.
can you cancel after 5mins of arrival without driving to the PU and not get penelized?

You will get penalized if reported, cause they can check your location.
Try not cancel at all, make riders cancel. like I said its more of human relation, but you will learn on the job.
Also get a mobile number of an active driver, you might need to quickly get in touch when confused in certain situations.

I don't think this is true. I've had a rider send me an in app message that went like this "I'll so report you and make them block you for arriving without coming to my location"

That was during the December rush when I was blowing empty to a place I saw thick surge and her useless trip came in.

Nothing eventually came out of her report or maybe she eventually did not.

I wish I have your patience but I don't. Eventually, I know I'm going to get to a tipping point so before it gets to that, I allow you leave the vehicle.

Funny thing is, most of them are very happy to come down from the vehicle. One told me she can't be paying me and still be begging me to carry her. grin

Patience is the key when dealing with customers and especially dealing with women. (extra extra with younger ladies/ olosh/ sharp mouth)
I took a lil girl (uni) recently and she said she was F#*kn high on weed that i should loud music, do dis do dt... i just seat back and relaxed cos, if she hadn't told me and she talking like dt i would have felt bad. but I was just laughing and pampering her till we got to destination. and then she dropped off putting a smile on my face. someone else would have been fighting her not knowing she high.
when i see guys dragging with ladies i just shake my head.

As far as I know (I might be wrong), a rider or driver can only report a trip ONLY if the trip took place. If the trip didn't happen, then you'll just be seeing articles on how to report trips when you click on it.

Same thing happened to me same December rush too. I was at OkunAjah junction and a trip came in from Atican Beach to Addo road in the evening and there was heavy traffic. Told them (a guy and some girls I think) to cancel and they said they wouldn't that I should. I said ok I would and I arrived. They called again and started shouting that why would I arrive and that they were going to report me and Bolt would block me blah blah blah. I was just laughing at them and wasting their airtime.

Bottom line, nothing would happen (for now) as far as the trip was not started.

Exactly. All drivers need to know this. Once trip doesn't happen, rider has no say about you. Short and simple!

I heard it before don't know if it has happened to anybody here. just play safe.
I've picked one of the bolt staff before , the fair fine lady, we even stopped by their office before taking her home. imagine if i had canceled on her without going to location.

what happens in uber when you cancel after 5mins of waiting and uber pays you for cancelation fee,
and later deduct it by saying rider reported that you weren't visible and was looking for you ?
trip didnt happen but yet reported and uber acted.

what I know is that rider cant rate you when a trip didnt happen, but they can report you once you accept a trip.

You think Bolt are not aware of the challenges of driving within Lagos, reason why they left the various escape points....

Bolt can't be blocking accounts for such frivolous stuff, because it happens everytime.

You know they will also lose too. Imagine blocking 100 accounts that gives them minimimum 10, 000 weekly. That's a quick loss of 4,000,000 in a month. Cos of trivial stuff like arrived now & canceling. Not fraud, physical assault of riders or endangering riders.

As long as you don't cross thresholds programmed into the app, a single employee of Bolt can't unilaterally touch you.

No I'm not saying they will block him cos of cancelation, but they can know if he drives to location or lied.
I believe bolt doesn't contact drivers every time a report is made, I feel they have a threshold too and that's why they say a lot of complaint about you. meaning several reports before they warn you. Even if your AC is not working well they will get the report from more than one rider before they act.

Is it the employee that blocks you for 24hrs or its the app that automatically blocks you?

Boss, yes you can, but is not advisable. If 2 or more rider report you, you can get blocked. If riders don't report you, Bolt may not ignore excess of it, because they know you don't arrive. In fact, do not try that on uber app. With Bolt, anything is possible, reason most drivers do this. If the km is not much and you don't want to go on such trip, try and get to pick up, wait 5mnt and cancel. If km is much, try and wait a while for rider to cancel or talk to rider to cancel. If not.... grin. Avoid excess cherry-pick, bolt have lots of customer, such that you will surely get good trips, even from 1 useless short trips. On Bolt, you can even get trips if you park on 3mb. Best of God bro.

If you drive your own vehicle, it is not that bad.

My family has been surviving strictly on bolt for the past 5 months and trust me, that's a whole lot of expenses bolt is taking care of.

I have to admit though, there's nothing as sweet as surge trips. Especially any above 1.7

I don't expect that kind of response from Bolt , they will expect driver to come PU point at 25 minutes away which can even be more than 30 minutes on GMap

once i notice this i will just go mute and pretend as if you not talking to me, see it works like fire.
they will just rant and rant and get tired. some of them will even apologize or try to make up before the drop.
some will even be saying why are you not talking again and bla bla... na jazebel dey wan ruin your day.
my ratings on uber has been constant 4.92
bolt just dropped from 4.88 to 4.82 and then back to 4.89
I will never go confrontational with any rider, I'm here for the money and not fight.
if you like call me your driver and all it will only last for the duration of trip, once i drop you, its over, its not written on my head.

I once shared how a lady abuse and insult me until her friend asked her to stop that its enough, she later gave me extra money and wants me to come back for them. if I had walked them out , i would have messed up my own day and probably go home.
But when rendering services like this, 15yrs old customer can talk to you anyhow no seniority in this biz.
Great attitude you got bro.

But remember, we are not created the same way, just like we have:

Tall= short

Fat= thin/slender

Lightskin= darkskin

We also have:

Generous= stingy

Aggressive= cool headed

Straightforward character= dubious character

...

We are just different humans, what you tolerate might not be acceptable to another, VICE VERSA.
