Prostitution is BAD no doubt . What makes you think she is not good for marriage? What will happen to the innocent lady who will end up marrying you after you've slept with virtually all the prostitutes in Nigeria?

Hello everyone! I trust we all had a fruitful day. Congratulations to those who have been signed and goodluck to those still hoping for signup.
This is my latest update. I went for the oral interview/micro teaching today and to the glory of God I was successful and selected. The pay is btw 40k and 50k. Honestly I am so happy today because getting this job really means a lot to me. I've been idle at home for some months because I and my family relocated and I had to resign from my previous job. This present school is very close to me and I believe the working condition and environment are good. Thanks to you all for the encouragement though you have no idea of what I mean. I almost gave up this noble profession to pursue other business that will definitely make my pocket heavy and I'll also be a boss of my own.
I have no regret being a teacher! Its who I am, an educator! I love children and imparting knowledge while I also learn along. I am passionate about this profession and one day I'm sure I'll make it to the zenith of it or who knows? I might be a proprietress tomorrow.
Please while we all pray and hope for the best schools around; the purpose and objective of this profession should be at heart.
Thanks and goodluck to you all.

You just hit a goldmine......many would give out their left arm to be in your shoes.
Listen real carefully. It is a new terrain for you but as a teacher you should be able to handle it. Upon completion of IGCSE, stay there for at least 2yrs, the school may even want to upgrade your salary because by that time you are a hot cake.
After tutoring for two years, please target top rated schools within and outside Nigeria.... Any school that cannot include pension, NHIS, overtime, 13th month salary and inconvenience allowance in your welfare package of 350k borne them because what you are about to pass through is what will make way for you. I wish I had the same opportunity..
Many thanks to the op for this informative, educative and entertaining thread.
C'mon now bro Sunnypar! What shall it profit thee to give a sister heart-attack? Wait.... you really mean all that package comes with being IGCSE certified? Pls is there any other way besides working in a school that offers IGCSE? Can't I just wake up one beautiful morning and decide to get the certificate as an individual. *at this juncture i'm tempted to use pidgin* oga abeg tell me everything wey dey involve!!! Chineke meeeeee

Hello everyone! Happy new month to us!
This is my latest update after the episode where my kids disrupted my test in a school. On a second thought I decided not to visit the school as they didn't call me as promised and I know their reason. I submitted my cv to two other schools though I'm yet to hear from them.
Last friday, I got a call from the secretary/accountant at Binta Int'l School *the call was a follow up with regards to my enquiry about enrolling my kids* I used the opportunity to let her know I submitted my cv but have not heard from them. She asked me come around the next day, I did and to my shock the recipients of my application both at the Primary and Secondary levels didn't submit to the authority. Long story short, I submitted another application though at the Primary because there is no vacancy at the Secondary. Yesterday morning, there was a knock at my door and it was their messenger asking me visit the school ASAP that my number has not been available since friday *seriously?* .
I went over and was asked to prepare for test which takes place at the ajao estate annex. I did the test today and I'm convinced I nailed it *the test wasn't beans ooo felt like jamb, lol* I've related my movement to the ejigbo head of school and I'm scheduled for micro teaching/oral interview tomorrow.
Guys wish me luck and do drop any information regarding their salary structure/welfare. This school is ideal for me because its very close besides I and hubby have already decided the kids will resume school there.
Thanks to you all and please whenever you see my monicker, be ready to read an epistle. Hahahahahaha you guys are wonderful.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! I trust you all are having a blessed day. Please can anyone here give me information about Garland School, Ejigbo? I also submitted my cv at one Voscan Montessori School *the secondary level* directly to the proprietress. She asked me some questions with regards to my area of specialization and experience. She promised to invite me for a test. Does anyone know about this school Voscan in ejigbo? Thanks

@Praise5,

Pele, if you didn't finish the test, kindly go back tomorrow and ask if you can retake the test.

Same thing happened to me today.
My baby was just disturbing me, tearing my script, I became tired. Mine is, I don't even have where to keep him.

I'm looking for kereje school around my area that has creche and that won't give me headache.

I went to another school, with just my CV, she accepted me without test.

Abeg, ask me how much be the salary
Tell me you were joking about the part of baby tearing your script! Chisos! My own case was even better, hahahaha. Abeg how much be the salary? Hope it can cover your transportation and feeding? Hehehehehe meanwhile, define "kereje" lol

My dear, do not feel bad with yourself. As a nursing mother I know how you feel but do not blame the kids nor hate yourself. If the job is for you, you will get it. I would advice that anytime you want to do CV runs make arrangements for your kids. Even if it is for an hour. Going about with the kids is stressful and would make them cranky; it also makes you look unprepared. But don't worry another opportunity will come and it will not be impromptu. Best wishes.
Thanks for the advice and wishes. I really appreciate you all for cheering me up.

MacJC:
Right now u are so down emotionally that it be callous of me 2 add 2 ur sorrow, so I'll try 2 be as "gentle" as possible.

1. What happened 2day was NEITHER ur children's fault NOR d school's fault. Truth be told, I agree with u, it's an ABBERATION 4 ur potential employer 2 ask u 2 do a written test+micro teaching on d same day u submit ur application letter. It's outside d norm. Under normal circumstances we know u SUBMIT ur papers FIRST, while they peruse it and call u (if shortlisted) 4 test/interview at a later date. Probably they were forced 2 do so because dy were behind schedule.
The onus ld on u 2 gently TURN DOWN their request, giving them sincere/genuine reason(s) why d test shld be postponed:
(a) u were not prepared at that point in time because of ur children.
(b) u had other plans lined out 4 today etc.

These are all genuine reasons which a reasonable employer-to-be shld favorably consider!

I blv u "gaulked" it because of ur desperation 4 a job! You felt helpless, I sincerely understand ur plight!

2. Since u didn't complete d test (or did u?), there's no point waiting 4 them o! IMOO, they were just trying 2 be POLITE by giving u d usual cliché: "we'll get back 2 u". If u had completed d test, then it's a different ball game, but in ds case, no foundation/bases 4 dm 2 recall u. It's a VERY VAGUE promise. "Come back so and so date" would've been more soothing/reassuring.

3. WHAT 2 DO ?
Go back 2 dm ASAP tomorrow/next tmr (at d most), apologize and tell dm u are now ready! If they still need ur services (which I blv they do, hence their hastiness), they'll allow u 2 do it IMMEDIATELY or they'll give u a DEFINITE DATE 4 d rescheduled interview!

4. Like u said earlier, what's urs will be urs. Always look @ d brighter side of every circumstances.

"To EVERY adversity is an EQUAL OR GREATER BENEFIT"
........ Napoleon Hill..............

Good Luck!
Thanks for taking out time to read my post and give a detailed response. Honestly, I wasn't expecting the test but I did write something though I know its below average due to my unreadiness and lack of concentration cos of the kids. I'll definitely go back to the school. Thanks

Well, I tot I shud stop bin an onlooker and contribute for once to dis immensely valuable thread of which I av always bin an ardent follower. I just took a stroll 2 weeks back to drop my CV in a couple of schools around my area. I was only able to drop in 2 schools as it was already the near the close of day when I set out. Next day, I got a call from 1 of the 2 schools(Gladys High School) to come and take a written test the following day. I was applying for a maths teacher position and the test was a particular waec maths(obj&theory) paper. Time was 2hrs. God helped me sha n I breezed through it. I took d test on friday n gt called to come for micro teaching on monday. On gettin dia I caught a glimpse of ma script and saw I scored 85percent. I got excited and started tinkin abt my negotiating tactics for a good bargain pay. I did the micro teaching and it was great. I took plane shapes and solid shapes and the interviewer dragged me to number bases and grilled me. I came out unscathed, got the kids laughing as I made d class lively and fun and got unsolicited rounds of applause from the students when I finished. I knew I nailed the job already. At the negotiation table,it turned out the school can't afford to pay high salaries sha. I asked for 50k and they pleaded that I take up the offer at 40k which was well out of their salary structure. I accepted and they pleaded a non-disclosure of the salary information to any1. Lesson: take out n move around your neighbourhood. What you are looking for in Sokoto might just be around the corner for the taking inside yourr "Shokoto". I just want to make sense *in ben murray bruce's voice*
Wow! That's brilliant, congratulations.

Always make arrangements on where to keep ur kids when going for a job hunt. U can't go with kids for a test or interview especially if they're more dan one. Did you get there contacts? I suggest u call them if you haven't heard from them after a week. If not, u might also consider visiting them again. Goodluck.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions. I think what prompted this mistake was the silly idea in my head that schools won't just collect application from you and test will follow immediately. I thought it will be the usual dropping of cv and leaving at once, which the kids won't obstruct. Lesson learnt: be prepared for anything so you won't be taken unaware. This incident took place today, if I don't hear from them between now and tomorrow then I'll brace up and visit again.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Strictly For Those Interested In Teaching Jobs by Praise5: 2:22pm On Aug 26, 2015
I don't want to say that today is messed with regards to my job search but honestly, I feel discouraged. I've been applying for job in schools in my neighbourhood since last week. Some said there are no vacancies while others simply collected my cv with the usual "we'll get back to you". Today I visited another school, the routine has been the same. I'll park my car anywhere around and my kids will wait inside for me; this takes just few minutes. Note: they are not attending summer lessons because we travelled earlier when lesson started.
There was enough space in front of today's school and I parked there as instructed by the gateman. I went in, was told that test held last week but there seem to be vacancy left. After few questions by a three-man panel, I was sent to see the Principal at the secondary annex. While leaving I was advised not to leave my kids outside, so they came into the reception including my 7mths old baby. After a short interview and waiting for LONG over there, i started my written test. Because of the elapsed time while waiting, I got uncomfortable and worried about my kids esp the breastfeeding one. I was still writing when a staff was sent to call my attention that my kids were crying and disturbing. I lost concentration immediately and they said I should go and attend to them that they will get back to me. I have never been this angry with myself for long. I'm sitting here blaming the kids and myself. If I had known a test will be conducted immediately, I would have arranged for them to stay with a relative or friend. Do you people think they will call me back? Sorry for the long story
