This confusion we've created and are grooming in the society today, may consume us one day. Continue. |

1Sharon:@bold: Some women have perfected the art of switching energies; from baby girl to maale to queen and back. In Omotola's words: She switched from boss, to wife, to mother back to boss in five minutes. A woman ditto a man needs to know how to wear and juggle all the many hats of responsibilities. |

scofield114:All I see is a weak heart filled with insecurities. A heart blurred in visions and insights. Hundreds of thousands of generations have passed the earth in evolution. If everything were to be the way it was, you and I would be slaves farming cassava on acres of lands. This topic wouldn't have exist because there won't be Technology. This world is meant to evolve. All of the ideologies which guards our mode of relation, the Religions we practice today etc were once rejected by previous generations. Today, they become norms. Imagine a world where discrimination doesn't exist, world where everyone can go ahead to pursue a career that gives them joy. A world where we feel fulfilled as we age older because we chose a path that complements our potentials. A world where we are all free to choose what we want. You might nod your head and say such world can never exist. Just ask yourself, are all generations the same? |
