How can your carbon-3 carry 3hydrogens when you already have other attached bonds? And carbon 2&5 also has extra bond. Carbon can only carry 4 bonds. This compound is wrong.

Now go to the 5th chain you named 5. Look at the number of carbon and hydrogen atoms there count it and see if it should be hept... Or something else.

I'm actually caught up between hept or hexa.

If we separate the top C2H5 into CH2CH3, the longest chain becomes hept but if left as ethyl it becomes hexa.

That's where I'm really confused.
