Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of shielding the Minister of Transport, Chibuike Amaechi, from prosecution for allegedly misappropriating proceeds from the sales of some the state assets.

The Governor said it was disingenuous for the Federal Government to commission the rehabilitation of a narrow gauge railway from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri at a time when the rest of the world was building a standard gauge railway.

Wike spoke during the inauguration of 6.1km long, 7.3m wide Omuihuechi-Omuoko-Omokiri link Road in Aluu Ikwerre Local Government Area on Wednesday.

The Governor said it was appalling that the Federal Government had continued to protect Amaechi from prosecution for his alleged inability to account for $308million from the sales of the state-owned power plant and other critical assets when he was Rivers Governor.

Wike noted such protection emboldened the Minister to consistently made efforts to undermine the state government by influencing postings of the Commissioner of Police and General Officer Commanding, the Nigerian Army to Rivers State.

I now see that the reason why the south will continue to remain slaves to the north is because we Southerners don't respect each other. Both Amechi and wike are thevies, so they should both keep shut and focus on defeating the common enemy come 2023. I see the south loosing out due to disunity. This I have seen.

Nyesom Wike and Rotimi Amaechi are birds of the same dark plumage.

Wike is currently saddened that his effort to scatter APC and keep Amaechi out of politics by using Magnus Abe failed.

I am neither Amaechi's nor Wike's fan, but the former has a big problem. While other polticians are working hard to improve the lives of their people, Amaechi is going the opposite direction.

The same man threatened to shut down the Maritime University in Delta State until Ibe Kachikwu intervened. He would prioritize and build standard projects in other regions, but leave his region begging for government's attention. Meanwhile, much of the resources used to run the country come from them.

Perhaps he is tired of elective positions because it will be interesting to see how he will win elections in his region with the way he's going.

If really Amechi controls police in rivers State then Wike is actually nothing but a piece of pussy when it comes to security in the state.
It means all the chest beating he has been doing is nothing but lips service.
