dbiljmer:. Salam @ OP. 1. I refer you to Surat Ankabut ( the Spider) in the holy Quran where Allah (SWT) in the first verse says "Ahasiban Nasu.... Do people think we would not test them simply because they say they believe (in Allah & the rasool (SWT)." Also see the next verse to know what Allah promises those who are patient and perserve. 2. I also heard of a Hadith where Rasool lillah (SWT) said on the day of judgement , people's unanswered duas shall be brought to them and converted to good deeds such that when they see the quantity of good deeds arising from their unanswered duas they shall say "O how I wish Allah (SWT) never answered a single dua of mine while I was on earth". 3. Now, I can deduce that all your " unanswered" duas are related to worldly things.Perhaps, good health,a good job,Wife, family, real estate etc (since you cannot tell if those of the hereafter have been answered until you get there ). We can both agree that all the things you are praying for are "a means to an end". As an example , a good job doesnt guarantee financial security, a good house doesnt guarantee comfort or security nor does good health guarantee enjoying life, the list goes on and on. The point here is that our worldly prayers are for means to make our ends meet. But are we sure the means we pray for ,if granted shall give us a happy end ? 4. I ll advise you to be steadfast in saying the istigiffar and Hamd-a-Allah. You shall be surprised by how Allah (SWT) shall provide alternative and better means to achieving your final goals in life and in the hereafter-Insha Allah. Wallahu ala kullu shai in kadir. |
These pictures have been making the rounds. They are shiite members offering sacrifices and reciting the holy Quran in front of a pit of burning fire. They are allegedly doing it so that PMB shall not return back to Nigeria and whoever takes over to release their leader. My own analysis from the pictures: 1. The girls in the background are certainly dressed like the shiites. 2. The young men pictured are not well versed in the teachings of Islam because there is nowhere that voodoo practices are condoned. e.g reading the Quran in front of a burning fire. 3. If their desire is truly for Elzazzaky to be released- the death of PMB cannot guarantee that. Finally, I wish Baba Buhari a quick recovery and a safe return back home. Our collectivw prayers are much stronger than any voodoo practices.

Sorry about your loss....especially in this hard times. An important lesson here is that you should NEVER give your card to another person. One of the terms of use is that it may only be used by an authorised signatory to the attached account. Having breached that by giving your sister the card to use, you still have hope of at least tracing the crook (even if you do not eventually get a refund) Plead with the Bank to give you details of the swapped card...its a good point to start from. |
Thanks for your calls and text message.....pls keep them coming. |
hary158:Sorry Sir, thats way below the value of this sweet baby.... Why dont you inspect the car ? I m sure you would have a change of heart then ! |

To be honest with ourselves, how many of us would accept a bundle of 50 naira from our Bank when withdrawing? very few I guess. Secondly, this low bills are costly to process i.e count, store and destroy when they eventually become mutilated. This means Banks avoid them, the general public avoids them too. Then I wonder who wants them. When they are new, everyone wants them. But the truth is most Banks give the notes to their high value customers only. Can you remember the last time your Bank paid you with new notes? Well,a single high net worth customer can request for millions in low denomination bills and the Bank makes a special withdrawal from CBN and give him. What does he do with them? Takes them home opens his drawer or safe and keeps them.Only to be sprayed at occassions. I think it all boils down to the Nigerian factor that has crept into all facets of our life. For a fact the CBN prints alot of low denomination bills cuz it's also a money making venture for them. From issuing out the contract to foreign companies, transporting it in chartered flights, distributing it to various states, destroying it when it becomes mutilated. Why do you think the National Assembly almost ran mad when they say the CBN budget?! It's worth more than any state of the federation's budget. And guess what, they were not given anything..... this is a gist for another day. |
Slimmos: pls dis question may sound foolish...but it's has been on my mind for a very long time and am always ashame to ask d question openlyYour question is not foolish to start with. It only borders on the knowledge of Economics as adiscipline. You see money as a legal tender has no value in itself rather it has an intrinsic or derivative value if you like. In a layman's language we can say money is only worth what it can buy.E.g if the government was to mint currency and credit every citzen's account then there'll be no need for production! imagine the farmer getting millions for doing nothing or the danfo driver or even your Company/school lecturers. It would then make no meaning to farm, drive, teach or do anything else! you can then imagine what would happen in the country. Therefore, money has production as it's underlying value. If on the other hand everyone in Nigeria with a population of about 160million should get a free 1000 only naira without doing anything (pls do the arithmetics) there would be controllable inflation but if that amount is multiplied by say 100 there could be hyper inflation. If you go to the market to buy tomatoes at 50 naira today by tommorrow you might buy it at 100 naira. Why? the tomato seller has the same free money you have too, so there is really no need to suffer and produce more. Secondly, if you are sensible enough not to buy at the exhorbitant price, the next person might not be. besides he also has free money to spend as he likes. Why do you think we are where we are today? free money of course! people looting billions year in year out without being productive. It hope you get d gist, |
DerideGull: And what would be the proper procedure? For your own guidance please refer to the CBN 2007 act. The CB Governor reports directly to the President! Not the Finace Minister.I cannot therefore link your example of " a mere treasurer. ..." to the issue at hand. |
Was scammed about 2 years ago.The amount was insignificant but we derived some good learning points- one of which is the havoc a confident fraudster can easily wreak! It was on a Saturday and we were having a meeting in a confined building to discuss the then emerging security challenges in some states of northern Nigeria.Security at the venue I must say was more than adequete. Attendees included Securities officers from various states, Yobe, Bauchi, Borno, Kano, etc. It's tea time and some of us having finished taking ours' return to the meeting room and start gisting waiting for others.A tall lanky guy walks into the room says something to a colleague seated behind us and then moves to where. three of us are gisting. Lanky guy : Oga are you going back today? Me : No why? Lanky guy : There seems to be fuel scarcity in town. Most of the drivers are going to refuel.I thought I should let you people know cuz there is a filling station just around the corner.Would be a good a good idea if all the drivers went together. Me: ahh. There'll be no need. I stay in Kaduna.... but wait o. I have a jerry can let me give you so you can get me 20 litters for my generator. colleague no 1: why dont you get me 20 litters too it should be enough to take me back. This one that we dont even know when we ll be finishing. Colleague no 2:ahh! fuel scarcity? abeg wen you come back come and collect my keys during lunch and help me refuel. lanky guy : ok Sir. collects 2k from me and another 2k from my colleague. me : here are my keys. my car is the blue Toyota parked behind the second security post. the plate number is. ... .open the trunk and then take out the 50 littres jerry can. lanky guy : there'll be no need sir. i already have a jerry can in my own trunk. i'll just pour the fuel into yours when I come back and then the remaining into oga's car. colleague. no 2: dont forget to come and collect my keys during lunch. It's lunch break and I take a walk to the drivers' shed to check on our man since he refused to come inside to give us an update.I look around but cant find him. I describe him but no one seems to know him or which state he came from. I get back to the meeting room and find the person behind us he spoke to in the morning. I ask him where his driver is. and he informs me that he drove himself to the meeting. Ahhh! but what of the tall lanky guy I saw you discussing with in the morning? ! After a small thought he tells me that the guy was asking after one oga Segun from Jos. And he told him he does not know him. I told him what happened and he recalled seeing us giving him some cash so he felt i must have been the person he was looking for. I called my two other colleagues and update them. We start by thanking God that he did not run away with my car or that of my second colleague. Now, we realised that there was a serious security breach. An unauthorised person had been able to break into a highly restricted area and had even duped us. That means if he had wanted to bomb or shoot us, we'd have been dead since morning. Someone had to pay for this! Since my colleagues were leaving town after the meeting, I was saddled with the responsibilty of investigating how he was able to get inside and pretend to be a driver. Later found out that he claimed to have come from Jos with one Oga Segun and his Id card was in their car which was in our compound. Then at the second gate he claimed he had wanted to go inside and collect their car keys so he can get his Id card and some cash to go back and buy dried fish for the same oga. When he came out he told them he had collected the cash and was on his way to the market but would be back before close of the meeting as they would be going back that same day.Needless to say, the boys at both gates were appropriately disciplined since they misled us by allowing him inside which gave us the confidence that he is one of us. Thankfully, the guy was spotted and apprehended in town a few weeks later by one of boys that paid the price..... I,could not recogmise his face when he wss brought in because they had made practically made him regret the day he was born! ! |
@op.can u give us a rough bill of quantaties to see how we arrived at the 2.9m Naira? Keep in mind that labour & material costs are slightly higher in Abuja. |
some Government agencies like the CBN will not even allow you resume for training until you come along with a letter of non indebtness/clearance from your former employer -they state it clearly in your offer for employment (though there is a way round this hurdle). While some Banks e.g Ecobank ll not pay you dime as gratuity until you serve them for 10yrs. The easiest way I think is to raise cash and offset the loan with his present employer. |
oath of secrecy! that`s what it`s called. violation could lead to outright dismal· so dont xpect 2 hear much from those inside. |
Organised Labour has vowed to shut down the operations of Oceanic, Intercontinental and Unity Bank over alleged non-procedural dismissal of about 200 staff members by management of the banks. To this end, all customers of the affected banks have been directed to make all necessary withdrawals on or before Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in their own interest. The two unions in the banking sector - the Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) and its junior staff counterpart, National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employee (NUBIFIE) - which gave this warning yesterday in Lagos said the industrial action will cut across all the affected banks' branches nationwide. Briefing journalists at the union's secretariat in Lagos, National President of ASSBIFI, Comrade Sunday Olusoji Salako, said the unions have already mobilised labour and civil society allies to join forces with the workers to ensure a successful action. Salako who described the recent rationalisation exercise by management of these banks as unlawful and a violation of the existing industry-wide collective bargaining agreement said the union will use all available resources at its disposal to resist the action by management. Specifically, he said the union would make the banking environment ungovernable for management until they adhere strictly to the provisions of collective bargaining agreement in accordance with Section (1) (c) of the Labour Act. Salako therefore warned management of the banks that have already dispatched letters of disengagement to their staff to reverse their actions immediately or face an industrial action whose consequences may not be good for the industry and entire nation especially as the general election draws closer. Salako further warned managements who are contemplating embarking on the same action to shelve the idea adding that it would be an open invitation to unprecedented, industrial mass action. "It is poignant to note that these banks and others have institutionalised this anti-labour policy of rationalising staff on a yearly basis like a ritual. As at today, hundreds of our members are already affected by the insensitive, cruel and arbitrary staff rationalisation exercise being embarked upon by these banks while some others are warming up to follow in their nefarious steps. At the same time, we call on the banks that have dispatched unlawful letters of disengagement to our members to reverse their action immediately, while those still contemplating to embark on un-procedural and unlawful act should shelve the idea because it would be an open invitation to unprecedented, industrial mass action. We wish to warn that if the managements of Unity Bank, Intercontinental and Oceanic Bank, refused to heed this directive of the Central Working Committee of our Association, we shall have no alternative than to ground the operations of these Banks and shut down their branches nationwide until the unlawful and unjust disengagement of our members is redressed. We call on stakeholders within the industry to put requisite pressure on these Banks and, on all their customers to withdraw whatever funds they have in the Banks before we commence our campaigns in all their branches," Salako stated. Speaking further, he said while the union recognise management's prerogative to restructure its organisation up to rationalisation, he maintained that the union reserve the legal rights to vociferously defend the rights of the affected members to befitting and due terminal benefits as prescribed by law. He lamented that rather than negotiating staff benefits, employers have thrown caution to the wind and embarked on unlawful disengagement without any provision to pay the affected staff their severance benefit. He noted that the two unions in the industry have already alerted all concerned stakeholders including the Minister of Labour and Productivity, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Inland Revenue on the obnoxious actions by management of these banks adding that so far there has been no response from the concerned group. "It is poignant to note that these Banks and others have institutionalised this anti-labour policy of rationalising staff on a yearly basis like a ritual. It is therefore, imperative to emphasise that the managements of these Banks that are reputed for this policy should concretely check and evaluate themselves to determine the success or otherwise of this annual diversionary ritual. If staff rationalisation has not helped their cause, then they should look elsewhere and formulate formidable strategy to achieve organisational goals and objectives. Pursuing the same strategy every year and expecting different result is a symptom of systemic failure on the part of the management," he added. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/labour-threatens-to-shut-3-banks/84595/ |
