Drama as pastor snatches and impregnates choir master’s wife in Ekiti
The founder of Christ High Commission Church, Araromi-Ugbesi, in Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State, Pastor Noah Abraham, has been allegedly accused of snatching and impregnating the wife of his choirmaster.
The pastor who has been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command was also accused of kidnapping over nine persons including minors.
He was arrested by the police in collaboration with the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
Recall that the cleric was arrested on April 27, 2022, in Omuo-Ekiti, after he converged over 40 persons in a camp and collected the sum of N310,000 from each of them as a ticket fee to heaven, but was granted bail by a Magistrate Court.
However, on Thursday, November 17, 2023, he was again arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command in collaboration with NAPTIP, for the alleged kidnapping of over nine persons including minors and impregnating his choir coordinator’s wife.
The choir coordinator of the church identified as Dare Ikuenayo, while accusing the cleric of snatching and impregnating the mother of his three children, said he told him that she had the gift of prophecy and she should allow her to stay with him.
Ikuenayo said: “I joined the church in Kabba, Kogi State, but one day, the pastor called me and notified me that my wife had a gift of prophecy that I should allow her to stay with him for a month and work for God which I obliged.
“Suddenly, I noticed that my wife was not even willing to see or talk to me. While I was trying to raise my eyebrows, the pastor announced in the church that he had taken my wife and no one could take her from him. I tried my best to no avail until he impregnated her and moved her into his house fully.”
Another old woman, who is the elder sister to Pastor Abraham, alleged that he took almost a million naira from her on different occasions on the account that he wanted to cleanse her of evil spirits
A 27-year-old man, who was already working in an unnamed company where he was given an official vehicle, was asked to resign and kept in the camp without a specific mission.
One of the pastors in the church, who had a similar ordeal but spoke on condition of anonymity to Vanguard, said: “The message then was purity. When I heard that message, that gave me the courage to say that I had found a place, not until things started going wrong.
“He told me that my wife, whom we have been married for over 30 years, has 21 evil spirits and I had to send her away.
“At the initial stage, I asked her to go. Later, I was asked to bring her back and made a lot of sacrifices which involved lots of money.
“He said she had a curse which will require me to remove with money. My three children were with him. My firstborn, a graduate of Ambrose Alli University, studied Human Physiology and was already working. He was asked to resign because an edifice was coming down from heaven.
“His son was also withdrawn from the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, along with other children. My daughter, who was an undergraduate student at the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi, was asked to come down with my people in Kaduna. About 18 of us came down, celebrating that there was a programme coming on.
Speaking on the allegations, Pastor Abraham said the arrest by the police was meaningless, noting that he has fulfilled his mission on earth, which was to open a new phase of converts to his sender.
His words: “I rejoice because, for 42 years, I was trained for the work of 14 weeks. Until the first day of the assignment was concluded, nobody could pull down this church. When I started the second phase of my job on earth, they brought me here that I was to collect three things from people to stop the second phase. It gives me joy and my father is happy in heaven.
“I have spoken a lot and after I depart from this planet, there will be a sign all over the earth. This is what I want everybody to listen to. My mission, that has been completed, is to open up a new phase, which is the last one on this planet. I’m happy because it has been fulfilled.”
When contacted, the spokesman for the Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu said the investigation was ongoing in collaboration with NAPTIP, adding that the police would move to the next line of action.
The specific line of action has yet to be disclosed as at the time of filing this report.

A Nigerian man has explained why he rejected N40 million offered him for the bicycle he rode from Jos, Plateau to Saudi Arabia.
Aliyu Abdullahi Obobo rode a bicycle from Jos, Plateau State, to Saudi Arabia between February 2021 to December 2022.
He said he is not regretting turning down the 200,000 Riyal (about N40 million) offered for his bicycle.
He said he prefers that the bicycle be kept in a Nigerian museum as a national monument for future generations to connect with history.
He said he decided to have the bicycle kept and handed over to the winner of the February 2023 Nigerian Presidential election for onward deposit in the museum.
Obobo who hails from Nasarawa State, however, noted that he has received many praises, well wishes and warm welcomes from people for his feat and that it was at such function in Saudi Arabia that one Egyptian pilgrim offered to pay him 200,000 Riyal for the bicycle, at Makarem Ajyad Makkah Hotel.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, he said, “Bringing the bicycle back to Nigeria to be kept in the museum is the result of my deep patriotism and love for my country.
The reason for the pilgrimage was for spiritual fulfilment and not for monetary gains.
“I will be embarking on foot from Jos to Lagos to commence the process of handing over the motorcycle to the Nigerian government for onward keep in the museum.
Obobo said upon his arrival to Nigeria from the Holy Land and hosting in Lagos, the bicycle was then left in the custody of the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government Area, Moyosore Ogunlewe.
He thanked the Lagos State officials and the Hausa community in Lagos for playing a crucial role in his homecoming, adding that upon his arrival in Lagos, he will liaise with the leaders for further activities.
Explaining why he embarked on the journey from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia by bicycle, Obobo said, “It is out of my love for the Islamic faith, the Holy Prophet (Mohammed) and my desire to perform the pilgrimage in my lifetime, but that I could not afford the fare and other expenses involved.
He said he traversed three countries before arriving in Saudi Arabia, namely Niger, Chad and Sudan, adding that he did not initially have a visa to Saudi Arabia and that he had stayed in Sudan for some months to get his visa fixed for him by the Nigerian ambassador to Sudan before proceeding.
Obobo said his pilgrimage eventually turned much more eventful and fulfilling, even more than many privileged people who went with ease, because the news of his adventure got him a hero’s welcome and as a result, he got special treatment and went to wherever he needed to go to in Saudi Arabia and during the pilgrimage.
He said during his journey, he came across many wild animals but God protected him and that he equally came across Boko Haram but they did not harm him.
He said members of Boko Haram said they heard about his adventure in the news and only requested water from him, after which they directed him on the right path to follow.
Gunmen Abduct Nurse, Shoot Her Husband In Osun And Demand N10M Ransom
[A nurse, Mrs. Sadia Ogunyinka has been abducted by gunmen who also shot her husband in Osun State.
Ogunyinka was said to have been abducted while she was returning from a farm along Iwo/Ileogbo Road in Osun State on Friday, November 17, 2023.
It was gathered that the gunmen shot her husband in the leg before whisking the nurse away to an unknown destination.

A colleague of the victim, who spoke on condition of anonymity during an interview with the Punch on Tuesday, November 21, said since the incident, there have not been serious efforts on the part of the security agencies to get her freed.
He added that colleagues of the victims have embarked on fundraising to support her family, as the abductors were said to have initially demanded N20m before the ransom was reduced to N10m.
"No serious efforts on the part of the security agents to secure the freedom of the victim. The abductors are negotiating with the family. From N20m, the abductors have reduced their demand to N10m. We are seeking government involvement in securing her freedom,” he said.
A message circulated among her colleagues partly read, “Let’s join hands together to pray for the quick and safe return of Mrs Ogunyinka S.A who was reportedly kidnapped on Friday 17/11/2023 at gunpoint along Iwo-Ile Ogbo axis. May Almighty be with the family during this trying time.”
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the incident said efforts were on to free the victim.
"The incident happened last week. We are making efforts to free the victim and arrest the perpetrators,” the PPRO added.

A Higher National Diploma female student of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, has been allegedly hacked to death by yet-to-be identified persons.
The student, identified as Toyin Bamidele of the Food Technology Department, was allegedly hacked to death in her rented apartment outside the campus on Thursday.
The institution’s acting head, Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, confirmed the alleged murder to Punch on Friday.
Oyinloye, who said that the management had commenced an investigation into the murder in conjunction with security agencies, said, “The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community.
“While the circumstances behind the incident remain unknown, investigations are currently ongoing to reveal the identity of the evil occurrence by the appropriate security agencies and, as a matter of urgency, to fish out the culprits.
“Her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire management and Staff of the Polytechnic.
“The management somberly condoles with her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for the great loss and urges anyone who has useful information on this occurrence to report to Security Agents.

GWR will have to in the next few hours release an official statement (on its website) acknowledging the record attempt and then get possession of the evidence for its Records Management Team to review, before the record can be confirmed official.
A team member of Chef Tope Maggie Cook-a-thon Adventure, Mr. Seun Ogunbiyi, who spoke with ogbomosoinsightonline.com Saturday, said Tope successfully completed the attempt in the early hours of Saturday (about 2:41), disclosing however he was immediately conveyed in an ambulance, which had been on stand by at the venue, to an hospital for comprehensive medical investigation. “And so currently the heroic chef is undergoing normal medical attention and taking a deserved rest,” he added.
Ogunbiyi, who was organizer of the event, informed the team is now compiling the evidence of the cooking marathon.

Nigerian Man Burns His Educational Certificates Over Lack Of Job (Video)
A video of a Nigerian graduate, Olutimehin Ilenre, burning his original certificates has surfaced online.
The History and International Studies graduate from Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) in Oyo State burnt his Bachelor of Arts, West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Certificates.
In a video released on social media on Monday, Ilenre said he burnt his certificates due to a lack of a job, adding that the current situation in the country has rendered his certificates useless.
“To get a certificate in this country is like a waste of time,” he lamented.
The Nigerian graduate added that even when travelling out of the country, the certificates are rendered useless.
He noted that he had been unable to sleep in the last week after he recalled that all the jobs he had done for the past 13 years were jobs for which his certificates were not needed.
Ilenre, therefore, advised Nigerian youth to learn handwork due to the country’s present realities and urged parents to empower their children to learn handwork and trade.
“I finished school in 2010 and did my NYSC in 2010/2011; till today, I haven’t used these certificates to get a job,” Ilenre said.
Tola King, an Oshogbo-based artiste has reportedly died after he fell ill during a church concert on Saturday.
The Governor of Celestial Performing Artistes Association of Nigeria, in Osun State, Temitope Awosika, who confirmed the incident during an interview with Punch Metro on Sunday, said Tola King was performing alongside his other colleagues at a concert organised by a Celestial church located in the Obalende area of Osogbo in the early hours of Saturday, when he suddenly became sick.
Awosika, who said he was contacted when the artiste took ill, further said Tola King was promptly attended to inside the church before he was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Osogbo, from where he was transferred to another hospital in Ile-Ife at daybreak.
He further said, “Tola King was one of us in the Osun chapter. Saturday morning, I was called around 3 am, but I didn’t pick up the call. Around 5:30 am, I picked up the call. There was a concert at a Celestial Church in Obalende, Osogbo.
“The person that called me is one Evangelist Femi. The deceased and Femi were called to perform at the same time. Tola King performed for a while and dropped the microphone for Femi. After that, Femi said Tola suddenly held him from the back.
“He was immediately attended to as his breathing was at that point becoming heavy. Within 10 minutes, he was rushed to a hospital. From that first hospital, he was referred to another hospital in Ile-Ife. He was promptly attended to in that Ife hospital.
“Around 1:30 pm Saturday, his condition did not improve and by 2 pm, he gave up the ghost. He didn’t slump in the church. He was made to sit down when he took ill in the church. He was given first aid before he was taken to hospital.”
The CPAAN governor, who said the incident had thrown the association into mourning, charged people to lead a righteous life, as death remained a certain end for all creatures.
A 500-level student of the University of Benin has been reportedly shot dead inside the campus in a renewed war between rival cult groups in the institution.
Three other students who were said to have sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
A Student Union executive said the incident happened on Friday evening when the students were retiring to their hostels.
The source said members of the cult group stormed the Anatomy Department, close to the back gate of the institution where they killed the victim after the students finished writing their examination.
It was gathered that the deceased student was shot at a close range in his car. Three others were also shot while they were trying to escape from the gunmen.
The incident caused panic among the students and staff members on campus as they scampered for safety.
Another student said a fight between rival groups broke out in the Ekiadolor area, a community next to the school some days ago in which about three persons were allegedly killed before spreading to the Ugbowo campus of the institution.
A viral video of the incident showed a red car with bullet holes. The body of a man was seen being removed from the car and taken to the back of a pick-up van where he was to be taken away.
Efforts to get the reaction of the school’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, proved abortive as she did not reply to two messages sent to her through WhatsApp.
When contacted, the State Police Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was yet to be informed of the incident.
“I am yet to be briefed of such an incident. When I get the brief, I will let you know, but for now no information.”

24-year-old UNIPORT student denies killing girlfriend, says she died in her sleep
A 24-year-old student of the University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, Damian Okoligwe, who allegedly killed his 20-year-old girlfriend, Justina Otuene, has denied having a hand in the deceased’s death.
Okoligwe denied the allegation during an interview with journalists at the Command Headquarters of the Rivers State Police Command, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
The suspect who said he was sick when the deceased visited his home, claimed he noticed his girlfriend was lifeless when he woke up.
He further claimed that he went to his brother’s house for treatment and returned three days later to dispose of her body.
The 400-level Petrochemical Engineering student denied harvesting any organ from Justina’s body, claiming that her remains were still intact.
Okoligwe said, “I was very sick that morning, and when I went to the room to check on her, she was still sleeping.
“I went back to the parlor, I laid down because I was very sick. I was calling her but she was not responding. I had to go back to check on her.
“I went to check on her, she was not moving at all. She was very stiff and strong. After that, I did not know what to do, I had to carry her body into another room, and then I called my brother to come to my place.
“He came, and then he took me out of the place. He did not know there was anybody in my house. He took me to his place. That was where I received my treatment.
“I was thinking if I report the issue, I will be blamed for everything. So, I was trying to wrap her body and get rid of it, which was very wrong of me to do.
“As I came back that Wednesday to come and wrap her body, that was the Wednesday the police came. I did not remove any of her body parts.”
He noted that their relationship was not stable.
The suspect added that the deceased took a Bolt ride to his house on her own, noting that she was supposed to leave the same night but he slept off.
On his part, John Otuene, the elder brother to the slain 20-year-old girl, said his family wants justice to prevail on the matter.
“On Wednesday, we got a call that a case of a dead person had been reported to the Ozuoba Police Station and that we should go to the Police Station.
“So, I reported to the IPO at Mini-Okoro Police station. We reported to the commander. The commander gave the IPO a go-ahead.
“All of us went to the Ozuoba Police Station and they met the officer there who confirmed that the missing person in the picture is the person that was killed.
“I need justice. The guy that did it should pay for it, and everybody that was involved, because definitely, he was not the only one that was involved. Justice is what we need,” he said.

The House, through its Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance, on Thursday, October 26, 2023, also invited the manager of the late singer, Jiggy Adeoye, to an interactive session slated for Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
Mohbad, an ex-signee of Naira Marley’s record label, died on September 12, 2023, at age 27.
Naira Marley has also been accused of bullying or ordering the harassment of the late singer, however, police have identified other suspects connected to the death.
Naira Marley had earlier this month turned himself into the police and was taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities by coroner inquest instituted by the Lagos State government.
he House said both Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager were needed to guide the committee on further legislative action. The letter was routed through the President, Performing Musicians Associations of Nigeria (PMAN).
The House had resolved to wade into the matter following the adoption of a motion moved by Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos).
Benson had called for a review of relevant laws guiding the entertainment industry as well as copyright laws, while expressing concerns about the contracts and agreements that entertainers are compelled to sign.
The lawmakers during the debate on the matter at plenary on September 26 also assured MohBad’s family of its commitment to secure proper compensation and royalties from his musical works.
