Over 3,400 members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, who are loyalists of the former candidate of the PDP in the October 20, 2012 governorship election in the state, Chief Olusola Oke, have defected to the All Progressives Congress. Oke had earlier defected to the APC. At the event to mark the defection held in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, the defectors said they took the decision to leave the PDP because of the mismanagement that the party had perpetrated in the country in the past 16 years of its reign. Addressing the defectors, Oke, who defected to the APC shortly after the last Presidential election, said the time had come for all Ilaje sons and daughters to dump the PDP, which he said, had brought untold hardship to the people in the country. He added, “I am ashamed of being a member of a party that has plunged the country into calamity. With the revelation coming out now, I have to apology to my teeming supporters and Nigerians that my former party brought Nigeria to her knees.” Oke, a former National Legal Adviser of the PDP, declared that the change that had taken root at the federal level, would soon berth in the state in the 2016 governorship election and the local government poll later in the year. He said, “The change that had taken over Nigeria will come to Ondo State. This is the time for change in Ondo State. It is not good for this state to be in opposition to the Federal Government and hence this state must be in tandem with the government at the centre. We want to take over the government both at the state and local government levels.” A former leader of the PDP in the riverside areas of Ilaje, Mr. Glory Okuntade, while speaking on behalf of other defectors, said they were leaving PDP because they had nothing to show their teeming supporters in the area in terms of development that their membership of PDP had brought to them. Ibori- the enough is enough crusade ![]() Kai, Nigerians, we are a special breed. They have just announced a major crusade tagged ‘enough is enough’to pray for the immediate release of Chief Ibori from prison. I support this crusade wholeheartedly simply because I once met him at a wedding and shook him. He was a very charismatic figure who walked in the regal posture of an all conquering Emperor, so he does not deserve to be in jail at all. He deserves to be the new MD of NNPC. What is it sef? Why is hestill in prison, is his offense the biggest, after all those who are today shouting change are no better. ![]() He should be released so he can come and contribute his own quota to national development. If Ibori was out now, we would not be reporting 38% pass rate in WAEC, he would have intervened in the fight between Amadu Pinick and Stephen Keshi. I beg all Nigerians to join this crusade and pray fervently for the immediate release of chief Ibori . On secondthoughts Buhari goes, because I cannot pray and fast two times. We don’t want for him to be released only for Buhari to throw him back into a local jail. Abeg, let’s wait till Buhari finish his term before we commence this crusade o. Na beg. Boko Haram in Lagos? ![]() One Military Chief has just told us of how they arrested Boko Haram people in Lagos. One atthe Airport and the other in Apapa. I thank God not in Shomolu. You see, it’s not that I am afraid of them but as a man with too many kurukere moves, how will I explain to my wife that I was blown up at the female hostel in Unilag, when I was supposed to be at work, working late. That has always been my fear for all these suicide bombers who do not give people enough time to prepare before they are blown up . So it is justwell that the military have shown enough capacity to stop them in Lagos, please they should continue to do this good job and if there is any way I can be of help they should not hesitate to ask me. They can send me a mail through Fasholas website. Laugh want kill me, N78m website wey no fit catch one terrorist. ![]() |

A former Chairman of Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters, Senator Aloysius Etok, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to introduce what he termed ‘self amnesty programme’ for looters of the nation’s treasury. Etok, who represented Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District at the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015, said the idea is to enable those who looted the country’s funds from the different sectors to willingly return what is left of their loot. The senator commended the efforts of President Buhari in tackling corruption. He said as a senator he started the anti-graft war with pension fund managers that had looted the money meant for pensioners. Explaining his idea of the self amnesty programme in Calabar, Etok said those who looted the nation’s treasury as being gradually revealed by the President Buhari-led administration should be allowed to bring back to government coffers what they have left. He said “Let us have self amnesty programme for those who looted the economy. If for instance you have stolen N6 and you have eaten N2, you should be allowed to return the N4 that is left. That should be the starting point.” Punch Nigeria
