It appears you are conflicting indigenship with citizenship. This is not a legal opinion, expiration of passport does not invalidate your citizenship. Passport is an identification tag for international travel purposes.

Passport has validity for a reason.. Example i fraudulently acquire Swedish citizenship, the government found out fraud and withdrew the citizenship..if i claim i lost the passport and dot gove it back.. I can use it to impersonate as a Swedish citizens even in business, fraud, scam etc.. Now the validity period is a lso check and balance for tve passport holder that after a certain the government will be able to review through renewal if the right people are in possession of their passports.. So u see the validity refuces even they amount of time i can parade my self a swdisch citizen.. Because i will have to go back and renew.. 1st world has used technology to cover this but in 3rd world like our that is the reason u renew so frequently if u dont know. Know it now..

You are confusing urself.. I am talking about obi case not general. U r saying i am a Nigerian citizen by presenting my expired passport.. It is expired, if i say i am not a citizen of Nigeria dont forget tge burden of proof still lies with u to prove i am a Nigerian.. Maybe you don't know much about citizenship. It can either been renounced, withdrawn. Whichever way. It has to be official. Documented. Expired passport only means restricting one of using the said passport at that particular time. He or she is still the citizen of said country.

No u can't.. My own very experience port of departture or connecting flight port u r asked for documentation that allows u entrance to the destination.. Even if it is ur home countrzy u have to prove it and that done through documents visa, resident permit or passport.. If expired an accompaning letter from relevant authorities... Go and verify...
