Naughtyvirgin:
Hello house...i am new on here , I have been following previous trends though ...
I'm actually a graduate with a B.sc in Biochemistry , I had a cgpa of 2.07..i have an interest to study nursing but I'm in the United states, but because i know my cgpa is quite low it might deter me, so I'm opting for this year's SAT so as to apply as a freshman , I just need an expert or experienced person candid advise on this

This is the way to analyse the questions and the options.
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:38am On Feb 22, 2018
'Voices' implies 'noisy and distracting'

Does it not?
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:36am On Feb 22, 2018
I think it's now easy to figure out that the answer here is A.
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:33am On Feb 22, 2018
Now, let's examine question 4. The question is rather asking for the cause of the impression Lymie had.
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:31am On Feb 22, 2018
Therefore, he had an impression.
The verb "caused" implies that "he had an impression".
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op):
Something happened to Lymie's mind here and 'he skimmed' and 'he failed to know.'
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:40pm On Feb 21, 2018
Now, let's examine option C.
"But it was the women's voices, the terrible not quite sober pitch of the women's voices which caused Lymie to skim over two whoe pages without knowing what was on them."
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op):
None of the verbs in that quotation has Lymie as its object.
Nothing "had" him. He wasn't "shingled". And neither was he "exposed".
And besides, none of these verbs may mean or imply "impression" or "impressed upon".
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:23pm On Feb 21, 2018
Or, do you have a contrary opinion?
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:23pm On Feb 21, 2018
Obviously, the answer is NO?
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:22pm On Feb 21, 2018
What tells you that Lymie had an impression in that one? Does any word in that quotation do that?
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:21pm On Feb 21, 2018
What of option A? "The women had shingled hair ........... they sat down."
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:19pm On Feb 21, 2018
Am I correct to say that I believe you will agree with me that nothing in that quotation says that Lymie had an impression. Instead of something or someone "impressing upon or affecting or acting on Lymie" in any way, he was the one that acted upon something.
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 1:00pm On Feb 21, 2018
How was he impressed upon here?
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:59pm On Feb 21, 2018
Now look at option D: "Lymie closed the book."
EducationRe: A Typical Whatsapp Tutorial With A Student Preparing For The Next Sat Exam by privatetisa(op): 12:57pm On Feb 21, 2018
privatetisa:
Is Lymie's mind being affected or impressed upon here? In fact, is there any word that means or imples "impressed upon or affected" in that quotation?
Obviously, the answer is NO.
