Igbo women usually have big personal (to go abroad, higher institutions, climb to the apex in carear or business, have their own car, mansion, train her siblings, build a house for her mum etc) projects/ambitions (which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing), the tenacious will, self-believe and know how to pursue it. When the collective ambition does not align or serve with the personal perhaps not fast enough its harder for them to jettison it and they more easily become inclined to sacrifice the collective quest or employ some underhand manoeuvres to go about pursing the personal projects.
Sure women from other tribes can have such ideas but the will, self believe (that she can achieve them with or without the man cum the collective ambition) and vigour in pursing them and not relegate them in the face of unaligned collective ambition is more pronounced in the average Igbo woman.

These ideals and orientation they can induce in other women in their company.

The Boko Haram ideology comes from a twisted interpretation of islamic tenets. It does not reflect mainstream islam just as you have multiple doctrinal interpretations in Christianity some of which donot reflect mainstream Christianity. If a certain Christian group goes rogue as a result of doctrinal error, I don't think it will make sense to try and counter that ideology with an entirely different religion they probably know nothing off. It will only worsen the situation.

To solution to weaken that group will be to attack the fringe elements with the proper islamic interpretation of their actions in a deliberate manner as to reform or elevate their thinking. It is dangerous because the hierachy will immediately notice is and seek to neutralise that but if it is done in a massively coordinated fashion it will be effective.

The solutions to this problem lies where it is domiciled. The people of that region have to stop running and start speaking the right things to win over the hearts and minds of theor fellow citizens. The government has to fashion deliberate programmes to counter the toxic Boko Haram ideology.

Unfortunately usually you like many others acclaimed intelligent people with a good dose of political correctness do not understand/appreciate Islam and take an emperical liberal albeit naive view towards it. Well, I do blame you too much the subterfuge is so perfect webbed that it may not be easy to discern.
Islam especially when in majority almost always involves a violent wing unless its countered by Christianity, some other religion or is embedded and executed by/as government. What boko haram is doing is part and parcel of Islam infact its the quest for government based on "pure" form of Islam as described in the Koran and the means to such government has always been violent take off by violent wing of Islam like boko haram.

The so-called main stream Islam you harp occurs where islamist are not yet in overwhelming population or where they already have the government in their pocket most times by violent take-over already.
Just because such violent wing for violent government take-over usually occurs/ postponed until / restricted to when islamists are in great majority and the government isn't fully Islamic to make the government so is where they hinge on to deceive gullible minds.

You may ascribe some terms to me for writing this - - right wing extremist, islamophobe etc or try to go all political correct to explain it away invoking Christianity trying to make both look similar while they are actually opposite but las las na simple truth. Here is the difference Islamists do violent government take-over when in mega-majority as a matter of almost certainty and work towards it even when not in majority winning souls through "main stream" Islam even through emotional blackmail playing victims when in minority until..... So its simple you don't allow Islam garner population by allowing a counter religion Christianity to thrive if Christianity gets stifled long enough for Islam to thrive long enough, government take-over aka Islamic government ensues usually by means of violent wing of Islam. Another unappreciated dimension of it is that their brothers from far and wide especially from regions of so called lovely main stream Islam can throng long distances just to go be willing tools whereever the jihad violent take-over ( last stage of Islamic conquest) has be ignited and is happening. So even in main stream Islam the concept if jihad is well thought and their minds prepared for it beyond regional geographical boundaries. Hence the huge funds required to run such violent Islamic wings long enough usually come from....... quest where........ "your beloved" main stream Islamic regions/ Islamists!

Like I often said, you simply cannot defeat an ideologically driven movement by military means alone.

C'mon Nigerians, is it not becauee the citizens of this country donot have an ideology aka collective set of values it is so easy to divide, conquer and misrule us. When a set of people believe in something so strongly it forms their thought process and permeates deep to reflect in their lifestyle it them becomes extremely hard for them to be contained.

What smart governments do is to sift ideology from mere impulsive criminality. Send criminality through the criminal justice system but for ideology the only way to defeat it is to counter it with a better one. But to lump everything together and try smashing it with a hammer will simply not work. Boko Haram will not go away easily. They will continue eating away at the resolve of the mikitary and this country for as long as the candle of their warped ideology remains lit. And they have perhaps an unlimited supply of idle minds to tap into.

The government needs to engage with them non militarily. I don't mean the hierachy but the rank and file. You will be surprised that the further away the average foot soldier is from the leadership the less he or she will believe in 'the cause', just like in any religious setup. They will have elders, deacons but they wil also have mere church goers who will flip at the slight cgange change in attraction. These are the folks the government should go after. Sow a counter ideology in them and let it rot the system from within.

You will be surprised how many factions the group will be broken into with better containment prospects. My two cents.
