A 17-year-old girl identified as Aisha living in Albarkawa area in Gusau metropolis in Zamfara state on Sunday August 8, set her self ablaze owing to her fiance’s inability to marry her due to his poor finances. Aisha’s neighbour told Daily Trust that she decided to commit suicide after she learnt that her fiance who dated her for quite a long time has no money to pay for dowry in preparation for her wedding.

He said her lover called Umar was asked by her parent to present himself to her family for the marital engagement but the young man told her parent that he was not financially well off to pay for the N17,000 as dowry demanded by the father of the girl.

“She brought a gallon of petrol and a matchbox. She got her self drenched in the petrol and struck a match stick and within a second she got engulfed in flames.Even before setting her self ablaze, her younger sister had tried hard to stop her from taking the dangerous decision by flinging the matchbox from her hand as any time she attempted to strike the matches the younger sister would stop her until when she became tired of stopping and went away.”

this man call prof.. u sit in lagos or in the south west or wherever without knowing the rality of what is happening in the North... where u not around when churches were destroyed in jigawam kano, and even part sokoto where a church of over 35yrs was hindederd to erect a fence talk more of rebuilding the church? do you know that in the North most churches are denied Cof O's without any justifiable reason. yet we live in a country where our constitution says there is freedom of worship.pls look wholistically and speak out.he that must come to equity must come with a clean hand...... remove the speck from ur eyes before going further

finally i repeat it is criminality and trampling of someone fundamental human right of freedom of worship to block or destroy one's place of worship.i condermn such activities and i wont be part of it

i would not want CAN to say anything on this matter... until it ascertain what the matter truly is.CAN should be reminded of Joseph, etc what a woman can do. we should not join the world to condemn our own rather we should follow he step of Jesus in resolving such issues,.let the world judge and let the church also judge wisely.....

Can you imagine the burden she carried for all this years? the burden of Unforgiveness. she took the baggage into her matrimonial home and at the end dragged a respectable music icon into this past issues.. well the are one now but i wish he cautioned her on the danger it would cause to her family and children... in the nearest future
