A week ago, I received a surprise invitation from an unexpected source. The Comrade Governor, Adams Oshiomhole was remarrying after the unfortunate demise of his first wife, Clara and he was personally inviting me to attend the ceremony. I deliberately consulted with a lot of people and was frankly not surprised at the varied responses I got. While many warned me not to go near there, others cautioned that it was a trap that could bring political embarrassment. The diplomats proffered a middle of the road approach, which was; don’t attend but send a high powered delegation. A few however saw it as a personal event and advised that I should go.

I thank those I consulted because the bible declares that in the multitude of counsel, there is safety. I just returned from the wedding and I’m glad I went. Why did I go? Why shouldn't I have gone? The governor himself invited me. People seem to forget that I’m first a pastor before being a politician. What example do I send if my politics like others is characterized with hatred, enmity and bitterness. The book of ecclesiastics talks about times and seasons. There is a time for politics, the contestation for power, and there is a time for peace, the consolidation of governance. We have fought bitterly, an election for power and the war for now is over. It is now time again to make peace. The Comrade Governor could not marry in the time of war, so he waited for the war to end. We thank God that the war did not escalate and we appreciate the combatants, their armies and indeed the Nigeria people for the return to normalcy. I thank the Comrade Governor for the civility in inviting me, in spite of our known political differences and I sincerely pray that God will bless his marriage.

I congratulate his beautiful wife and hope she will be able to manage him, the way Comrade Clara, our charming, prayerful and humble late first lady did.

Am I thinking of going back to the APC? No! No! No! I have moved on and I have no regret. I wish the Comrade Governor joy in his new marriage and to Edo people, I say The Future Is bright!

Are you guys forgetting that he is not the president yet and non of the privileges attached to the president's office can be full accorded to him until may 29th when he will be sworn in as president, so general Buhari is a common citizen like me and you, so he is bound by law to obey traffic rules.

The Ondo State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi.

The Monday plenary session was attended by 24 out of the 26 members of the House, including the Speaker, all in support of the impeachment.

The impeachment motion was moved by the Majority Leader, Henry Akinsoyinu, who revealed that the seven impeachable offences of gross misconduct and abuse of office levelled against the Deputy Governor have been proved.

The motion was seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader, Oyebo Aladetan.

The Seven man panel of investigation set up by by the State Chief‎ Judge, Olasehinde Kumuyi, chaired by Olatunji Adeniyan had earlier in the morning submitted its report to the House.

The Speaker of the House, Jumoke Akindele, adopted the motion and declared the Deputy Governor impeached and removed from office.

She gave a directive that all the government property in possession of the Deputy Governor be handed over to the Permanent Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor.

Meanwhile, two members of the House belonging to the opposition party, APC, Gbenga Edema and Fola Olasehinde, were absent at the sitting

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said he was the most criticised President in the whole world and vowed to become the most praised before he left office.

Jonathan however absolved himself of any blame for the country’s problems for which he said he had become an object of criticism.

“I think I am the most criticised President in the whole world, but I want to tell this audience that before I leave I will be the most praised President,” he said at the opening of the 52nd Annual General of the Nigerian Bar Association at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
