Robbery Squad Tuesday morning arrested embattled
lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi
West senatorial district.
The lawmaker, according to reliable sources, was
arrested by the SARS and subsequently detained in a
facility located opposite the old CBN junction along
the Area 1 Expressway.
The SARS detention facility is known for imprisoning
hardened criminals arrested for theft, murder, cultism

NEWS DIGEST – A alleged jilted suitor, Mr Muntari Idris, on Thursday appealed to a Sharia court at Magajin Gari in Kaduna State to help him to recover N68,000 he spent on his ex-fiancee.

Idris, who resides at Kawo, told the court that he got engaged to Miss Ummahani Manji in 2016 and paid N25,000 to her guardian, Mr Abdullahi Tarazo, as dowry, but she abandoned him.

Court adjourns unlawful detention suit filed against DSS

NEWS DIGEST – The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday adjourned hearing in the case of illegal detention filed by David Nwawuisi against the Department of State Service (DSS) until June 6.

Nwawuisi, an engineer by profession, was arrested in connection with his purported involvement with the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in 2015.

Justice Gabriel Kolawole adjourned the case as the defendants were absent, and ordered issuance of fresh hearing notice before the adjourned date.

NEWS DIGEST – Unknown gunmen on Wednesday killed four construction workers at Angwan-Rogo village in Jebu-Miango area of Bassa, Plateau State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the workers were fetching sand for an ongoing construction work when the gunmen attacked them.

Confirming the attack, Mr Terna Tyopev, spokesman of the Police Command in Plateau, told NAN that the attack took place “around 11 a.m.”

NEWS DIGEST – The Police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 62-year-old man, Sikiru Gbadamosi in an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly enticing two teenage girls with money in exchange for sex.

The accused, a resident of 8 Araromi St., Beach Area in Ikorodu community is standing trial on a count charge of sexual assault.

The two teenage girls, aged 11 years and 13 years old respectively also resided in the accused neighbourhood.

By this appointment, Keyamo becomes the official spokesperson for Buhari’s campaign for the 2019 presidential poll.

NEWS DIGEST – Mrs Patience Oniha, Director-General, Debt Management Office, said in Lagos on Friday that the Federal Government had released about N400bn government securities into the economy to service its debt and improve liquidity.

Oniha made the assertion at the 2nd Vanguard Economic Discourse tagged; “Economy in Rebound: Pitfalls, Trajectories and Resetting.’’

She said the fund was government’s strategy to reduce its debt profile and reduce interest rate on government’s lending from 18 per cent to 14 per cent.

NEWS DIGEST – The Nigeria Customs Service on Thursday night in Sokoto raided a warehouse in Sokoto and impounded 48 vehicles said to be illegally imported into the country.

CXThe vehicles, made up of old model Lexus jeeps (2007 model) and Toyota Avensis (2005 model), were seized from one Mustapha Muhammed, popularly known as Mustapha Mafia, a member of Sokoto branch of Car Dealers Association of Nigeria.

Inside sources at the Customs headquarters said the vehicles were smuggled into the country in batches between December and March this year by Mr Mafia.
