Then why are you still there?
Come back to Nigeria and start earning 100k and let's see how you'll survive.
People will just be discouraging us not to bother escaping this Godforsaken Nigeria yet they themselves will never want to come back so we can face the battle here together.
Dude unless you are going to live as a refugee in US, 400k ain't shit. You can't even get a decent apartment with that amount. In san Francisco, a single bed room with a bath room starts from $3200 per month! Not to talk of tax, electricity bill, food, etc. .

The government upholds the American system. A "poor" person in the United States will eat better than the average Nigerian. No one is starving in America unless it is by choice (usually drug related). If you don't have housing in America, the government will give you housing. Don't believe the stories about homelessness. In the US it only means you do not have a home with you can pay for monthly and live with your own individual family. If you see the homeless and temporary housing given to the homeless, you would weep for Nigerians. There are so many benefits for the poor in the United States including stable electricity and constant clean water. Just forget trying to uplift Nigeria. Make your leaders accountable.

There is homelessness is America, easier to be homeless compared to Nigeria, especially if you fall on hard times. Go to NY, LA HOuston all the big cities in yankee them full there

forget about government housing, you will not pray for your enemy to live there because it will be full of junkies , prostitues all sort of weirdos.

U ppl go just they type without any knowledge.

I watched a documentary on the life in the US.

So many people are homeless.

They sleep in their cars or some of them use clothes and tarpuline to build a small structure on the road side where they sleep at night.

They cannot afford house rent which is very high.

There are millions of white American citizens who are suffering like this.

Some are jobless and depend on charity.

I was surprised when I saw that documentary.
It is because they cannot work. Na person wey work go enjoy better life na. Me way just enter USA i Dey pay my bills steadily, I buy small car join body.

A 100K monthly salary earner in Nigeria is better than a 400K monthly salary earner in the United States.

The luxury lifestyles some of us live here with 100K, cannot sustain us a day over there. We can’t try such in US and save a dim.

Some of our annual rent here is weekly/ monthly rent over there. Can you pay over 100K naira monthly house rent with 400K monthly salary here in Nigeria? You can’t do that, but you don’t have a choice over there. You pay or kicked out of the house.

Some of our people over there are becoming wiser now. They don’t mind sleeping on the streets, work for at least 5-10yrs, move back to Nigeria with their savings. You cannot survive with 100M living comfortably a year over there. Tax go finish you up. But you can live large with 100M for 5yrs or more here in Nigeria depends on your lifestyles tho.

You don’t pay unnecessary tax here. But in foreign countries you pay almost everything.
In naija you can own 10 cars..not in the United States because you pay for packing space for each car. You get the point now?

Some of our people in diaspora, once they earn $10K in a month or so, depends on the job, they’d send $9K down to their Nigeria account and keep $1K for their upkeep. Some would buy lands and build houses for rent or some other businesses.
If you don’t do that, you’d work all your life and come back with nothing. Those of you on this method are wise. But becareful of the people you send your money to here. Trust no one! Get a trustworthy lawyer involved.

U can make unnecessary noise or play loud music here. You can’t try such over there and not find yourself in police cell.

So you see….We are privileged here. We only need to get bad political leaders off the way. By getting involved in politics, national, state, LGA and community affairs. That’s how American youth you admire, do.

They don’t just fold hands, wailing and waiting for a miracle. They debate, disagree, challenge, involved and create. You get the point now?

In that kind 1783, this O.P go be that kind slave wey go literally lick slave masters boots and rat out the brave slave that tries to escape the plantation. Trying to sell white as black to us. Lmao.

OR

It's either you're doing this on purpose. You have a plan to discourage people from going to USA so that the chances of your visa approval increases lmao

OR

You're not mentally sound and have no understanding of basic economics.

Minimum wage in USA is $7.25/hour. 8 hours of work is $58. A week excluding Sunday is $348. That's N140,000 salary weekly. (note that companies pay more than minimum wage sometimes $9 or $10/hour.

Minimum wage in Nigeria is N30,000 monthly grin grin grin

First of all, me earning minimum wage of N600,000 + monthly which pays all my bills in USA is actually suppose to be the poorest of the citizens in USA.
The man earning N100,000 monthly in Nigeria who last last go still borrow from all these piggy bank app lmao is suppose to be low class not even poor. Where is the "luxury life"??

I'm not even gonna get started on standard of living, security, credit system, healthcare. Nigeria is made for the elite and politicians. They don't tax you properly because they're already stealing from you.

Deep down, every Nigerian wants to enjoy the elitist life without actual hardwork. O.P you don collect that politician's contract abi wey you know say go displace many citizens. OR you don kill your mama for money. Shame.

The real point is this. To make 100k a month in Nigeria you must have a fairly decent job maybe in a govt ministry and so on. If you had the same equivalent job in the US, you will make about $40000 a year which is about $2800 a month after tax.
So start the comparison from there. 100k in Nigeria vs $2800 in the US.

Its the plain truth ,but many wont agree.do you Know that 60 % of the Money goes to paying Rent and utilities. The system abroad is designed such that everything goes Back to the system. The Money is moving round the system. In Nigeria ,the Money is stacked in the Account of rich people who save IT for the Future Generation and depriving those WHO need.imagine somebody having Billion stacked in an Account

This is exactly why nairaland and Nigeria is a bloody joke. Someone that has not left the shores of Nigeria is comparing a 100k salary in Nigeria ($222) to a $400k salary in the U.S. (N180 million). Are you mentally okay? Do you understand what a $400k salary is in the U.S.? We are talking monthly here not per annum! This is the salary of top executives in Fortune 500 companies! Are you mad Are you okay

A 100k salary earner in Nigeria is barely middle class! A $400k salary is in the top 10% of salary earners in the States! Another question, what is this needless comparison with Nigeria and U.S.? Nigeria is not even better than Saudi Arabia let alone the U.S.! Stop this nonsense delusion! More than 80% of people in this country live below the poverty line yet you idiots keep comparing yourselves to countries that have a sizable middle class!

You people know nothing about how country ticks! How well payed are your doctors, nurses, teachers and police compared to developed countries?? How well payed are your cleaners, refuse collectors, soldiers and scientists compared to developed countries? The aforementioned are the engine of any functional society.

The fact that the above topic got over 200 likes is enough evidence that most people in this forum are ignorant, lack exposure and suffer from serious poverty of the mind! Hence why gibberish nonsense such as "I can't marry a woman who is more educated than me" or "can buy a house without informing my parents" head straight to the front page.

Abroad gives all the opportunity you need
My GP went back to school at the age of 40 to study medicine, now he is 51 and a medical doctor
I know over 10 Nigerians here in Ireland that has never studied before in Nigeria but got here and now working as a professional nurse, GP, Hairdressers, Mechanics, House building, and Software developer because of the opportunity here given them.
If you want to enjoy yourself abroad then be a professional.

I think what OP is trying to talk about is the PPP (Purchasing Power Parity).

In a lay man’s term, comparing currencies isn’t just as easy as the exchange rate. For example, you see people say they are better off in “Dubai” because they are earning 400k there. They are always quick to convert it to Naira and at that point it looks big to you that is earning 30k in Nigeria.

The big/important question is, what would 400k do for you in Dubai and what would it do for you in Nigeria?

How much is a bottle of coke there?
How much is a plate of rice?
How much is transport fare?
Etc...

If these things are not at equilibrium, then it is advisable you look WELL before you leap.

Don’t allow any agent to tell you, you would earn 400k in Azerbaijani. An educated mind should ask some questions, else you would soon realize 400k isn’t always 400k. If you know what I mean.

I got my SIA security license to work in the I’m 8 years pls never tell me what you don’t know about doing security jobs in London or anywhere . Also pls be serious if you saw 85 million Naira you won’t do something your kids would be impressed with. Where the hell is Lekki or banana island and can’t you ask yourself why on earth are houses over priced there before you go and buy an overpriced house there

Even if you managed to do it, don’t you think that itself would be a generational achievement that there dad is a landlord of Lekki or wherever you wanna stay since the price of properties there would always go up and up

Even people with less than 85 million changed their lives forever pls be rational for once

Yes, rent is costlier comparatively in the US than in Nigeria but that's just that. Every other thing is cheaper in the US.

You talk about being able to pack your 10 cars. In Nigeria if you're not living in a mansion, where will you park your 10 cars.

Tailors get paid per hr as a professional

These jobs are not there.. the only one i believe is medical in which case you go don suffer well well.

Nurses are horribly paid, tailor, hairdressers, mechanics in Ireland? Laughs.

Software yes, but just in Dublin.

All in abroad is hard, let's stop pretending.

How much do you save monthly, tell the truth?
