25 ongoing, but dangotes is d largest by far, he will dominate by more that 85% of d market share.
after p.i.b NNPC should be privatised and the 4 refinery should battle him too they have advantage of been in the business for 50 years plus 450 retail station and 2000 trucks ...like wise B.A..U ...other money bags will come on

oil and gas is not pure water business ...if the importer now about 30 of them.want to hike price they will do , like wise filling stations

It is not like that. It will be Dangote vs Importers, the outcome will far better than only Dangote.

Again, these are the rants of a man that reads only the headings and headlines. It's a very dangerous practice my man.

USA has nothing to lose or even gain if you build refineries.

Wise words.
The USA doesn't care about Nigeria except insofar as they would prefer Nigeria to remain stable so it doesn't release a destabilising flood of 100 million (or whatever number we are) refugees all over west Africa and Africa as a whole (not that they would even care very much if that happened).

Doesn't change d proportions, dangote will still dominate by far. Rather, let's privatise first to people not related to Dangote and maybe later p.i.b

So why is dangote afraid? Why are they pursuing regulations that will allow only refinery owners import refined petroleum?

That he is 63 doesn't change anything, it is not about him. It is about one entity controlling our economy, not acceptable.

what foresight? Nigerians like over praising America ...the covid pandemic has expose them as propagandist ,the parliament invasion why didn't they use the foresight here ......when pmb went to America trump told him he should ensure we buy wheath for our mill for America ....while we have a large wheat belt in kura kano that can serve the whole of west africa if mechanized.....the back ward integration proposals by dangote if implemented by yardua in 2007 it would have forced the like of total, mobil to have completed their refinary in Nigeria instead the prefer this usless arrangements where we have spent 13 bn usd importing ever year from American refineries ...
The foresight they used in building their country to the extent that we see being in their country as "God picking our call". cheesy

You people make it sound like anyone was going to stop us if we truly wanted to build our country.

Lol, some people are still holding very outdated beliefs.

Yes, in the distant past the west manipulated us to limit our potentials. But, that era is long gone.

In todays world, nobody gives a Bleep if we go d path of self-development. In fact, it is beneficial to them as it will limit d huge immigration problems they currently face.

So because Corona killed less Nigerians than Americans, does that mean Nigeria fights the disease better than America?

@ahiboilandgas, thanks for educating ositadima1 on this issue. I don't really know how to argue with people, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, we all want the best for Nigeria.

We should also understand that oil and gas with new refineries are not the only sector that can improve our economy. There are several sectors that are yet to be tapped into, particularly agriculture and metalic minerals like, gold, silver, tin, copper, lead, zinc, iron, nickel, chromium and aluminum.

Nigeria could earn more billions of dollars from these metalic minerals if we can harness them judiciously.
