It seems a good news for nigeria polytechnics students to get themselves set for lectures after a very long period of staying idle @ home due to the ASUP indefinite strike. Clement Chirman, the National Publicity Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has confirmed that the body has called off its 10-month-old strike. The strike which began in October last year, was suspended during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union held on Saturday morning. http://www.google.com/url?q=http://dailypost.ng/2014/07/12/breaking-asup-strike-called-polytechnics-resume-next-week/&sa=U&ei=ZiHBU9GmHseAPdqxgfgC&ved=0CBYQFjAD&sig2=MPGrFuAyk3BIztNnx7Obog&usg=AFQjCNG8xgsYyORAT3R1sqQ54276Pp2BKA

Despite his love for the masses, his unrelenting effort for democracy, his humility and love for a #oneNigeria Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola died a mysterious death that was full of speculations arguements and even @ the verge of success Chief Mko you live in our heart always as the hero of democratic Nigeria but the question remains who is the person or group of persons that masterminded and executed the betraying murder of the UNEQUALLED HERO.
|
From 1972 until his death Moshood Abiola had been conferred with 197 traditional titles by 68 different communities in Nigeria, in response to the fact that his financial assistance resulted in the construction of 63 secondary schools, 121 mosques and churches, 41 libraries, 21 water projects in 24 states of Nigeria, and was grand patron to 149 societies or associations in Nigeria. Moshood Abiola was twice voted worldwide businessman of the year, and gained various honorary doctorates from universities all over the world. The children of the world shall know the great work of this extraordinary leader and his fervent mission to right wrong, to do justice, and to serve mankind. The enemies which imperil the future of generations to come: poverty, ignorance, disease, hunger, and racism have each seen effects of the valiant work of Chief Abiola. Through him and others like him, never again will freedom rest in the domain of the few. We, the members of the Congressional Black Caucus salute him this day as a hero in the global pursuit to preserve the history and the legacy of the African diaspora”

At the age of 19 he joined the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons apparently as a result of its container Africanist office, inclining toward it to the Obafemi Awolowo-led Action Group's keep focus on investment and educational advancement for the Western Region of Nigeria, where the Yoruba were in the majority. These I saw online and got me so freaked to the foot so I decided to share it with you 1 Frog-like Baby (unidentified baby - Nepal) In 2006, this bizarre-looking baby was born in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness the astonishing sight. The neck-less baby with its head almost totally sunk into the upper part of the body and with extraordinarily large eyeballs literally popping out of the eye-sockets, was born to Nir Bahadur Karki and Suntali Karki at the Gaurishnkar Hospital in Charikot. The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha's Bhirkot VDC. The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death. The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd. The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby's death. "I am happy that nothing happened to my wife," he said. NOTE: Our readers, Becca and Andrew, report us that "the baby has a condition called anencephaly, a neural tube defect (like the cyclops baby), with no proper brain formation. The baby would have died a few days later. That's why women are advised to take folate in early pregnancy." --Thank you! 2 13-inch Tailed Man (Chandre Oram - India) With a 13-inch tail, Chandre Oram, a tea-estate worker, has become quite an object of devotion in his native Alipurduar, West Bengal and believes that Hanuman is manifest in him. "I was born on Ram Navami (birthday of Lord Ram). People have a lot of faith in me - they get cured of severe ailments when they touch my tail. I believe I can do a lot of good to those who come to me with devotion," says the man, before whom thousands of people queue up each day to seek blessings. In a corner of the courtyard of his home, Oram has set up a small Hanuman temple, where he receives offerings on Ram Navami, which he later offers to the deity. NOTE: video suggested by our reader Luke, thank you! However, because of the tail, Oram has found it difficult to get a bride. "Almost 20 women have turned down marriage proposals. They see me and agree to a match. But as soon as I turn around, they see my tail and leave. But I have decided I will marry the woman who accepts me and my tail. Or else, I'll remain a bachelor like Hanuman," he said. Oram's family is proud of his tail and has turned down offers from doctors for its removal by surgery. "He will not survive without his tail. It has become part of his being, his existence," said Rekha, his sister. Doctors say that true tails are rare. But they are located in the coccygeal end of the vertebral column whereas Oram's tail shoots out from the lumbar region. "The coccyx is a vestige in humans and we stopped growing tails from that region a long time ago when we evolved from monkeys. Oram's case seems an aberration, an offshoot of a congenital defect," said eminent surgeon Dr B Ramana. The medical community reads the monkey man's case as a spina bifida -- a defect in the bone of the spine covered by a hole with lots of hair covering it. 3 Cyclop Baby (unidentified baby - India) In 2006, this baby was born with a only one eye in India. Medical staff who helped deliver the child believe that the child's condition was caused by an experimental anti-cancer drug. Another cause written in the report by the hospital was that it could also be the result of a chromosomal disorder. The child was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal disorder, known as cyclopia. She was born with a single eye in the center of her forehead, no nose and her brain fused into a single hemisphere. With such severe deformities, it was a miracle that the girl survived even a few minutes after delivery. The baby died days later. 4 World's Largest Hand (Lui Hua - China) Lui Hua suffers from a rare condition known as macrodactyly. When he was hospitalized in Shanghai on July 2007, his left thumb measured 10.2 inches and his index finger measured close to 12. On July 20 surgeons undertook a seven-hour operation to reduce the size of Liu's fingers and thumb. Doctors removed 11 pounds of flesh and bone in the procedure. A second surgery is scheduled to take place. Enlarged limbs can be caused by a number of medical conditions. Lymphedema is perhaps the most common cause and results in some extraordinarily enlarged limbs. 5 Feet facing backwards (Wang Fang - China) Wang Fang, 27, of Chongqing city in China, was born with her feet facing the wrong way. She has learned to live with her condition without problems and recently refused a disability pension by being classified as disabled. "I can run faster than most of my friends and have a regular job as a waitress in the family restaurant. There is no reason to class me as disabled." 6 Baby with Three Arms (Liu Junjie - China) This 2-month-old baby named Liu Junjie from Anhui Province, China, was born with a third arm in 2006. Doctors successfully removed the extremely rare and well-developed third arm, but the baby required long-term physical therapy to gain function in his remaining hand, which has no palm and flexes in either direction. "We're hoping to exchange information with doctors who've dealt with similar cases anywhere in the world," said Chen, head of the orthopedics department at Shanghai Children's Medical Center. "This is so rare that we have virtually no information to go on." 7 Nipple on the foot (unidentified 22-year-old woman - Brazil) The bizarre paper describing the case reads: "A 22-year-old woman sought medical care for a lesion in the plantar region of her left foot, a well-formed nipple surrounded by areola and hair. Microscopic examination of the dermis showed hair follicles, eccrine glands, and sebaceous glands. Fat tissue was noted at the base of the lesion. Clinical and histopathologic findings were consistent with the diagnosis of supernumerary breast tissue, also known as pseudomamma. To our knowledge, this is the first report of supernumerary breast tissue on the foot." Source: http://www.oddee.com/item_92015.aspx

Everybody was surprised when Michael Essien handed the captain’s armband to John Obi Mikel on that Sunday. Even Jose Mourinho admitted after the game that by right Ashley Cole should have received it when the Ghanaian was substituted. But Mikel and Cole were both signed by Mourinho in July 2006 and it’s clear that the former, rather than the latter, will play the more crucial part in a Chelsea title bid. During the past seven-and-a-half years, since signing as a 19-year-old, Mikel has matured immensely. He’s 26 at the moment – 27 in April – and approaching the peak of his career. Everybody was even more surprised, on Sunday, when Mikel scored; his header was only his fourth Chelsea goal, arriving in his 300th game. Mikel is the fourth non-British player to reach that total for Chelsea, behind undisputed club legends Petr Cech (459 appearances), Didier Drogba (341) and Gianfranco Zola (312). He has been consistently selected since he joined, by no less than eight managers. Mourinho, Hiddink, Ancelotti and the rest can’t all be wrong. And yet Mikel still divides opinion among Chelsea supporters. Many chide him if he ever misplaces a pass and wonders what he adds to the team. Perhaps this is a hangover from his early, ill-disciplined days, where he would lunge in rashly for tackles and pick up red cards. The transfer itself was controversial; he had signed for Manchester United from Lyn Oslo, but Chelsea had agreed a deal with his agent. A press conference where Mikel sported a Red Devils’ shirt only clouded the matter and after lengthy legal wrangles, Chelsea eventually emerged with their prize – at a cost of £4million to Lyn and £12m to United. Subsequently, Lyn director Morgan Andersen was convicted of fraud and Chelsea issued a High Court Claim against him and the club, to try and recoup the money. The matter was settled out of court, confidentially, but it likely means that Chelsea paid less than £16m for the defensive midfielder – a pittance given his service over the years. It did not appear that way at first though; despite Mourinho putting his faith in Mikel, playing him 42 times in his debut season in England, the player’s attitude was not quite right. He was late to training a handful of times and on the pitch some of his decision making left plenty to be desired. Mikel was booked nine times and sent off twice in 2006-07, and had two reds the following season with eight bookings (39 games). He hasn’t been red carded since, and now averages seven yellow cards a season. As his discipline improves, his awareness of the game and his surroundings increases as well. Or perhaps it’s the other way around. Mikel is composed – he can receive the ball under pressure from several opposition players, drawing them in, before sliding it along to a team-mate in a better position. This draws criticism that he can only pass sideways or backwards, but if Chelsea are trying to keep possession those balls are crucial. He is a player that Chelsea’s defence can trust to come deep and sit in amongst them if needed, someone who never hides and will always make himself available for a pass. You notice when Mikel does make a mistake or misplace a pass, because it’s so rare for him to do so. Mikel is the best screen in front of the defence that Chelsea have – and is one of the best in the world at this role. Ramires makes plenty of tackles but when he’s left as the most defensive player in the Blues’ midfield, they can look exposed. P.S. This fan was so sure that Mikel was not going to score, before the game he pledged that he’d get a tattoo of the midfielder’s name on his backside if he did. And, when the unlikely came off, he followed through with his promise… Mikel had really given is best quota to nigerians as a good citizen(if not in any other tornament the just concluded AFCON is a good example where Mikel was our hero) mikel would still perform more but the good citizens of Nigeria should stop capitalizing on a simple short comings to start tagging a hero with bad names. Mikel is an hidden gem which could only be enjoyed through appreciation. Many europeans appreciates Mikel to the magnitude of tatooing their bums with his name. Nigerians let's appreciates what we have got and soon we will see the return of Austin Jay Jay Okocha in Mikel.

This is the detail of the chaos that happened in palm groove this morning and the soldier was confirmed dead.this is d picture of the unfortunate soldier. |
So it's been confirmed that a BRT bus killed a soldier at Palmgrove bus stop in Palmgrove, Lagos this morning, which caused the soldier rampage. The BRT driver who hit the soldier ran into Palmgrove estate in order to avoid the wrath of other soldiers present. Upon noticing that the driver ran away, the Army men ran into Palmgrove estate and when they couldn't find the driver, seized one of the Estate's security men. According to eye-witnesses, the soldiers beat the man mercilessly and took him away. He was released hours later badly beaten and traumatized. He had nothing to do with the incident but paid for it. Sad! Heard they even burnt down a BRT bus. Is their anger justified? |
