A witness, Dayo Israel, who appeared before the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Tuesday has revealed that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Ibijoke, were allowed to cast their votes despite having invalid voter cards in the March 18 governorship election. Israel, who served as an agent for the Labour Party for Unit 006, Ward 15, Lagos Island Local Government, provided this testimony as part of the petition filed by the Labour Party’s candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, seeking to nullify Governor Sanwo-Olu’s return. The witness told the court that he observed the card reader indicating that Sanwo-Olu and his wife had invalid cards, yet they were still permitted to vote, which he considered a violation of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s electoral process. “I observed that the card reader showed their cards to be invalid but Sanwo-Olu and his wife were allowed to cast their votes and this is against INEC’s electoral process,” he said. Under cross-examination from counsel to INEC, Charles Edosomwan, Israel alleged that he was beaten up by All Progressives Congress supporters on election day. He claimed to have recognised them as APC supporters based on their language and stated that they threatened to beat up voters who did not vote for the APC. He said, “I am not a member of the Labour Party, but I was assigned as an agent. When the APC thugs recognised me as an LP agent, they beat me up. They also said if voters did not vote for APC, they would beat them too.” Israel further described the incident, stating that four individuals attacked him during the casting of votes, but he managed to escape, changed his clothes to disguise himself, and returned to monitor the vote counting. The witness also highlighted cases of multiple voting at the polling unit, noting that INEC officials failed to intervene despite witnessing the irregularities. The hearing on the petition has been adjourned until July 3, when the proceedings will continue. SOURCE |

It has been on the news that Nigeria is planning to launch its own cryptocurrency in October. This is after the firm ban the operations and use of cryptocurrency in the country. My questions are: What are your thoughts on this issue? Do you think it's a good idea for a crypto to be controlled by the central bank? what will this mean to the decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies? |
progoh:I really do not understand how reporters are miss leading people in this country, If you go through the report by this website, you will discover that there is different reason why EFCC arrested the staff. For instance, this part of the report: "EFCC is investigating the company to find out if they are operating in accordance with the information provided to Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) during registration in Nigeria" The company reportedly registered as Software Development and General Contracting Firm without any license from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) to operate financial system. This shows that the office was invaded because of noncompliance issue not scam, reason being that the company did not register as a financial institution but it is carrying on financial services, that is the reason for the invasion, but our local media are miss leading us by trying to make us believe the company scammed their investors. In the real sense of it, the company has not shut down their services yet they tagged them scammers, the only thing I see there is the unusual return of investment. |
The story is everywhere, but this cryptocurrency website reported it differently. See their report: https://www.cryptoinformers.info/news/10421-nigerian-efcc-arrested-19-bluekeycoin-team-members-over-alleged-57m-fraud The Nigerian Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arrested 19 team members of cryptocurrency start-up Bluekey Technologies Limited, owners of Bluekey Coin over alleged N2 billion (worth $5.7M) scam. Cryptoinformers learnt that the Port Harcourt Zone of EFCC invaded the start-up's office located at Sonia Mall, 42 Worji Road, YKC Junction, Port Harcourt on Aug. 30, and arrested 19 staff, taking their laptops and about $1300 along with some documents. Spokesman of the agency Wilson Uwujaren disclosed the information in a statement at the country's capital Abuja, saying “19 members of staff of the company were rounded up on Friday, August 30, 2019 in Port Harcourt." One of the sources familiar with the story who would not want their names to be mentioned told Cryptoinformers that there is no need for people to panic, claiming that: "EFCC is investigating the company to find out if they are operating in accordance with the information provided to Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) during registration in Nigeria" The company reportedly registered as Software Development and General Contracting Firm without any license from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the SEC to operate financial system. A source told us that the company concluded their initial coin offering (ICO) in the second quarter of 2019, as at then, the company claims that "at no distant time" their investments will double Apart from having the Bluekey Coin, the company reportedly runs an investment subsidiary Bluekey Forex, which deals on forex trading where it gives investors 10% of their investment on weekly basis in duration of 26 weeks or six months, after which investors will be given back their capital. According to the company's website, Bluekey Investment Limited offers services which include Bluekey Hedge, Bluekey Forex, Bluekey Mobile Wallet, Bluekey Exchange, among others. |

People need to be careful here.... Some people don't even have any grey coin to sell, They just want to scam people. A friend of mine almost got scammed by some guy who claimed to have 2m grey coin at a give away price of 500k, I told my friend not be a victim that we should request instant screen shot of his account while we were still on whatsapp chat and we did, He said he will do it in 10mins time, guys you can't believe that it took the guy over 24hrs before he was able to Photoshop an account. So please watch your back. Don't be a victim. I will advise that if you want to buy greycoin, only buy from people you know, or if there is exchange site, you can also buy. But however, get it now that it is cheap. Currently the only place I have confirm they sell it, is giversmall, though one can still get scammed. Thanks for reading.. Just an advise from experience. |
