The government upholds the American system. A "poor" person in the United States will eat better than the average Nigerian. No one is starving in America unless it is by choice (usually drug related). If you don't have housing in America, the government will give you housing. Don't believe the stories about homelessness. In the US it only means you do not have a home with you can pay for monthly and live with your own individual family. If you see the homeless and temporary housing given to the homeless, you would weep for Nigerians. There are so many benefits for the poor in the United States including stable electricity and constant clean water. Just forget trying to uplift Nigeria. Make your leaders accountable.

I watched a documentary on the life in the US.

So many people are homeless.

They sleep in their cars or some of them use clothes and tarpuline to build a small structure on the road side where they sleep at night.

They cannot afford house rent which is very high.

There are millions of white American citizens who are suffering like this.

Some are jobless and depend on charity.

I was surprised when I saw that documentary.

Some of our annual rent here is weekly/ monthly rent over there. Can you pay over 100K naira monthly house rent with 400K monthly salary here in Nigeria? You can’t do that, but you don’t have a choice over there. You pay or kicked out of the house.

Some of our people over there are becoming wiser now. They don’t mind sleeping on the streets, work for at least 5-10yrs, move back to Nigeria with their savings. You cannot survive with 100M living comfortably a year over there. Tax go finish you up. But you can live large with 100M for 5yrs or more here in Nigeria depends on your lifestyles tho.

You don’t pay unnecessary tax here. But in foreign countries you pay almost everything.

If you don’t do that, you’d work all your life and come back with nothing. Those of you on this method are wise. But becareful of the people you send your money to here. Trust no one! Get a trustworthy lawyer involved.

U can make unnecessary noise or play loud music here. You can’t try such over there and not find yourself in police cell.

Dude unless you are going to live as a refugee in US, 400k ain't shit. You can't even get a decent apartment with that amount. In san Francisco, a single bed room with a bath room starts from $3200 per month! Not to talk of tax, electricity bill, food, etc. .

My background, went to the USA as a student so I lived the student life. Was there for 33 years so I obviously had a family and career.

I’m back in Nigeria now going on three years. Ten thousand wild horses won’t drag me back to living in the USA.

I’m living my best life in Nigeria now. May our blessings find us wherever we are.

Yes it is true, i know someone who works abroad as a security officer and deliberately lives a frugal lifestyle for like 5 years living in a shared apartment to save on rent and eating the same food everyday and after 5 years the amount of money he came to Nigeria with, his generation would never suffer again

I think what OP is trying to talk about is the PPP (Purchasing Power Parity).

In a lay man’s term, comparing currencies isn’t just as easy as the exchange rate. For example, you see people say they are better off in “Dubai” because they are earning 400k there. They are always quick to convert it to Naira and at that point it looks big to you that is earning 30k in Nigeria.

The big/important question is, what would 400k do for you in Dubai and what would it do for you in Nigeria?

How much is a bottle of coke there?
How much is a plate of rice?
How much is transport fare?
Etc...

If these things are not at equilibrium, then it is advisable you look WELL before you leap.

Don’t allow any agent to tell you, you would earn 400k in Azerbaijani. An educated mind should ask some questions, else you would soon realize 400k isn’t always 400k. If you know what I mean.

nigga yo ass definitely high on ogogoro. alright lets do the math. the highest paying securty guard job ib the UK will pay you at most 18 pounds an hour and you have to be in london to get these rates. outside lonndon yu will be lucky to get 10 pounds an hur. alright lets go for the 18. so security work is 12 hour shifts 5 days a week is 60 hours multiplied by 18 is 1080 pounds a week ( no security guard earns this amount but lets assume yur guy earns it ). tax on this level of salary is 40 percent and so he is left with like 600 a week which is 30,000 pounds a year. lets even assume he sleeps on the streets and begs for food and doesnt touch his 30,000 pounds for 5 years is 150,000 pounds. so you are telling me a man with 150,000 pounds generaton of children will never suffer again ? 150,000 pounds that cannot buy house in lekki or banana island na him his generations will not suffer again ? you do know thats only 85 million naira right ?
