Sports / Gerard Piqué To Consider Playing In Colombia For Shakira's Sake by prettydynamic: 4:20pm On Mar 01, 2016
Footballer Gerard Pique says he might play in Colombia towards the end point of his career because of his partner Shakira, who's from Colombia. It is common among football stars to play in lower leagues towards the end of their career but Pique's decision to consider plying his trade in Colombia is a real sign of love.

In a Periscope chat after Barça's 2-1 win over Sevilla, he answered a whole host of questions, including about his close friend and former Barcelona teammate Cesc Fàbregas, now at Chelsea, and about Neymar's future . When asked whether he will be interested in playing in Colombia one day, he said;

"I don't know, we'll see what happens in the future. I'd like to sample another league when I'm nearing retirement; I don't know if that might be in the US or South America. It'd be nice for it to be Colombia for 'Shaki', but no one can tell what will happen in the future"

Politics / Court Orders Obasanjo, yar'adua, jonathan's Government To Account For Stolen Funds by prettydynamic: 3:39pm On Mar 01, 2016
A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former president Goodluck Jonathan and late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's government to account for all the loots they recovered during their administrations, Vanguard reports.

Delivering judgement in a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) today March 1st, the presiding judge, Justice M.B. Idris, ruled that successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999 “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.”

He thereafter ordered that President Buhari “ensures that his government, and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.”.

Details ordered by the court to be made public include: information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent.
Romance / When Should You Give Your Partner A Second Chance? by prettydynamic: 9:54am On Jan 12, 2016
Hmmm, second chances. A partner who has professed and pledged undying love for you in public, private, social media, among friends and family(even before his ancestors if possible) is suddenly caught neck deep in an affair – be it emotional, physical or secret affair.

In the case of emotional affairs, he feels he is simply chatting and texting and that shouldn’t count as anything untoward. So far he hasn’t taken it a notch higher in terms of active dating then, he isn’t in the wrong. Those who engage in secret affair do not wish their partners to know. They try to cover their tracks but like the title of Teju Cole’s book, ‘everyday is for the thief.’

Now, the crux of the matter here is that after you have caught your partner in either of the scenarios, he begs for forgiveness like his life depends on it. He claims he only got carried away for a moment but he or she is still in love with you. You forgive him or her, yet you know very well in your heart that he will still do it again and again. But because he has begged you, you hang on to hope, the hope of a faithfulness that exists only in your head but apparently doesn’t exist with your partner.

Seriously, has second chances been abused? Why do some people beg you and still go back to the same thing over and over again. Is it that they take their partners for granted? Is it just about ‘let me beg him/her and then cover my tracks well next time’? How many people actually beg for a second chance with the whole of their heart and with the readiness to change?

Take for example, a man who beats his wife for whatever reason, begs for a second chance. He does everything possible to win her back until one day, the devil in him rears it’s ugly head again, and he beats her, yet again. This time he compensates by changing her car. She hangs on, because she loves him and he doesn’t beat her all the time.

A guy begs his girlfriend for forgiveness after cheating and getting caught. He cries bitterly, begs like his life depends on it. Girl sees genuineness, forgives and they move on. Few weeks later, guy is back to his vomit.
How do we explain these strange human tendencies? Do we say it’s a weakness that’s beyond them, or it isn’t ordinary, or they just want to eat their cake and have it? Or they don’t want to commit to one partner?

When is it right to give another chance? Or is it better to do away with such people after a first offence? I’ll be waiting to read insightful and honest opinions in the comment box. And if you’ve got such an experience, kindly share and let’s learn.
Celebrities / Actor John Dumelo Shares His Views On How Best To Treat A Woman by prettydynamic: 11:20am On Jan 11, 2016
He shared his views on his Instagram page. Read below...

My view on how to treat women.
1.Don't compare your wife to other women. You don't know what their husbands are going through.
2. Never expose your wife's weakness to your family or friends or run to them whenever you have issues. Problems are best solved between you and your woman.
3. Don't think you are man so you can use intimidation, shout or violence to communicate your moods. Agreesive men don't make a happy home.

4. Speak gently and calmly to your wife. Never raise your voice at her, it demeans her and shows you think she is stupid.
5. Do your responsibilities as man...don't leave every to your woman.

6. Never blame your wife if she doesn't take care of the home everyday. She is swamped with house work and helping you raise the kids.

7. Don't be wasteful spending money on drinks, friends and extended family. The wife and children are your first responsibility.

8. Sex is also important to women. Her pleasure should be considered before your own.
9. Never compare your wife to your ex-girlfriends. If you loved them so much why didn't you marry them instead of your wife.

10. Never shout down your wife or challenge her in front of the children. The children are watching. They won't listen and obey her too.

11. Tell your wife she's beautiful even if you know she's looking normal. Women love compliment.
12. Don't forget that women also want attention and someone to share their thougts with. Never be too busy for your wife.
13. A prayerful man is a better equipped husband. Pray always for your wife and family. Don't leave the prayers to your wife.
14.Treat your wife like a queen. Buy her gifts, take her shopping and once in a while, cook for her.
15.Please don't forget your these anniversary dates. Wedding ,engagement, the first time you kissed. I beg you. These dates mean a lot to women. (Don't ask me why). I also don't know.
16. Your mother should not have the final say in your marriage. You married your wife, not you and your mother. Let her talk in her own husband's house.

17.There are 5 days each month that you have to say "I'm sorry", "yes baby" and "I love you" more than 7 times a day. That's when she's menstrating.
Nairaland / General / 3032 Soldiers Reject Deployment To Fight Boko Haram by prettydynamic: 9:53am On Jan 08, 2016
The soldiers who were pardoned last year for various offences during the fight against Boko Haram, have all been posted to the North East to fight Boko Haram. All 3,032 of the soldiers rejected the posting adding that they were never really pardoned and re-integrated into the Army, rather, re-sentenced to fight with Boko Haram and endanger their lives.

The soldiers also claimed that they have been subjected to unimaginable ill treatment after their pardon. They also said that since they have been kicked out of the barracks they have not been paid for seven months hence have been living from hand to mouth.

The Commandant of NASI, Major General Kassim Aldulkareem, informed them that they have been assigned new riffles and should be ready for deployment to the fronts on 11 January, 2016.

However, the soldiers complained that they have not been fully re-instated into the Nigerian Army, because attempts by them to report to their units were rejected at their bases since they haven't been given their re-instatement letters.

It was gathered that, they cried, “We are not going! Give us re-instatement letters! You are sentencing us back to war,” among others. According to sources, the Commandant hurriedly left when the soldiers were becoming uncontrollable.
One of the soldiers who spoke to some newsmen said:

“Look at me; I have put in about 28 years of my life serving this country. I have seen action in Liberia; I have been to Rwanda, Sudan and even served overseas and we the Nigerian troops did very well and were decorated in some occasions.

“But, our experience in fighting to save our motherland is too sad a story for the outside world to know. We are not cowards. We held on for over four months facing Boko Haram.

“I just want to say that after the Army dismissed about 5,000 of us, 3032 of us were pardoned last August. Since that time, the Army Authority has treated us like prisoners of wars.

“We were told to assemble in Jaji on August 17, which we did. Then on August 19, the General Officer Commander, GOC, of 1st Infantry Division, Maj. Gen Adeniyi Oyebade gathered us and without prior noticed moved us to Nigerian Army training Centre, NATRAC, Kontogora. Some of us found ourselves there in bathroom slippers. We were just taken straight to the place. Then, without any additional clothes or uniform, we were subjected to what was clear punishment, not training for another three weeks.

“Still in the clothes we came, we were again relocated to 333 artillery Barracks, Njetilo, Maiduguri. We got nothing but constant insults as cowards. We were there without uniforms no arms. They just left us there and we were abused and told to assemble at every two hours through these days for another three weeks.

“In Jaji, we went through another round of punishment, not training. Yet, we were not given any letter to show that we are still serving soldiers.

“So when the Commandant came and said we were going back to the North East, without clearing our status, we felt we have been punished enough.” he said.

Romance / Why You Should Not Flaunt Your Relationship On Social Media by prettydynamic: 9:54am On Jan 07, 2016
Social media can be way more fun when you can post photos and videos of that special someone you enjoying spending time with on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Snap chat.
In most cases you might want to think twice before posting “Best hubby ever!!!! #blessed” or “amazing day with bae” on Facebook or Instagram.
According to a new study soon to be published in the journal of Personal Relationships, when you post lovely, affectionate updates, your friends don’t exactly react the way you might expect.

1. It makes public what is meant to be private: I believe that romance is one of those things that is meant to be private, but it seems that once you change your relationship status the force of Facebook is working against you.

2. It gives haters an opportunity to “prey” on your ”bae” or ”boo”: Once you upload a picture and you’ve tagged your “bae” your followers will follow or send a friend request to your new boo. Then they start going through photos of him/her making an assessment of who they are, trying to find something bad to say about them, while some may go to the extent of flirting with them online to try and get them to engage.

3. It promotes drama: Even if you only have a few friends on social media, you never know who might take a screenshot of something you post and share it.

4. It can cause a competitive element in your relationship: A good number of couples get into arguments about who posts more pictures of them together on Facebook or Instagram etc.

5. It creates a major dilemma if you break up: Now that you have a permanent online footprint that you were with this person. Do you keep the pictures up or do you take them down? How do you explain them to the next person you are with.
Remember don’t let social media negatively affect your relationship. Express appreciation for your partner, communicate with each other, maintain boundaries between your real life and your cyber life and don’t share too much you’ll both be much happier.
Keeping your relationship healthy online doesn’t take a lot of effort, and in the long run, it will make the relationship more likely to last.

Enypersie NaijaBet Santa Story

Thanks NaijaBet You ROCK!!! For the Santa Promo Bonus. I always thought Nigerian Sports Betting Companies were all fraudsters. Not until I joined NaijaBet and I was proven wrong. I joined NaijaBet on the 11th Nov 2015. On Christmas day and Boxing Day. I was randomly surfing Instagram, Nairaland and Facebook; I came across NaijaBet turn Santa Promo. I was reluctant to open it at first but I did and I noticed all I had to do was just to comment with the caption “Send your Username with #NaijaBetSanta and get a share”. The condition was that old users get between N 500 and N 1000 bonus and new users get a bonus of N200.

I commented with the #NaijaBetSanta, I was elated to see that I got a bonus of N1500 in my NaijaBet Account without stress. I just selected some events randomly with the bonus given and awaited my fate. I smiled and said to myself, Will NaijaBet really pay if I won with the bonus I was given without making any deposit on that day? And that even if I win some funds, they might come with stories and probably not pay my winnings.

I was so happy to see the status of the Bets as “Win” on my NaijaBet Account, but I also thought to myself , it is one thing to win and another thing for NaijaBet to Pay me. I paused and took a deep breath and said well let me take this bold step and make a withdrawal request.
I made the withdrawal request and a staff of NaijaBet called to congratulate me. Then I knew for sure I was going to be paid.
I feel so happy and excited to have benefitted from NaijaBet Santa Promo. I will spread the word on NaijaBet to all and sundry. NaijaBet is Very Real. What exactly are you waiting for? Politics / My Silence Should Not Be Mistaken For Weakness- Wike by prettydynamic: 10:29am On Dec 18, 2015
Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike yesterday said that the state would resist any move by the Federal Government to manipulate the National Assembly re-run election in the state with soldiers and policemen. The governor gave the warning when his supporters received him at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The governor who said that his silence should not be mistaken for weakness, assured all members of the party in the National Assembly whose elections were nullified would be returned in the re-run election.

He said that he was confident of emerging victorious and that he had instructed his lawyers to challenge the verdict of the Appeal Court at the Supreme Court.
He said:

“I want to warn, let nobody attempt to do what happened in Bayelsa State here. Since they said they have annulled the election, let them come and conduct fresh election. Let nobody think that they can use soldiers and policemen to intimidate us. We will resist any such attempt. We have maintained our cool for a long time. Our calmness should not be mistaken for weakness.

“We shall return all our National Assembly members as a way of disgracing those who think they will snatch the mandate of the people,” he said.

Sports / We Are No Robots - Gary Cahill by prettydynamic: 4:40pm On Dec 16, 2015
Chelsea defender, Gary Cahill has explained that football fans should understand that the players are no robots, stating that Chelsea have had memorable times and will soon be back to their best.

The defender further disclosed that last season was very though and as humans, the players cannot be expected to perform every week, but is confident of an upturn in their flagging fortunes.

“There are some great memories and I don’t think we should forget the manner in which we won the Premier League, leading from the start, which was an unbelievable achievement for everyone at the club,” he told Chelsea magazine.

“The flip side, as always with football, is that it’s a game of two halves – and we’ve had a difficult period. Last season was fantastic, this season has been tough, but we’re looking to turn that around. We’re working hard to make things right.

“Not every single minute of your career will go well, individually and collectively, and not every season will go how you want it to, but it’s how you react to that.

“You’re not a robot, you’re not going to be nine out of 10 every game.

“But when things aren’t going well, you work even harder and look for a reaction. I’m sure we’ll turn it around,” he said.

However, Paris Saint-Germain coach, Laurent Blanc has boasted that Chelsea football club are familiar foes and are easy to prepare for, adding that their UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash should be a 50-50 encounter.
Crime / Ambode Arrests Traffic Offenders by prettydynamic: 4:32pm On Dec 16, 2015
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos Today, Wednesday, December 16 ‘arrested’ motorists, tricyclist and motorcyclists driving against traffic in Ijora Olopa area of the state.

In a statement signed and issued by Habib Aruna, the chief press secretary to the governor, it was reported that the governor’s convoy which was driving from Lagos Island en-route Carter Bridge to Ikeja, also arrested some other motorists while committing traffic offences on Apogbon Bridge.

In what might be considered a surprising situation, a white Toyota Hilux belonging to the Lagos State Water Corporation was also arrested.

The offenders confessed to the crime and said they were forced to drive against traffic due to the gridlock.

Ogunwale Segun, a truck driver said: “Ï wanted to park refuse in Ijora when I was arrested. The Lawma road was blocked so I had to pass one way and that was what made me to be caught otherwise I would not have been arrested.”

A woman, Adejoke Elemoro who was also arrested said she was in a hurry to meet a customer for a meeting.

“I passed one way this morning when I was arrested. It is not that I did it intentionally but it was the naval officers in the area that directed me to pass one way. I left my house around 6am to catch up with the meeting and I had to pass one way because we have been facing serious traffic on that route since three months, and if not that, I will not meet up with my appointment.”

The offenders were handed over to the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences for prosecution.

Politics / Nigeria's House Rent Collecting System Must Change - Fashola by prettydynamic: 12:44pm On Dec 16, 2015
Minister for Works, Housing and Power, Babatunde Fashola has called for a review in the way Nigerians pay two years house rent whenever they are seeking to get an apartment. He stated this while speaking at a press conference in Abuja recently

“The way we collect rent is something that must change. If we are collecting two years rent in advance from a salary that is going to be earned in arrears monthly, there’s an accounting mismatch. This is something many of us have experienced, you pay two years rent in advance money you haven’t earned.
Something is distorted somewhere in our accounting model. We must all resolve, property owners alike, that maybe if we changed the way we collected rent alone many houses that are unoccupied, will be occupied. I am inclined to think that if we just change the payment system for housing we will accommodate a significant number of people.” he said
Politics / I Did Not Collect N100m From Dasuki - Odili Says by prettydynamic: 10:15am On Dec 16, 2015
Former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili has released a statement denying claims that he received N100 million from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) through former minister of state, finance, Bashir Yuguda. Odili who is a chieftain of the former ruling party, said the only money he collected was from PDP which was released by for the 2015 elections contact and mobilisation committees of the party.

“My attention has been drawn to some publications where a former Minister of State (Finance), Mr Bashir Yuguda was quoted to have said that he allegedly gave me the sum of N100 million, out of the money he purportedly collected from the former National Security Adviser,” he said in a statement Tuesday.

"I decided to personally sign this rebuttal because over the years, I had ignored various spurious and patently false reports against me because I know that at the fullness of time, the truth would surely prevail. I categorically state with all sense of responsibility that I have never had any dealings, private or business or official, with the former National Security Adviser, so the issue of allegedly collecting N100 million from either the former NSA or Mr Yuguda does not arise,” he stated Odili went further to state that "The party, not the former NSA or Yuguda gave the South -South Committee through me, the sum of N100 million along with other zonal Chairmen, in the house of the National Chairman, Dr. Adamu Muazu, for the assignment. This amount was subsequently disbursed to the relevant party members from the zone for the assignment given by the party. I have the appointment letter and terms of reference, minutes of all the meetings, signatures of all the members and the report of the zonal committee, which was duly submitted to the Party Leader. Christmas is a few days away and you are starting to feel as if your credit card is slowly burning a hole through your trousers. So how can it be done? How can you enjoy the festive season and not spend your entire paycheck on presents and festive paraphernalia?

It may seem impossible, but with simple budgetary checks and safeguards, you may find yourself enjoying your festive holiday and still making ends meet.

From the chats round the water cooler post-festive season, it is clear most of us do not plan ahead during the December holidays. But can there be a way to sidestep unnecessary expenses and the stress of the most “giving” time of year?

Take a look at how you can ditch the burden of blowing your budget and start your New Year minus the financial hangover.

Work Out a Budget
If you are oblivious of your spending habits and not sure about how much you can and cannot afford, you are probably at risk of being a spendthrift. With countless temptations around this time of year, it is wise to make ensure you are realistic about how much you can spend on your loved ones.

Work out your major extra expenses such as gifts, food and decorations and determine how much you are willing to spend, in order to set limits. Remember to take note of your daily expenses such as rent, food, healthcare and school fees. From there, you are able to see what budget you have left over for gifts and other luxuries.

The same goes for your savings account; assess how much you would like to put away for the month before looking at other more luxurious expenses.

Go Local
You have been dreaming about a holiday in a foreign destination all year. In your mind, you are sipping a margarita on the deck of your bungalow on the French Polynesian island of Bora Bora. But if you take a look at your expenses and find this is going to be an impossible venture, go local.

Everyone deserves a holiday, so why not explore your own country and visit a town you have been meaning to visit.

Becoming a tourist in your own land is a great way to realise just how lucky you are to live there. Known as a ‘staycation’, not only is it great on your wallet, this way you will never be lost in translation.

Don’t Go Overboard With the “Giving” Attitude
The act of generosity is a worthy character trait, but some of us have the tendency to go a little too overboard and feel they need to spoil everyone with expensive gifts, or it isn’t really Christmas.

And while Christmas is a time for giving and man, does it feel good to give, it is also critical that you never give beyond your means. A simple gift to let someone know you thought of them on Christmas, is most definitely in keeping with the Christmas spirit. Not to mention, you did not have to break the bank to put a smile on your loved one’s face.

Perhaps it’s a good idea to limit your gift-giving to close friends and family and have a chat with them about a price limit that everyone is comfortable with. Shopping within a price limit can be a challenging, yet fun experience where everyone is more grateful for your time than what you bought them. A suitable price limit for a small gift can be between ₦ 1000 – ₦ 2500.

Have you ever tried hosting a Secret Santa? This is where a group of friends, family or work colleagues, each draw a name out of the hat and buy a gift for the person whose name was the one you drew out.

There is Always a Cheaper Alternative
We all know the festive season is a time to spend with friends and family, and with that you don’t always have to spend a fortune to have a good time with the people you love and care about.

Host a dinner party with your friends and have everyone bring one dish along. Good company is priceless and worth far more than any trinket you could buy each other.

Many friends also take to making their presents for their friends. This is great on your pocket as there is no price frame in which you have to work from. You can also use crafts that you already have lying around the house such as beads, feathers and charms.

Remember, having a good festive season is more about the company you keep and treasuring the time you have with loved ones who have traveled from far and sometimes abroad, simply to spend time with you.

Losing sight of this by thinking you have to wrestle as many presents as you can into your car, can be both financially and ethically illogical. With the correct perspective, your holiday season will be stress free and without the remorseful January when your credit card lays about in cinders.
Celebrities / Kim Kardashian Is Eating Her Own Placenta To Ward Off Postpartum Depressionphoto by prettydynamic: 9:51am On Dec 15, 2015
Kim Kardashian West is keeping her fans updated on life after having her son, Saint West.

The new mum shared on her website that she her placenta converted into pills which she takes every day in a bid to ward off postpartum depression.
She apparently did the same thing after the birth of North West.

She wrote:

So, I’m really not this holistic person or someone who would have ever considered eating my placenta,’ ‘And when I say “eat my placenta,” I mean that I’m having it freeze-dried and made into a pill form- not actually fry it like a steak and eat it (which some people do, BTW).”I thought, why not try it? What do I have to lose?’

‘I really didn’t want the baby blues and thought I can’t go wrong with taking a pill made of my own hormones- made by me, for me’.

‘I started researching and read about so many moms who felt this same way and said the overall healing process was so much easier.’ I had great results and felt so energized and didn’t have any signs of depression! I definitely had to do it again. ‘Every time I take a pill, I feel a surge of energy and feel really healthy and good. I totally recommend it for anyone considering it!’

Romance / Why Is It So Hard To Get Over Your First Love? by prettydynamic: 12:56pm On Dec 14, 2015
There has been a constant myth surrounding the issue of ‘first love’ and the fact (or should I say theory) that you never get over them. Could this be true?

Are there really people we can’t get over in terms of relationship? There are various reasons why people don’t end up with their first loves. The reason could be genuine or flimsy. Two of such reasons are painted in the scenarios below. Although, this is inconclusive, there are still varied, genuine or complex reasons why people don’t end up with the ‘first’ real persons their heart beat for.

Ok…you had this dashing gentleman falling all over you, and for a while he seemed like the perfect fit for you – the missing rib. All of a sudden, you discover during pre-marital counselling/checks that you have genotype incompatibility. You both walk away with heavy hearts but still madly in love with each other. Years later, both of you are married to different people but the feelings come rushing back for real each time you run into each other across town. You are already hugging, almost kissing and cracking old jokes before you know it.

Or you fell in love with a great dude, the feeling was mutual. He was everything you wished for in a man, he could go the extra mile for you. You were sure that the relationship was heading towards marriage. But, life happened and for whatever flimsy excuse, guy impregnated his side chick and you were devastated. You wondered where you went wrong. Guy seemed to love you endlessly. The funny thing is, he still came back for you after marrying the girl. He obviously isn’t so in love with her. And you can’t get over him either. He makes your head spin and your heart melt just by hearing his voice. He regrets marrying her, he calls you up night and day. He’s not asking to marry you but he feels safe with you, he talks about the good times, he shares all his dreams and aspirations with you.

Hmmm, what is it about first loves that is so binding? Why do people say they can’t get over their first love? Is it really true you can’t get over a first love if you’ve ever had one? I know people who dated and married only one person – the only guy who asked them out. They had no exes or heartbreak whatsoever. But for people who went through the dating experience – had some heartbreaks, but are now in a good place, happily married or happily dating or happily unattached at the moment – what was your experience about first love?

Does it really exist? The interesting part is that some people would have dated 2 or 3 people before meeting the love of their lives, the one who knocks them off their feet and they classify the one they really love as their ‘first’, even though he/she didn’t actually come first in their dating life.

To the married or dating, do you secretly yearn for your first love or you still relish the memories in private? If you are dating someone other than your first love, do you sometimes wish you could go back to him or her?

The most interesting part I want to know is to ask those that seemed to be able to bury the memories of their first love or any special person they had dated in the past and are so loving the person they ended up with. This is really going to be interesting. Let’s solve this age-long myth once and for all. I will be waiting to read insightful and engaging comments about your experiences and whether you believe ‘first love’ exists, or it’s just a growing fad among the existing generation.
