Good day ppl. I have some important questions.

I am done with studies but have not applied for my 18 months. However, we applied for reunion March last year, yet to get a date. From the look of things, it takes min 6 months for visa to be granted. Would this be an issue ? I mean, that I am done with school?

2. my wife has gained admission already and would be starting online classes with hope that she switches when she arrives to physical class. Is it wise to let either the Ausländerbehörde or the embassy to know about her plan to further studies when she arrives?

3. I plan on leaving germany at the Time she would be arriving, in a case where she’s needs to extend visa, can she be den recognize as a student or she would be asked to leave ?

Thanks for you input

You are only qualified for a re-union visa, if you have unbefristet Aufenthaltstitel. This is not your case.

Your 18 month visa is only valid for you to look for job so that you can qualify for the Blue Card/ employment visa.

You are not going to get the 18 month residence permit issued at once, They will split your 18 month into two.

It is not wise to start any reunion visa process but your wife might apply independently for a German student visa.

Students do bring their spouses. I have seen many, so, the unbefristet permit you Said that is the only Qualifikation to bring a spouse is not totally true.

I never said it is not possible for student not to bring their spouse, but definitely not under the disguise of family reunion. One of the requirement is the adult living in Germany being able to financially provide for the other adult coming to join. How can a student take care of a spouse? The student must have a long term perspective in Germany. Check the below link for more info..

some things you stated are not true like You are only qualified for a re-union visa, if you have unbefristet Aufenthaltstitel . Many students bring their spouse as long as they are still studying and they are usually required to block some money for their spouse and kids. I will not advise you to apply for 18 months yet. if your purpose is for you to bring your wife while still in Germany. then get another admission after studying your current program. during your wife interview, I would advise that your wife should tell them that she planned to also study in germany while being on family reunion.
Please if you plan to leave germany after your study. better dont stress your wife through all these german protocols cos the stress is not worth it. your dealing with people that are determined to ruin your peace of mind with their bureaucracy.

Until lately that Germany experiences a surge of Masters Students. The main purpose of a reunion visa is similar to the American fillings system. Hence, my first statement. Really, Reunion means that you have an indefinite stay and you can also file for a spouse. Other means do qualified to be called reunion although the word is wrongly used. A student bringing his or her partner to Germany with the same student visa is not reunion anything! But you gave the same advice, I was also trying to give.

Please House N/L . I really need a help because I’m confused. I went to the embassy September 2020 for my interview (marriage visa ) . After the interview I gave my passport to the man who interviewed me , he said if there is any other thing I would want to use the passport for and I said no ,so I gave him the passport plus the documents . Last week I got an email from the embassy that I should come and summit my passport and print out the mail which they sent to me. 1 . My passport would expire May , is the message indirecting telling me that I have to do a new passport . 2 . I’m I going for another interview because I don’t understand why they want me to come personally at the embassy?

I benefited from this thread a lot while trying to figure things out myself so, I decided I'd help with some info of my own.

I'm a software engineer and recently got an employment offer from a german company. I already knew the wait time for the appointment was insane so even before the interview process concluded, I was already looking for alternatives. I came across the fast track process for skilled workers during my search. https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/looking-for-foreign-professionals/targeted-recruitment/entering-working-in-germany/the-fast-track-procedure-for-skilled-workers/

Then when I got the employment offer, I informed the employer about the crazy wait times and the ability to fast track. Thankfully they were already aware of the fast track process so they were happy to go that route.

They requested that my degree certificate be certified and I did that at the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Abuja. After they had this and other documents (reference letter from past employers, passport data page, mawista health insurance), they applied for the pre-approval from their end. I can't say exactly how long this took because I don't know when they applied but, I sent the final document they needed on October 15, 2020. They also sent me a bunch of documents I had to sign and get back to them.

The company informed me they got the pre-approval on November 2, 2020 and I applied for an appointment same day using the WITH Approval link. I got a response for an appointment same day as well for November 20, 2020. Went for the appointment with all my documents and some extras that the company sent me to submit along.

At the appointment, I made a mistake by not photocopying the extra documents the company sent me. I assumed they'd take it as-is and tried to explain the company asked me to just submit this alongside the application. But the man that attended to me was very agitated by this because according to him, they're not "original documents" and I needed to have copies. It was all a lot of documents and making two copies of all made no sense to me (I didn't tell him this lol, I just stopped talking because he started saying I was arguing even though I was just trying to explain).

Long story short, I only gave him the documents I had copies for and he added those to a docket/file and gave me to take in. But I still went in with the other documents. At the appointment the lady asked questions about why you want to go, how you got the job, future plans etc. Then she specifically asked for a document which wasn't in the docket, she said if I had it, it would be an instant visa approval and she kept repeating the German name of the document. I looked for it in the documents the company sent and I found it thankfully, it was the Federal Employment Agency approval (not to be confused with Vorabzustimmung or the "pre-approval" ).

She also complained about me not having copies of that Federal Employment Agency approval document but she took it. I used the opportunity to submit some other documents the company sent that I thought would help, like university degree recognition stuff.

On November 25, I got the approval mail and was asked to submit health insurance plus travel dates. Submitted the documents by November 26. The consulate sent back my documents by December 2, 2020 but DHL delayed and I got it all by December 4, 2020.

Hi, I am in the same dilemna.. Didnt know of the ridiculous wait time and my contract is supposed to start next month.

I didn't study computer science in school too.... I got a software engineering job in Germany.. What's your advice for me?

Go there as requested by them. Let them know your passport is with them.

If they require you to provide a new Passport you will be informed. (Don't forget you need the old passport to renew.)

Be straight forward, no hanky panky and your Visa will be waiting for you.

Enjoy your stay in Germany...I did too.

Hello, my wife went to the embassy for her interview. She did not pay the verification fee and visa fee. However, she was told to go with her passport that if they need it, they will call her to bring it. She tried to tell the lady that she does not need it so she could leave it with them but the lady did not collect it. Could there be any reason for this?

However, all the documents were collected from here including the questionnaire for the family reunion.

@ damflo...can you walk us through your job applications journey?

Work visa process is easier in Dubai,

I applied for appointment and got a response that same day to come to the embassy 2 days later, but I had to postpone it to the following week because I was waiting for the physical copy of the Labour Office pre approval.

Visa interview was very straightforward and the officer was very friendly and helpful. Just a few questions. 3 working days later approval email, and 3 days later visa was collected. So everything took a week from Appointment Date. Landed in Germany a few days ago.

Hello all

I just got an offer from a company in Berlin and I need some advice about the work permit application process

1.) How do I certify my degree certificate in Lagos?
2.) What do I use as work experience letters if I cannot get references?

I'll really appreciate an answer from anyone who knows about work permits!

I think your application is already successful if you got this letter. They now need your passport to stamp your visa I guess.

Did your Husband get an invite too? If yes it is most likely a small interview to ask some more questions. They will still give you your visa

It is better you chill because they will not respond to you. Family reunion takes up to 6 months, sending emails to the embassy could translate to how desperate you want to go to Germany. Please, relax.

Relax baby girl they will call you . It's not late yet. If you can have patience for a yr plus before the interview while not now. The essence of this page is for us to learn from people's experiences. You have read about people who waited much longer and at Last it paid off.Don't give them the feeling that you're desperate. Yes I go it too but I am confused, why do they need us to come directly . They even wrote on my own that I should bring my new passport and the email photocopy
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by MarvinAjereh01: 9:40pm On Mar 13, 2021
After the embassy said I should come and take my old passport and do a new one , I went and took it and straight to immigration office , so I met an immigration officer, who charged 50 thousand naira for new passport, I gave him 30 thousand because I wasn’t with the complete documents need for the new passport, moreover my intention was to ask him some questions, if I can do the passport here in Lagos because the old one was done in Abuja and he said yes . So after paying 30 thousand naira I went back home and came back the next day with the documents he listed that I should bring . I gave him the balance of 20 thousand naira , do you know that the so called immigration Headquarters in Abuja didn’t active my old international passport , it was displaying no information found . I was really shocked . So I asked him what’s the next step because it’s two ways , either he would request for more money or I travel to Abuja , so he said It can be done here that we need to meet another immigration officer who would write to the Immigration Headquarters in Abuja, so I have to give him 5 thousand naira , I transferred it to him , make it 55 thousand naira now . So we went together into the other immigration officer office and he said I just give him the photo copy of my passport and I need , I followed the other immigration officer outside and he said I should call him on Monday at 10 am . Nigeria is a dead nation .
