Wonderful feat you have achieved. Please can you give the house a break down of the herbs and spice used and the chart. What herbs were mixed for what disease, dosage and number of days administered |

Youngext:good evening sir, please help me with herbs to combat a poultry disease outbreak in my small broiler's farm. 10 of them are not eating at all and are always sleepy, their faeces are watering and greenish. I was suspecting Newcastle disease, please help a brother, am currently broke and can't afford to buy medications. |
| Re: My Poultry Farming Experience! by Youngext(op): 10:13pm On Oct 13, 2020 |
unity004:Hmm, since there is already and outbreak, and you don't know about herbs, your best bet is to treat it synthetically, go to any vet and get the needed drugs, Act fast before you loose your flock |

I also want to go into poultry farming, but I’ll love to start with 20 birds just to test the waters, how much should I budget for this?? |

blackman007:Agrited DOC: half carton (25 chicks) @ 1,350 each: 33,750 Brooding meds: (1 pkt each of coccidiostat, glucose, antibiotics and multivitamin): 8,500 Feed for 6 weeks: 4.2kg X 25 = 105kg. Divide by number of kg per bag (which is 25kg), and you have roughly 4 bags (N97,500) a) New hope feed for 2 weeks: One bag at N27,000. b) Topfeed (proline): 3 bags @ 23,500: 70,500. You can augment with 1 or 2 mudus of Ultima if not enough. Wood shavings for litter: 1 bag @ 1,500. I assume you already have drinkers and feeders. If you don't, then - Chick feeder (2 nos) = 2,200 each = 4,400, then adult feeders (metallic) @ 700 each x 3 nos = 2,100. Total of N6,500 - 3 drinkers @ 1,000 each: total of N3,000 - Charcoal for heating: half bag: 4,500 - Charcoal pots: 3,500 X 2 = 7,000 Lysol insecticide for foot disinfection: 3,000 for 1 litre TOTAL COST: N123,000 Selling price assuming 20% mortality (5 dead out of 25): = 20 nos @ 8,000 - 10,000 = N160,000 - N200,000 Profit: N40,000 Based on your lessons and outcomes, you can scale up. I assume you already have a place to keep them. |
