Politics › Tinubu Installs Solar Panels In Aso Rock, Leaves Nigerians In Darkness(video ) by Prestar(op): 9:02pm On Apr 28 |
A video circulating online has shown Nigeria's seat of power, Aso Rock Villa, packed with installed solar panels following the disconnection from the national grid.
NewsRegion recalls that in 2025, President Tinubu-led federal government announced its intention to take the villa off the national grid due to the rising cost of power bills.
Following the announcement, many Nigerians lashed out at the government, saying that the decision shows that Tinubu has no intention to improve the electricity situation in the country
Reacting to the backlash, Mustapha Abdulahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, said it is unsustainable for the Aso Rock Villa to continue to pay about ₦47 billion yearly in power bills.
Abdulahi added that it was for the above reason that President Bola Tinubu approved ₦10 billion for the solar power grid to power the presidential villa.
Speaking with journalists, he said the decision aligns with the President’s agenda to diversify energy sources and also cut the cost of governance
Abdulahi stated that the solar panel installation will bring uninterrupted and clean energy, create jobs, foster innovation among Nigerian engineers and energy experts.
He also pointed out that it would ultimately reduce pressure on the national grid.
The Director General further disclosed that some of the innovations of the federal government have resulted in partnerships, resulting in $5.3 billion of investment earmarked for grid expansion measures.
The adoption of solar panels at Aso Rock Presidential Villa highlights a painful contrast in the country, while the seat of power enjoys uninterrupted light, millions of Nigerians still live without reliable electricity.

Sahabi Liman allegedly cheats on the daughter of the Minister of Defence weeks after their lavish wedding Social media has been thrown into a frenzy following allegations that Sahabi Liman, husband of Faridah Bello Matawalle, was involved in an alleged infidelity scandal just weeks after their high-profile wedding.
Faridah is the daughter of Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence and former Governor of Zamfara State. Her wedding to Liman on February 6, 2026, held at the Central Mosque in Abuja, attracted widespread attention as part of a grand multi-wedding ceremony hosted by her father.
According to circulating reports, the controversy began after a woman identified as Mariam allegedly shared content on social media suggesting an ongoing relationship with Liman. The claims, which remain unverified, have fueled speculation online about the state of the marriage.
Further allegations suggest that Mariam was previously close to both parties, reportedly having a past relationship with Liman. Claims also surfaced that the relationship may have continued discreetly even after his marriage.

A man in India reportedly exhumed his late sister’s remains and took them to a bank after staff allegedly insisted that the account holder must appear in person before any withdrawal could be made.
The incident occurred at the Maliposi branch of Odisha Grameen Bank in Patana block, Keonjhar district. The man, identified as 50-year-old Jeetu Munda from Dianali village, was said to have been trying to access ₹20,000 from his late sister’s account.
Reports state that his sister, Kalra Munda, passed away on January 26, 2026. Jeetu allegedly visited the bank several times but claimed officials repeatedly asked him to bring the account holder in person before releasing the funds.
According to him, he explained that his sister had died, but staff allegedly ignored his explanation and maintained their demand.
Out of frustration and a lack of understanding of the legal process, Jeetu reportedly dug up his sister’s grave and brought her remains to the bank as evidence of her death.
Police from Patana Police Station later responded to the scene. Authorities described Jeetu as an illiterate tribal man who may not have understood legal procedures such as nominee or inheritance claims.
Police also reportedly criticized the bank staff for not clearly explaining the proper process for withdrawing money from a deceased person’s account.
After discussions with officials, authorities promised to help process the withdrawal through the correct legal channels. The remains were later returned and reburied at the cemetery in the presence of police officers.

Crime › Dispatch Rider Caught On Video Eating Customer’s Order Before Delivery by Prestar(op): 8:09am On Apr 27 |
A viral video making rounds on X has stirred condemnation and raised public health concerns after a dispatch rider was seen eating from a customer’s small chops order before completing the delivery
In the clip, the rider appeared to open the package mid-transit and consume part of the contents, an act many have described as unprofessional and unsafe.
He had dropped the small boxes of the snacks by the roadside and proceeded to open each boxes one after the other, and eating from them.
Netizens have described the act as of moral failure.
One netizen wrote: “I remember one time I gave my bike man a bag of rice to go and mill it for me in a rice milling factory. Little did he know that the factory kept records of the amount of “mudus” they mill for customers for accountability and record-keeping.
When he brought it back home, I decided to measure it myself to know whether the rice had viable seeds or not. I measured 80 mudus early on and expected it to have at least 35 mudus after milling and chaff removal but this man brought 30 measures.
That’s how I went to the factory with him and asked personally if what I measured was the same thing as theirs and they told me they recorded 39 “mudus”.
Before I knew it the bike man started apologising to me, kneeling, that he was the one who fetched it to give it to his wife. That he has no food in his house (a big lie). And this man knows quite well that anytime I send him on such errands, I usually fetch him some.
I followed him to his house and collected my rice and stopped sending him errands again.
Trust Nigerians, at your own peril.”
Another commented: “Many issues raised. Also 1. His total lack of concern or shame about being seen doing this, in the open. 2. Fingers dipped into people’s food & packs placed carelessly on the ground. The is a huge public health risk. 3. Not poverty/hunger. It’s lack of conscience, moral failing.”

A faction of Boko Haram, known as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian government, threatening to execute 416 captives, mostly women and children, if its demands are not met.
In a video shared by SaharaReporters, a masked spokesperson for the group announced the ultimatum, declaring that the countdown had begun.
“We are a group of people from Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad… Our leader is Imam Abu Mu’min al-Muhajir. Today is the 19th of April, 2026,” the spokesperson said.
He stated that the message was directed at multiple stakeholders, including the Nigerian government and a group identified as the Borno South Youth Alliance.
The insurgents warned that both sides had already exchanged demands and that no changes would be accepted.
“We are giving you seventy-two (72) hours. If you do not fulfil what we have told you… do not add or change anything beyond what we have told you,” the spokesperson said.
He stressed that failure to comply would lead to deadly consequences.
“If these demands are not met within seventy-two hours, we will begin to execute the women and small children… they will be shot,” he threatened.
The group also cautioned authorities against attempting a rescue operation.
“If you attempt to recover them by force… it will only make matters worse,” the insurgent warned.
Reiterating the seriousness of the threat, he added, “This is not a bluff… we are not people who make empty threats, we act on what we say.”
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from the Federal Government regarding the ultimatum.
BOSYA Leader Makes Emotional Appeal Reacting to the development, President of the Borno South Youth Alliance, Sama’ila Ibrahim Kaigama, appealed to top government officials to act urgently.
He called on President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to intervene.
“The government has not contacted us yet… Federal government has not said a thing yet,” Kaigama lamented.
Kaigama said he had made efforts to engage authorities and facilitate the victims’ release.
“I am only a mediator… I went to places a lot of youths like me will never go to because I want to save the lives of these individuals,” he said.
He also appealed to influential figures, including business leaders, to support efforts to secure the captives’ freedom.
