JAMB is NOT a certificate examination, so they do notgive candidates RAW SCORE. JAMB does what they call score standardization/normalization. It is based on the number of candidates that sat for a particular subject, the mean deviation of candidates that sat for that subject and it is finally passes through a graph so selection will not be difficult. The graph musn't be too to the left or right, if it happens that its too to the left or right, JAMB adjusts d graph to their own scale. A candidate may get 80/100 as RAW score bt when the score is standardized, it ends up beign like 60-75, depending on the values involved. JAMB uses a certain formula to translate the RAW score of candidates to a STANDARDIZED SCORE.

Cos many of us as students after writin, we calculate our scores b4 the arrival of the results proper..and wen d result arrives we see and we knw that our initial score line was minimize due to wat jamb call negative markin and this is becos this are the golden age of scholars. Since they knw that with the normal or formal marking system, many nowadays students will hit theheadlines wit maximum scores from different angles..Knwin this, they devised a new strategy by using whatis called negative markin... And we believe is what they do now becos wen we write or finish writin, gettinhome..there is this stream of examination consciousness that normally possess everywell to do student, which is that.. We begin to knw what our errors are and from there we knw what score we re to expect as our result..
