Bro, an empire is not a good thing. Empire means that some people went somewhere to take over other people lands, and it is usually done by war and force. Igbos are not empire builders, they never needed it, they are a highly decentralized and confederate people.

Igbos were admired and held in envy across West Africa because many were in awe of their ability to form cohesive and disciplined groups to immefiately in ingluence their environments.
In fact, at particular points in time the Igbo Union was one of the most powerful societies In Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria and the Cameroons.

It wasn't magic or juju as some particularly envious elements concluded, it was literally how their societies ran.
