Dangote has turned himself to a very sadistic capitalist.

Man is ready to impoverish the whole of Nigeria if it will give him more money.

Just like Bill Gates that is ready to infect the world with a deadly virus so he can sell vaccine.

BUA CEO was accusing him the other day of being the reason that cement is still expensive in the country. He wouldn't allow govt throw the sector open to numerous investors.

Now he's building refinery and he is already suggesting that only those with refinery license should be allowed to import fuel so that he can tighten the sector and sell a litre at #500.

The next Southern president should stop that man. Especially the cement industry. It should be thrown open to all interested investors.
since dangote is the reason why cement is still selling at high cost in Nigeria why can't BUA you mention in your comment sale cement at lower price so that we Nigerians can start buying from his company.

Difrent and hachenoir. React to this constructively. You can link this to Jeff bezoz since u claim they are related.

I'm also of the opinion Dangote has undue advantage over competition as alleged in the report. Not good for the economy. I wonder if another investor will get the kind of support the Nigeria govt is giving to his refinery via CBN. (Even when the Nigerian owned refineries are left to rot and new ones not in the cards.) He also got this in cement when some other investors were shut out. In tomatoes, he called for total ban of imports when he started production.

Everything mustn't be skewed for him to thrive.

And you think it's the USA that should be telling us that?
Rockefeller, rotschilds , Ford's....all these families made generational wealth due to favouritism of america government. The same America that house apple ,facebook and google (the big 3) these companies KILL competition with the connivance of the American government....have you ever wondered why the big 3 are always having problems in europe and Asia ? It's because europeans and asians see them as threats to their own tech companies and have to restrict their use and in some case like france tax them heavily ,while american government is only concerned about privacy issues with the tech companies .
The same person you are accusing here doesn't control the petroleum industry where the big money is I would be bothered if he owned She'll or Chevron.... even as commodities merchant , he don't control noodles , pasta, milk, and is not even visible in the poultry industry with minimal show in agriculture. There's no business he does that others are not doing but like everywhere there must be leaders and him being an industry leader in cement is just as it should be , if not Dangote it could be someone else......or is the opposition just because he happens to be a northerner . Addicted to monopoly,

we shouldn't look further for what factors that made Nigeria a rag economy

hiper inflation, soaring dollar, trade deficit, forex challenges

Only in Nigeria will a whole nation's GDP depends on one person and we're forced to ask how he manage to acquire such powers

Do you know how many times Facebook has been slapped with Anti-trust laws. Mark is on his toes, he looks either way 7 times before he crosses the road. You can’t be engaging in predatory business practices that would kill off your competitors fairly, it is bad for the economy.

You are talking pure nonsense, how many people is Dangote industries employing in the whole of Nigeria, the figure is far less than 35,000 with its mass scale of operations, plus they pay the most deplorable salaries which is a factor in promoting poverty.

If Dangote allowed his competitors to strive with using underhand political tactics to destroy them do you know how many more jobs there would be X10 (Yes i said it; times 10).

Get all facts and knowledge and stop defending what should be frowned at

The worst report I have read in years. If a business prevents your country from importing useless good, how can that be a bad business. If a business tries to monopolise whose fault is that? That’s what every business does, they try to monopolise if there are no strong competitor. Even in US there are monopolies in businesses. In U.K. they have to enact anti-competition laws to prevent monopolies. A business cannot be said to be bad just because it tries to monopolise. It is the duty of government to create fair competition rules. Did DSTV not monopolise Nigerian market. Ditto MTN etc. The duty of government regulators is to make rules for fair competition and monitor the business.
This is bad belly reporting. And why would US be happy with any African that is trying to stop foreign products dumping?

Dangote businesses are not harmful to Nigeria, he is creating jobs, producing quality products and contributing to national GDP

Maybe harmful to US interests because some of the stuffs he produces can't be imported into Nigeria but why should Nigeria care about that?

Everyone should care about their own country first according to a certain Donald Trump
He is a greedy businessman.
Wait till he finishes the refinery, fuel price might go above #250 per litre.
Even the workers that will work in his refinery will be paid similar amount as his cement workers, those currently there can confirm this. You will be working just to feed yourself.

I pray he doesn't run down the oil n gas sector with his affinity for money at the expense of the masses

When Dangote started selling cement for between 800 to 1000 naira some years back only few people saw what he was planning. Eagle cement and other cement companies made loses upon loses for that singular move.

Now see where we are, cement is now over 4 thousand naira in some areas in Nigeria.

Dangote is a blood sapping capitalist.

The Bible says time and chance happens to us all.
I guess this means that at some point in our lives we will all get an opportunity for a breakthrough.

Now, imagine if you are to run 100m race with Usain Bolt and he is made to start half way ahead of you, even with a Ferrari would you call that fairness, equity and a good race?

There is a potential dangote in every state. Hardworking, industrious, innovative and ambitious.
But the fact is that only the one from Kano has been given the head start with a Ferrari, while thorns and lions have been put in the way of others. While a few others (whether we admit it or not there are several other billionaires in dollars in this country by loot or by crook or by business) are given scooter, and the vast majority are the ones faced with the thorns and lions.

I'm open to fact finding and correction but over time since Obj's government this has been my view of Dangote- a privileged monopolist, playing politics of business and economics.

Mind you a true business man focuses on business and a politician on good governance.
In many countries these 2 people don't mix. In many more countries these 2 people are hands and gloves. The government provide policies and environment for the businessman to thrive, and the business man sponsors the politician's campaign and help stash his loot as his business front.

What a life.............. undecided
And people want to be like Dangote?

You have missed the whole essence of the report.

This is not about one man controlling the country, but the strategy of that one man controlling the country.

Dangote's business strategy together with his connection with every government since 2003 has helped him become a billionaire at the expense of the economy.

The United States favors every business equally. At least, they try to do.

But in Nigeria, Dangote enjoys clear favoritism, from getting dollars at extremely very cheap rate to getting access to ship outside even while the borders stayed officially closed.

When you ban tomato importation so that one man can launch his product, you are not helping the economy grow. You are just helping one man.

Presently, Dangote controls over 60% of the cement market not because he is a good businessman, but because of the connection with successive governments beginning with Obasanjo in 2003 when Obasanjo had a fallout with Atiku.

Dangote, extremely dangerous. Everything about him is on another level. People working to build his refinery are being treated inhumanely. Made almost all unautomated job task, apart from loading cements and driving trucks, contract jobs and gave them to bestial contractors. He is the king of monopoly which has to be broken for a free economy but does our government care?

You're right to some extent but the harm Dangote is causing is that he's monopolizing the economy with the help of the lopsided policies of the govt.

Remember how much local rice was sold for when all boarders were closed? It became far more expensive than foreign rice despite it being below standard.

That's the effect of monopoly. Imagine we have a healthy competition in all the sector of the economy, I bet you that a bag of cement would crash within the shortest time possible, same way as it happened with the telecoms
