I read some comments including yours and am really shocked that the family system has deteriorated in Nigeria, i thank God i have a supportive family , so because your family demands money then you will totally withdraw yourself from them, That brother is suppose to help his siblings so the stop depending on him but from what the Op wrote he already has that trait from childhood and the siblings just choose to ignore because of the love the have for him and writing that getting a job in shell or other multinationals is merit i can categorically tell you that a top person in the company can actually help you get a job, most people wont understand the OP because most are already from a loveless home and dnt understand the importance of family , see the dangote and the dantata, the ikejis, iamEmoney and iamkcee etc , someone in these mentioned family climbed to the top and helped others, stop using negative examples and understand the op, my advice is that you should pray for your brother ,there is nothing you can do for now

He didn't deprive himself of anything? Do you hear yourself? See your mindset, are you in his pocket?

Your brother can not get you into Shell, whether he works there or not.
I know for a fact how rigorous their recruitment process is, especially if it is for a fulltime position.
There're companies that hire contract staff for Shell and others, that one is another matter.

If you finished within the age range for their engineering graduate trainee program why didn't you apply? Was your grade good? Did you pass the aptitude test, and their accessment day?
Their fulltime recruitment is centralized and done from out of country.

It's not a one man's business, you hear that he's helping people what kind of help? Do you know? Have you bothered to ask him?

You seem misinformed, you were all given the same opportunity i don't know why you seem so resentful and envious of him.
Shell is one company at least that you can get into on merit, people without connection do it everyday, it's not your brother's fault that you're an engineer that works in a hospital.

I got admitted into American University for both their MS Biostatistics and Statistics. If I was to attend I would have chosen the Biostatistics as it was the best match for me in all the schools, I am actually drawn to it. However, I was given a teaching assistantship position with some funding that is inadequate. Pretty sad about this particular offer sad sad sad

Congratulations ,please can you kindly give me the materials you used in studying for GRE, Thank you

I'm blessed to marry a very good Christian lady from Kogi(yoruba) and i am Delta(ibo). Came to niaja in search of a lady after being in d US for over 5 years. Did not like d one i had being talking to over d phone for over a year, did not want to trap myself with someone i didnt love or like very much.

I had a week left for my naija stay until a childhood friend asked me to leave my hotel and spend the last week in his house. He forgot he had a sister in law that was at d age for marriage and actually was planning to introduce me to one or two female friends he had, hoping i could like them. He forgot about his wife's younger sister because she was so into her studies at IFE and she hardly came back home during holidays, she was locked down at OAU. God was good to me because it was just as i visited naija that this beautiful lady was having a breather from OAU after she had finished her last set of exams. It was when she called her sister to tell her that she had finished her last exams and was in their parent's home that my friend remembered that he had an in law that may like me. My friend told her about me immediately and told her that we would come visiting d next day.

The next day we visited n i saw her in d living room, all cleaned up of course because she was expecting us. We talked for a while and saw that we had so much in common, especially that we both had Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. I departed for the US shortly. we spoke on the phone everyday for about a year, untill i came back to niaja to propose to her. Thank God she used all that time to do her housemanship in LUTH. See how God blessed me. I came back again for the wedding proper but she didn't go back with me untill my filling (travel documents) for her came through( 6 months) . she came to the US and joined me in my one bedroom apartment. We moved to two when we were expecting baby # one.

We planned that she didnt work but focus on her 3 tough exams in order for her to practice medicine in the US. In all exams she scored a 99% percentile ( she's a brain). Shes one of the best Docs a patient can ask for and is practicing in a top hospital. We have two kids and she's getting even prettier as we age. Married for ten years now. Glory to God.

That the secret people fail to understand, any principle that is not founded on Jesus Christ will certainly fail,it becomes a game of luck n chance, a practical Christian will always behave well. Thank God for your marriage and I tape into these testimony.

The dilemma I'm facing now, I dey based in Yankee and I have pretty much achieved everything a young man can have for an ideal American dream... e remain to find wife but good women dey scarce these days( maybe the good ones are hiding, or I'm not just looking hard enough). Mumsy dey tell me make I go Naija find wife, been communicating with lots of beautiful and amazing (at least online) Naija girls back home, each time I bring up the idea of marriage and I tell them I'm in Yankee...they always seem too excited than necessary, as coded guy wey I be, I already know reasons why. I'm just too scared to take any chances cause marriage ain't no joke... I guess I'm better off just finding a Nigerian girl based here in yankee.

If I will advice you ,dnt feed yourself with negativity especially the negative stories you read online, there are alot of good women out there and pray you meet one . Alot of my friends n Aunties are married to guys based abroad and all are enjoying their marriage. Another thing is you can only attract who you are. Hope you are not among the people who married for papers n looking for a good woman to marry. Fraud is fraud n karma is real.

Op and other Yankee residents I have a few questions to ask
1) For the married ones in naija, will they have to state single during visa application in order for them to get married to a whity American or it doesn't matter, if this is the surest means of acquiring a GC.If in this situation naija wify is very understanding.
2) I heard that you can acquire legalized papers to work in yankee all you have to do is pay some money, as much as $10,000 in some cases or less perhaps even more.
3) People also get their legalized papers by going to the immigration office to change their status.
Pls throw more light on these

Please no one should give this guy an answer, you guys treat woman as scum, which woman in her right senses want to share her husband, no values again in the society ,go and learn programing for free online and take care of your family.

Olddirtywizard:

It depends on many variables. But let me give you just one example.

2buffagain left Nigeria for US to pursue graduate studies on F1 Visa.
(a) if married before he left Nigeria, he could send documentation to his wife/children to schedule F2 visa interview, and come over without much hassle.
(b)Otherwise, he would need to go home, marry and then bring his wife along etc.
You can't work on F2 visa but can live in US as long as your F1 partner is in status. Your wife can even apply for change of visa status from F2 to F1 without leaving US and also pursue graduate studies.

Let's say, 2buffagain got his PhD or masters and landed an offer in one of these good companies. He will move from F1 to O/H1B and his dependents would be issued O/H4. Dependents can still not work, but have full rights to live in US as long as principal visa holder is in status. 2buffagain and his dependents can then move from O/H1B to green card.

Many serious folks got their PhD within five years, and then green card, two years after graduation.

Bottomline, don't date losers!

I concur with you ,never date a loser ,even many Nigeria couples are shameless , if you are married in Nigeria why not think of migrating the right way, how can I be married n allow my husband sleep with a woman for ordinary green card. That you can get through studies n hard work and they are other develop ed countries you can migrate to. This advice of op is for losers not for people dating a sound person , Education is one of the best route ,apply for scholarships, get graduate funding and bring your patners even uk allow dependents to work on student visas (msc,PhD route) . Finding love is not easy and don't throw it away for a USA hustle ,you don't know the future ,many Nigeria live in the present ,ask yourself in the next 20 ,30,40,50 years how happy will you be with the decisions you take today. Please someone like me that loves stable family can never involve myself with this.Even with his green card am not interested in such history about a person. Believe there is a God that can help you genuinely, have a vision and watch yourself succeed the right way that will give you peace . SHALOM

Hello Guys. I guess everyone has settled in ? For those still trying to getting admission and funding, don't give up. Those of us who have benefited from here will do our best in helping others too.

By the way,I did change my school to Stanford. Remember the guy I was always mailing at Stanford? He was able to get funding for me as one of his prospective students left for Cambridge in the UK. So I'm super elated and glad. Though I wasted some money processing stuff to go to TAMU, I'm optimistic going to Stanford is worth it.

Congrats

Wow good to finally make my comment on this thread, I have been following for over a year and I must commend @scholartisca @timetosmile @drhopeful @ponpon @quoran @rafezy etc and the person that started this thread @Dinja, u guys have really motivated people to pursue their dreams of schooling abroad, most people are not aware of the GRE route but with your post many people have succeeded in gaining admission with full funding, you guys deserve all the accolades, is really rare for most Nigerians to share information but here I HV seen most of you empty yourselves for others to succeed and is really amazing

I will be graduating from university next month, a student of nutrition n dietetics and will love to pursue a PHD in Nutrition or public health with full funding. Please I really want to know if there are funding in my field of study and also if anyone know about Dietetics internship for international student of Nutrition who wants to do their internship in the USA or Canada . Thank you very much I appreciate you all.
